For $25 per room this place sucks. For a couple of dollars more you can get much, much better down the road at Thanh Xuan (Long Life). Reception staff were only interested in one thing - making as much money as quickly as possible out of travellers !

My wife and I have just finished a 2 day stay here at the Thien Nga Hotel in Hoi An.
First impressions upon arriving here were quite impressive.
Its clean, well-organised and fairly attractive. It is on the outside of the old town, but within about 10 minutes walk you are at the main attractions and beautiful old architecture. Please note that this hotel, and the surrounding buildings, are NOT the old town.
Anyway, we were quoted $20, which seemed fairly reasonable, given that there is a swimming pool, breakfast included (although we didnt have breakfast in bed, like was advertised in the Lonely Planet)
The room was nice, spacious enough, with international television, a fridge, Air con, wooden flooring, a small (ish) bathroom with the trademark floor-shower.
I was happy with that. Also, the staff were friendly. The main receptionist during the day was helpful, giving us maps and a little advise about the area. However, he does seem a little on edge and was apparently giving people rooms for 5-10 dollars more for a supposedly "balcony view". This balcony view, my trusty readers, is only good if you lucky enough for it not to be positioned next to some rubbish that has been left outside.
It seems half of the rooms with balcony view are attractive (there is what LOOKS like a rice paddy, or something similar, in the back garden.) However, the other "balcony view" rooms are not pretty so honestly ask to have a look first before you decide you want that room.
For the budget back-packers out there, if your not fussed about this so-called "balcony view", try and get them down to $20. They dont seem to budge any lower than that.
To sum up, the place is decent. There are plenty of computers, free breakfast(although just 2 items are free) and it is well-positioned to be able to wander into the old part, or even rent a bike (20,000 VMD)
Also, just to mention, there is some construction and noise during the day outside the front of the hotel, so be warned it is loud in most of the rooms starting at about 7 AM.
I would recommend it overall.

Really good little hotel and decent value at $30/night inc a good breakfast (there are rooms at $25/night but they face the road, so are a little noisy and don't have the great view over the paddy field at the back). Rooms aren't huge but perfectly adequate - and we were there a week - bed comfy, shower good, a fridge and TV with plenty of English-speaking cable options.

There's a small pool with half a dozen loungers at the back, which is a nice touch in the heat of the day. Staff are friendly enough, although the got a bit sniffy when we still hadn't checked out 30mins after the scheduled time. But that was a storm in a teacup: they were happy to look after our bags and offered a free shower whilst we waited for our evening bus.

Five minutes walk from the Old Town and there's a couple of decent eateries within spitting distance. By way of tailor, we used Toto, which is 1min walk away (turn left out of the hotel and it is on the left), which was great.

The hotel is a good choice and worth booking ahead - we managed to get a room as a walk-up but they turned countless people away whilst we were there.

We really liked this hotel.Friendly and helpful staff. It has a pool which is small but I have seen smaller ones.
Breakfast is not a buffet and you have to order and pay for extra coffees in the morning. And I'm a bit of a coffee addict in the morning.
The nicest rooms are on the back I think. You have a balcony and can look out on the water spinach field and see the farmers coming and going.
This hotel was sure a relieve after we stayed in Greenfield for one night.Greenfields was truly horrible by any standards.

We stayed here for 5 days and were impressed with the service and the value for money. Believe me if we hadn't thought it the best value (and we looked around) we would have packed our bags and shifted camp. I honestly think that anyone who complains about this place when they are paying under $30 US per night hasn't stayed in "budget" accommodation in lots of other places (including Australia) The rooms were plain but adequate, there was a clean pool, we had air cond, hot running water and a lovely balcony with a view of the paddy fields. I think that the rooms on the other side could be a bit noisy but that didn't worry us. Better access to the internet with more computers and faster connection than lots of more expensive places that we stayed on our trip. Don't think that this place is going to be the Ritz and you won't be disappointed. Love Hoi An!

Checked in here at 6am after yet another uncomfortable 12 hr sleeper bus. Immediately shown to a large double with a balcony overlooking nearby rice paddies and vegetable patches. The room, which was clean as a whistle, had everything except a safe - hot water shower, icy a/c, cable tv, comfy bed and minibar. Downstairs in the spacious lobby there are about 6 internet points, (free to guests, occasionally run on the slow side), a little swimming pool (very welcome after a hot day of touristing) and a small restaurant where you can get breakfast which is included in the room price. The cost: $25.

The helpful receptionist helped us book buses and trains to Hue and Hanoi, as well as booking us onto an excellent tour of the My Son ruins and recommending to us a good tailors if we wanted clothes made (A Dong Silk: the best there is out there in Hoi An and if you don't believe me read the reviews on this website).

Highly recommended to anyone staying in Hue on a backpacker to flashpacker budget.
