This is one the best places to see in Sharjah, unfortunately many do not know of its existence. Located further down the Dhaid road, after the National park, it's a bit outside the city, but the small drive is completely worth it. This place has a true collection of Arabian desert animals & you can see them roaming around free, while you are on this side of the glass, an air conditioned area. Photography is not allowed here, but its amazing to see the animals like leopard, cheetah, oryx etc. There is a section of night animals including wild cats, fox, rodents, snakes etc. which is pretty interesting. At the far end, there is a small restaurent. There is another open small section on domestic animals having camels, goats, ducks, donkeys etc. (children enjoy feeding them & photography is allowed here) and then there is a museum and open area which is pretty green & well maintained. Parking space is pretty good. Open areas could be hot & humid during peak summer.
You can actually cover this place (if you have kids) along with Discovery Centre, old Cars museum & probably the National park to finish with, all on the same road, the last three being close to each other.

This is a lovely trip for family and animal lovers, it is well planned so that you have a cool pleasant walk indoors viewing the animals from large wall to wall windows, as well as many in specially made aquariums, etc. You might spend an average of 1 hour there if you want to rush, but could have a pleasant 2 hour period to enjoy the fauna. It is not near any restaurants, though they have a cafeteria with some snacks. The location is easy to find, on the highway from Sharjah to Dhaid. Parking is always free, and 1 ticket gets you entry to 3 attractions in that area. The last time we were there, each ticket was for Dhs 30.

All the local fauna on display in very attractive settings. Nice to see the Arabian leopard still survives. Most of the work goes on behind the scenes in the captive breeding programs and is a tribute to the workers and administrators.

Arabian wildlife center, is around 15 minutes drive from Sharjah airport on Al dhaid road. Take the exit before interchange no.9 to reach the destination. It's a desert park in actual, with three specific areas of interest, like Arabian indoor zoo, historical museum and a kids area. You just need to take one ticket to see all these three facilities from the entry gate. It was AED 15 per head when we visited.

Arabian wildlife center or indoor zoo was something really new to my experience, because here things are different when comparing with other zoos, like most of the animals are kept in controlled temperature in fully glass chambers and hence they look healthy and energetic. Animals like leopards, cheetah etc. are kept In normal condition but. They have a big collection of desert animals especially, snakes and rodents. Surprisingly, there was a big hall where they keep certain varieties of birds freely. Sometimes they will fly over your head...mind it...

There was a small cafeteria at one end of the zoo and from there we could see, different kinds of animals and birds roaming freely under the palm trees..it was an eye catching view in real.

Overall it was a nice fresh experience , especially for our kids.
