Had a great half day doing the Cooking Class with our cheeky guide Lily aka miss Bean with a bossy streak! Educated about the local ingredients and cooking techniques of our favourite Vietnamese dishes in a lovely rural location. Highly recommended if staying in the Hoi An area.

Three of our (younger) family members did this day tour/experience and it was the highlight of their holiday in Vietnam. They were collected by the most delightful and cheeky hostess/guide Ngan and 'educated' at the local market while shopping for lunch. They rode a buffalo, farmed, were taught how to make rice flour, prepare rice paper rolls and a range of other dishes, and cooked lunch. My husband and I did not do the tour as we stayed with our 77 year old family member, but we were invited (free) to lunch and a taxi was sent to collect us. My 16 year old daughter fainted during the cooking class and the staff were amazing in their care of and concern for her. They went out of their way to help her. This experience is highly recommended.

Lily was our guide and head chef for the day. We met her in the Hoi An central market where she toured us around and introduced us to new spices and fruit in English and Vietnamese. Immediately we knew that this would not be a dull day as Lily was lovely, spunky and a jokester, a great host for the day.
The bike ride to the farm is, as usual in Vietnam, an enjoyable, adventurous and scenic part of the day too.
The farm at Tra Que is a beautiful setting for cooking and eating. The menu #1 is all delicious Vietnamese staples, but we particularly enjoyed the fresh spring rolls. We loved our day at the Water Wheel and highly recommend it to all visitors of Hoi An!

We did the full day with Tra Que water Wheel recently and it was one of the best days we had in all of Vietnam. Helen (Hien) was wonderful. Met us at the resort with our bikes and led us through Hoi An on a wonderful adventure. I was a bit worried about the "bike" part when we booked but the bikes were in great condition and very easy to ride. You really get the sights, sounds and smells when you travel this way. If you are even a little bit fit you can do this. Hien also let us stop whenever we wanted so I could take photo's which was perfect. The market tour was heaps of fun and the farm visit was unforgettable. The new found skills Hien taught us and the food we cooked and ate was fantastic. You also have the option of making the return journey in a taxi (excellent choice after a big days cooking, pretty cheap too). Hien's family and friends were a joy to be around, genuine, friendly and helpful. Don't miss out doing this tour, just go along for the ride and you'll have a ball. We will never forget that day and will always have fond memories of the new friends we made. We don't often retrace our steps on holidays but we both have agreed to go back soon and do it again. A special heart felt "thank you" to Hien and Tra Que. See you again one day soon. Glen & Rita.
