Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

We came to this restaurant as a group of 11 and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The restaurant is tiny and we just about filled one of its rooms, which was stone-walled and had a blazing fire. We were given great service with personal attention - the guys were incredibly attentive and very patient with the foreign guests who couldn't speak a work of Spanish! We shared some of the cheese and meat platters as well as bowls of hearty soup. This is hearty, rustic food rather than polished and prestine cuisine, which suited us completely. The owner advised us on wine choices and we really enjoyed drinking our Uruguayan red. Delicious! A very memorable experience and highly recommended!

Hands down one of the most fun, intimate, happy little meals I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. SPOILER ALERTS!! You could read this or just trust me that you will be pleasantly surprised by the experience that awaits you.

Walking distance from the famous light house, you duck down a little stone lined street and then really duck down to get into El Buen Suspiro. At first it seems to be just a wine shop. But wait there's more! Turn the corner, there are 3 tables for 2 and more wine. There are maybe an additional 15 seats outside too.

My "work husband" and I snuck away from the group one night for a quieter dinner. We shared one of their more expensive cheese, charcuterie, tortilla, nuts, and olives spread with wine flight, plus we took home 4 bottles of the wine we most enjoyed...all for $100USD, or maybe we were too drunk to do the 19:1 math correctly? Floored. We left giddy and not sober and sent our other work friends back for subsequent dinners. I felt like we'd stolen Colonia's secret (albeit, well reviewed online, but still.)

Ask the server for wine based on preference. Most are from Uruguay like Irurtia, Cuna and Km.0, surprisingly good for their price points.

My husband and I visited this quaint restaurant in Colonia recently. We were the only patrons most of the time we were there but it was an early dinner. We ordered the cheese sampler with meats, bread, truffles and vegetable tarts/quiches. The food was all delicious. It was a very neat atmosphere. The servers were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful evening with food wine and one of the sharing platers. The staff are so friendly and really take care and a pride in their work explains the wine and good to you. The food was delicious but if you are looking for a big meal this is not the place to come to. The building is really small and quaint, it's a lovely setting. Highly recommend it.

We walked past this place in the daytime and didn{t notice it was there, but upon reading Tripadvisor reviews for local places to eat we found this and looked it up. The wine was great and they allowed us to share a 4 glass wine tasting between the two of us. We ordered a set menu of cold meats, flan, local cheeses and delicious ricotta, walnut balls. We´re pleased we found this place and got to try some of the local wines and cheese. If you want more selection than cheese and cold meats to eat, this isn´t for you.
