This is a must-see, as Amir Timur is a major hero in Uzbekistan. The tombs were very impressive, especially Timur's made of jade.

Although the Muslim monuments in Uzbekistan are aggressively reconstructed so that no trace remains of the past, when it comes to this mausoleum, excellent work has been done. A beautiful building suitable for a large figure of a leader as Amir Timur (who was not actually destined to be buried here). The golden interior design with a Papier-mâché technique is even more beautiful than the exterior.
A must visit.

Looks spectacular. Maybe a bit to much restored because it almost looks brand-new. Only some parts of the decoration are Original. Outside as well as inside have been revived to its former splendor. Everything is done to amaze the visitor.

Never intended as the mausoleum for one of the most important persons in Uzbek history, Amir Timur/Tamerlane/Timur Lenk, it works very well. He should have been laid to rest in Shakhrisabz, but nature intervened. Even the greatest persons on earth can't change the weather. It is still a very suitable place for him and some of his loved ones.

The complex looks great at any time of the day. Buy a ticket and come back as many times as you want on that day. Do return to visit the inside again in the evening. Less crowded, and see the difference in color when they switch of the huge chandelier. Outside looks also very nice. Enjoy your visits to this very nice complex.

This place has an amazing interior and you can see the huge green jade stone which is part of the Emir's tomb. You will be amazed by the fabulous interior. A must see.

Entry 20.000 som. Day ticket.
The site is good to visit with a guide book explaining the history.
Definitely come back at night to see the building light up and take some photos.
50 meter from the entry nice souvenir shop with the most postcards ever.

The mausoleum is stunning at night, illuminated beautifully. We had free access to the interior and had the place to ourselves. Inside the decor is spellbinding. Rivals Registan as Samarkand’s top site.

If you have to be memorialized in a mausoleum, it's hard to beat this one. My goodness. It's really a tour de force of location, architectural harmony, history, and glamor.
