Description: Laugh Cafe was set up in 2007 to provide hospitality training to Vietnamese youth. Many young people from the area around Hoi An and Danang come to Hoi An seeking work in the tourist industry. With minimal English and no experience they can only find work in menial positions. Laugh Cafe offers training in hospitality English, service skills, safety and hygiene, restaurant and kitchen management and cooking skills. When our trainees leave we help them find a job in the area that the area that they wish to work in.Laugh Cafe is supported by MAD Indochina, an Australian NGO.

“Fantastic food at great prices”
Reviewed March 21, 2010

This place was a real find in Hoi An. The food was delicious - with a good spread of regional dishes as well as a larger menu - and the prices represented great value. We tried a few other places while we were there but ended up going back. Great service too. I'd recommend Laugh Cafe in a shot.

“Loved this quirky place!”
Reviewed March 9, 2010

We are traveling in Vietnam for a month and eating in mid range cafes so we are pretty familiar with what it available now. But this little place was recommended by US folks who spend 3 months a year in Hoi An and often eat at Laugh Cafe. We ate there several times and were only disappointed by the creme caramel which I didn't need anyway with better choices available. Just everything was better than the last thing we tried!!!
Peter, the host, is training young folks in the food and restaurant trade. He is good at explaining the the different food choices and quite proud of the selection and fact that each item is prepared upon order.
We loved the fried wontons [like asian nachos] and Vietnamese salad, full of seafood eaten on large rice wafers.
You are cheating yourself if you don't give it a try!!!

“Great Restaurant, excellent food and good value”
Reviewed March 1, 2010

We stumbled on Laugh Cafe yesterday and decided after reading some of the testimonials on the walls, to have lunch.......we were delighted by the quality and freshness of the food served and the warm friendly staff....we were so impressed we took some friends there for dinner last night.........it's a little off the beaten track just outside of the old town but well worth the effort to find.

“Lovely unassuming cafe with the best authentic vietnamese food i've tasted so far.”
Reviewed February 6, 2010

After a gruelling 12 hour overnight bus trip from Na trang, we wandered the streets of Hoi An looking for a bite to eat and recharge our batteries. We stumbled across the Laugh Cafe, 126 Tran Cao Van Street, in the old city. It's an unassuming cafe on one of the quieter streets, but the handwritten customer reviews on view on the walls caught our attention enough to be curious about the menu.
It proved to be a good choice as the food was authentic Vietnamese, prepared and presented with care by the owners, who are obviously food and wine enthusiasts through and through. The Pho soup was the tasiest i had eaten since the start of my journey through the country 2 weeks ago, and we learn't more about the local beer and produce by chatting with the owner than we had done anywhere else.
The cafe also does excellent breakfasts and western dishes, all at reasonable prices.
They even do cooking courses on site if you want to learn how to cook these dishes yourself.
most reccommended - i'll definately be coming back to trysomemore of their cuisine before i leave Hoi An.
