I love the cool decor. It was a great place to while the afternoon away with a decent lunch and live music.

The service was friendly and pleasant despite my total lack of spanish and the waitress' poor English.

Tip: Don't try the house wine by the glass. It was probably the worse wine one can buy on this planet.

Beautiful tender steak, cooked beautifully and enough for two. Live singer during meal. Great ambience and great service.

We had dinner here based on the review from the Argentina lonely planet book.

It was quite empty and we were one of two couples dining.
The service was friendly and food was tasty.
It's quite a quirky place.
Free wifi.
Down side: we were charged Uruguayan $70 pesos for cutlery and an optional $50 for the live music (which went to the artist) and on top of that we were requested 10% service top.

In a nearly empty restaurant our waitress was clearly annoyed with our presence. Both fish dishes were good but the annoyed waitress made us wish we had dined elsewhere. When she donned her full face helmet and scooted away before delivering the bill, we were tempted to do the same. Enjoy the old cars and photo opportunities outside, but don't bother the waitstaff with your patronage.

Good points: really liked the food. Fresh, delicious and nicely sized. Nice as well sitting in the plaza enjoying the sun and surroundings, and the in-house singer was good when she wasn't trying to imitate easy-listening singers from the 'west', not that that is bad, but why would you want to given the rich musical offerings in your own backyard?

The not good: service really wasn't great, in fact kinda non existent. Just a lot of waiting and really no personality forthcoming from our waiter. Yes it's all a bit more laid back in Uruguay, but this was a little ridiculous. Worst of all though they don't accept credit card, so if you don't have local currency or USD, you're stung with almost a 100% mark up for paying in Argentine pesos (we'd run out of local money and thought it might be easier using a CC for our last day in Uruguay). I noted that this is a standard local practice, so although a bit of a cheek really, it's common. But seriously, who doesn't accept credit cards these days, even if with a surcharge? Better than paying almost twice, which then actually made the food and ambience not so nice. Shame really.
