“Views of rice fields, a pool to stay cool and an easy walk into old Hoi An”
Reviewed January 10, 2010

We had a good sized room on the ground floor near the indoor/outdoor pool. Our room was quiet with views out over the neighbouring rice fields and we got to watch the local farmers working each day in the fields. The staff were very friendly and helpful with lots of advice about where to eat and how to get around Hoi An. We were a few blocks from the old town so it was an easy walk to restaurants and sights. You could rent bicycles and motorcycles right outside the hotel and there were great massage/spa centres close by. The breakfast (included) menu was varied and consistently good.

We stayed for 3 days, the room was noisy (there was some work been done on the floor above. Before we took the room we asked how long the work would last and were told by the lady who runs the place that it would be finished the next day but it continued for the 3 days. There was some problems with the hot water, it ran out really quickly so either I or my husband had to have a cold shower. There was a hole in the bathroom wall and ants running on the bed. Breakfast was not great, very little choice, watch out for the banana pancake still runny inside! Internet did not work very well (could only get connection on one computer out of 4). I needed help to find my long lost family near Hoi An, the manager (owner?) was not helpful at all. We moved to Thien Than hotel (please read my post for that hotel) just nearby and it was so much better, breakfast was fantastic, no problems with hot water and amazing service!

Pretty much the best hotel we have stayed in while travelling in South East Asia. Best staff, best room, great location, best value all round. We booked in after reading great reviews on this web site and can only confirm what most people have been saying.

The biggest asset for us was the staff - particularly Thuy - who couldn't have been more helpful without in any way being pushy. We didn't book any tours with the hotel and received no hassle. We got hot water for our own coffee when we wanted without any fuss and at any time of day and night. While staying here we had to fedex two bicycles home and received loads of help and advice from Thuy.

The rooms which match the pictures on the website - are really bright and clean and are cleaned every day with new linen as required. Fresh towels were provided daily as well. There was always ample hot water and good water pressure.

Some reviews have complained about the breakfast - the fact that you have to chose two items from two lists on the menu. We found that this was a sensible approach for a hotel of this size as it avoided waste. It also meant all food was cooked fresh and that you were able to eat what you wanted rather than what was simply there at a buffet. The fruit salad was lovely and the banana pancake one of the best we have tried. The eggs were well cooked and the bread fresh. The Mango shakes were pretty good too. The only suggestion I would make would be to allow you to have tea or coffee seperately but this is an extremely minor gripe.

We only used the pool once but it seemed clean and well maintained and no you couldn't really swim lengths but come on what do you expect for 20-25 usd a night?

Finally the hotel booked flights for us without any fuss even though we kept changing our minds about dates and time.

All in all couldn't recommend this hotel more highly.

Hoi An was definitely our favorite stop in Vietnam and Thien Nga definitely helped in making our experience a good one! The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and our bathroom was huge- bathtub and all- compared to the other hotels we'd been to. We even had a balcony facing the street we liked to sit at during the evenings. We were so incredibly appreciative of the pool on the ground floor. It was a great way to escape the scorching heat during the afternoons. It had nice scenery and there was poolside service. We could just charge our drinks to the room. There were plenty of computers we could use so we never had to wait for a turn. The staff were friendly and not pushy. If I were to return to Hoi An, I'd definitely stay here again.

Nice balcony off room, pool area pleasant and very clean. Had 5 or 6 computers rather than the usual one or two you have to wait for. Short walk to old area of town and rooms quiet. Not the charm of the old area but probably a lot more value for your dollar in this area where many of the hotels are located. We'd stay here again. Did not book any tours or services through them so not sure about that.

Personal and attentive service throughout the day. Situated a little beyond the main tourist area but close enough to walk back for a cooling swimat any time. Ask for a room facing the rear - you will have a view over rice fields and less street noise. Tasteful decor, and immaculately clean. We saw the staff scrubbing the floor tiles with toothbrushes. The morning manager gave great advice in excellent English. In fact she took our reservation over the phone from New Zealand - something the Rex in Saigon was unable to oblige with.

We had 3 nights here. Managed to get a discount on one of the larger rooms, which was good value. Very roomy, very quiet with the back overlooking the fields. The staff were wonderful ( a theme of our stay here in Vietnam) - very friendly and helpful whenever we needed it. We got big hugs from the lovely lady of the hotel when we left. I didnt' think we'd ever make use of the swimming pool but after arriving back hot one afternoon it proved to be too good to resist. Breakfasts were fine - about average in our experience here. We rented bikes one day and they were in very good condition. We noticed it seemed a good place for families as well - there were a couple stayign when we were there with a baby and a toddler and the staff were delighted to carry around the baby whenever they had the opportunity. Definitely recommended.
