I have been travelling with my sons through Vietnam for the past 2 weeks and have enjoyed some great Vietnamese food along the way. We have ended up in Hoi An and have enjoyed the wonderful Old Town, relative peacefulness of the town and the excellent food & beverage scene.
A friend of my son who had travelled through recently suggested we seek out the Laugh Cafe. After a little searching we found this little gem - which I think has only been open about 12 months. The young owners Hung & Quang are the perfect hosts - making you feel welcome without the hassle. You wont have any problems spotting Hung as I think she has the biggest smile in Hoi An.
Both Hung & Quang cook and turn out a great range of Vietnamese food - if you prefer something more western there is pizzas too - but we did not try these.
Price was excellent with entree, mains, lots of beer and a bottle of Dalat red wine setting us back a liittle over 400,000 Dong.
They sat down and talked to us after our meal and explained that business had been so succesful they were moving to a new location in about 2 weeks. At the end of the night they took us on a tour of their new location - which is around the corner closer to the tourist trade at 126 Tran Cao Van St. The building is brand new and should set them up to become one of the dining spots of Hoi An.
Cooking classes are on offer as well and we are venturing back this afternoon to try them out. Will keep you posted.
