Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

Having read all the glowing reviews about El Buen Suspiro, my wife and I invited two friends to join us there to share a bottle of wine and a cheese-board last week. We arrived at 7 pm and asked if we could sit at an empty table in front of the fire. No way - reserved for 9 pm we were told! Despite insisting that we would be well gone by 9 pm, no way would the rather grumpy owner? behind the desk allow us to stay.
I suspect that success has gone to his head. If the place had been full I could have understood it, but clearly they couldn't be bothered with us at that time.
Which left me plenty of time to think about writing this review!

El Buen Suspiro is a hidden small wine bar in Colonia del Sacramento. There is no sign outside, just a small door in Los Suspiros Road. Inside is small with few tables and there is a inner yard with some other tables. The place looks like a wine cave, very charming, awesome atmosphere. They have a good selection of uruguayan wines and many good options of "picadas" (which are combinations of cheese both local and foreign, sausages, olives, breads, jams, etc etc.). They also have desserts and salads.
The service was great, just young people passionate for Uruguay and wine.
I totally recomend it.

We found this quaint little place and immediately decided that our place was by the open fire for the afternoon.
Prompt service, fabulous wine, loads and loads of cheese (too much really) and we love cheese, plus great little sauces and salami.
If only you could bottle the experience amd take it home with you!

Place is almost hidden, you´ll see a tiny bar in Calle de los Suspiros, just check for a little door and a cave look-alike site, and don´t mistake it with Cafeteria de los Suspiros, which is in the corner.
Rusty place gains charm in its simplicity. A place to taste great cheese and good wine. Price is really cheap for all you´ll eat. Great salami, bread and sause, and Tannat wine is worth a cup. A really cool and simple place to eat, great price-quality relationship.
