“Nice place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

The restaurant is set up under the big old platan tree locally called "chinara". Our russian waitress was very good, menu is O.K. mostly catering to local taste. I would recomend to visit at least ones. Platan was the best place out of four others we had dined in Samarkand!

“Not sure one can get it batter in Samarkand”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

First of all it is hard to find the location as locals didn't really know where it was. The service (10% to the bill as usual) wasn't really the best. The food was good, though such dishes as plov must be ordered one day in advance. Menu way to european. The location has a wi-fi connection (2000 SUM/person).

“Thai style -do not be fooled”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

Had a very disappointing meal here as we chose it for a relief from the usual plov, shaslik etc. Ordered Thai style chicken -it was boiled chicken with cheese, tomato and ham substitute--kind of Uzbek style Chicken parmigiana. Both chicken dishes disappointing, tho e who chose the beef were happier.

“A lovely first night in Samarkand”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012 via mobile

We sat outside it was a lovely evening weather wise. Samarkandd always has a light breeze happening. And in August the weather is great. Althought the locals said we bought the good weather with us. platan has wifi (free ) good service , our waitress spoke good english a d the food although traditional was very good. Hard to fault great value especially the vodka's!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2012

A huge menu, with English translations....
But no Uzbek dishes even Plov were available.
Customers were entirely European tourists including buses.
Service was helpful, and our place on the terrasse was delightful.
But they found a terribke pianist saxophone player to mess that up
Price was Ok.....but the food indifferent and the wine, frankly, undrunkable
