Owner description: Learn about the flora and fauna of the arabian desert at this fascinating museum that houses farm animals for petting, geology, marine and flora halls and a diorama showing desert habitats.

The family with toddlers and grand parents spend a great afternoon here and time went so fast that we only saw 2 out of the 4 attractions, the kids petting farm and Arabian wild life center.

The Arabian Wild Life Center is Simply excellent and much bigger than anticipated. A real treat for the kids being crazy about animals.

It can be recommended to take a coffee break or lunch in the panorama restaurant for the almost 360 degrees view of animals, and the food is ok.

We all had a great day and will return again.

Not far fro mDubai, this zoo is an "all-indoor" experience, therefore absolutely perfect in summer.
It starts with reptiles, then there is a huge room where you are surrounded by birds.
Following is a 360 restaurant (a bit shabby, but being renovated) - gor for the Biryani or an indian dish (always healthier than the fried stuff)and you can't go wrong.
Following you see the big stuff (wolves, hyenas, cheetahs, baboons) and you can see them very close.

Do visit the farm next door where the kids can feed camels, donkeys, sheep, goats, ponies.

All in all, I heartily recomend this for a day outing with kids.

It's a very interesting attraction.

it's not a must see if you're not in already in Sharja.
But it makes a perfect stop over if you're ever on an excursion to the northern Emirates.
As is common to do in the cooler months, when locals & expats explore the mountainous regions or the sea.

The museum is not huff but it's not small either.
It's interesting for adults & children as well.

Sharjah Historical museum is a part of the Desert park, which is situated on al dhaid road near to interchange no 9. In one gate pass (Aed 15) we could cover historical museum and Arabian wildlife center.

Need to say, the museum and surroundings are kept well for the visitors. You are not supposed use cameras inside the facility. Museum is surrounded by beautiful lush green grass carpet, which will surely impress you a lot. Kids will be having a really great time here..

When you enter the museum, you will notice a few stuffed animals and birds without proper title and info. Then you will be forwarded to a hall, where you see working model presentation of deserts, day and night in deserts, flow of sand by wind etc. Then you enter to a chamber where they exhibited evolution of earth, history of planet, changes in earth crust, types of earth soils, continental drifts, first life on earth etc. There was a separate hall to exhibit Arabian marine life too.

We could cover the botanical garden also, which is attached to the historical museum. The desert park will close by 6 PM in the evening.

Just pass by the museum and had a look. Entering the frist room animale are , nice presentation, but no namens at the animale. I have special interest in fossils and was happy to see some local fossils, especially echinoderms. Different spiecies are shown and descripted as 'echinoderm' without scientific name.
Visiting a NHM I expect to learn something and presentation including proper scientific names.
