My partner and I stayed at El Capullo recently for two nights and very much enjoyed this tranquil and beautiful oasis in Colonia. The staff was super nice, very helpful when we needed something, asked for recommendations or help and everyone was always very friendly.

Upon arrival we upgraded to one of the garden rooms, which I would definitely recommend. They open up to the pool, a patio and a beautiful garden that invites to lounge in the afternoon or have a drink. Our room had one of the nicest beds I have slept in in a long time, the sheets were of very high quality and the duvet wonderful.
The bathroom, closet and dressing area are small, but sufficient for a short stay.

Breakfast is included in the rate and was a very pleasant surprise on our South America trip. We got fresh juice, smoothies, cereal, rolls, croissants, cheese, ham, jams...and much much more. The breakfast room has a glass ceiling and is a great spot to start the day.

We also liked that El Capullo does its part to protect the environment by producing hot water by solar power and providing shower gel and shampoo in dispensers rather than little bottles. Also, at breakfast all items come in little bowls and glasses reducing waste of jam and butter packages and other breakfast items.

Definitely a place to recommend and come back to!

The town is Historic and thus so many places look old and weathered/
El Capullo is updated and relately modern and has style.
the staff does a great job. The owner Tom who is very friendly
offers help and follows thru...This is what nobody does anymore.
Do not be thrown by His wife kelly who does not appear friendly
it is just her style and she is very professional also.
I would stay there again in a minute. in fact we extended our stay there
because we felt comfortable--delightful refreshing town

Sometimes you might read reviews of a certain hotel and be left with the idea that there must be two versions of the place. However, everyone agrees that El Capullo is a fine place to stay and having stayed there, I can see why.

We booked this place due to reviews on Tripadvisor, and were not disappointed! The rooms were trendy, spacious, clean, and very affordable. The owners were as nice and as helpful as could be. They clearly know what they are doing. They even upgraded us to a room with an extra bed for our little girl, who was entertained for hours by the chest full of toys they had. The landscaped yard in the back provided space outside the rooms to sit, dine, drink, and if it wasn't too chilly, swim. This is hands-down a fabulous place to stay.

OK, maybe it's a bit cruel to call it Cool Britannia, but the politically correct, environmentally aware fittings, trust-fund hippy clientele, language and dress code are all there! This said, El Capullo, owned by the pale blue-eyed (and very British) Tom and his patrician Southern wife hums very effectively, and everything works: The rooms are clean and agreable, the AC and hot water - despite dire warnings about environmental doom - do a great job for the weary traveler, and the garden/swimming pool area confirms the owners good taste (remember mosquito repellent, or you're dead - and itching - meat!). Very good value, but breakfast very basic and not up to the rest of the establishment.

This beautiful posada has been thoughtfully put together in every detail, from the ipod speakers in the room to the quality of the sheets. We loved having a spacious room with wifi to chill out in while it was raining, and our visit was a real pleasure.
