Dear Tommy R,
Thank you very much for choosing to stay at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa and for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor. We greatly appreciate any comments made by our guests and constantly strive to achieve the highest quality standards.
I would like to inform you that we already started to work on the new signage in the city with the support of the municipality. It is a global project for the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah including our main competitors and hope it will be finalised by the end of this year. The municipality of RAK is working hard to improve all roads as well as all accesses of the city (new bridges, new roundabout near Manar Mall and Julphar Towers, wider road and street, lighting) as well as the city signage.
Your comments with be shared with the team here in the resort for their follow up and we all hope to welcoming you back very soon for another relaxing stay.
1.The restaurant Piaceri da Gustare is near the lobby and makes the very first impression of Hilton. Despite its Italian name and very ambitious menu descriptions/price level it neither can do good pasta nor pizza. We only tested this restaurant once. The food was below average, especially when we just arrived from Dubai with its very high food standards. The olive oil we got in a small bottle tasted strange and was outdated. When we asked to check it the answer was what it was just an old bottle they use over and over again, the oil itself was fine. Is it the answer for restaurant at a 5-star hotel?
The rest of our stay we had our evening meal at the restaurant by the Light House, This was much better. We can specially recommend Passage to Asia.
2.According to Wikipedia a Caesar salad is a salad of romaine lettuce and croutons dressed with parmesan cheese, lemon juice, olive oil, egg, worcestershire sauce, garlic, and black pepper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesar_salad
According to Hiltons AL BAHAR restaurant a Caesar salad is a salad of romaine lettuce and croutons ONLY! If you want other ingredients you have to pay extra for it.
The Caesar must rotate in his grave! You can maybe expect such menus and such behaviour from Ryanair, but 5-star Hilton should know better! By the way, this salad and most other meals at most of the restaurants at Hilton were severely overpriced.
3.The room is fine and large, with nice design and furniture. The bathroom has an open window to the room (quite cool) and has two sinks, which is convenient. The balcony is nice, but in our balcony lamp there was a bird’s nest. The lamp was working, so there could be a fire problem and maybe cleaners should take a look at the lamp now and then.
4.The cleanliness of the fire stairs (with was used by guests from lower floors to avoid waiting for an elevator) was terrible. Does Hilton ever clean there? At least not during our stay.
5.Small cold towels are provided for by the pool. A nice little extra service.
6.There is a small breakfast buffet for those who depart very very early in the morning (from 02.00 a.m.).
7.There is an ok gym with both cardio training, machines and free weights.
8.The boards along the beach inform you that the water temperature is 25 degrees and the weather is 35. Very nice info, but they NEVER change it! Like i Sacha Baron Cohen republic of Wadiya: http://www.republicofwadiya.com/weather.php
I asked a guy who looked like a middle manager to check it, but nothing happened the following days.
9.To charge extra for Wi-Fi is sooo 1999! In the year 2013 it is one of the main reasons to avoid the hotel. According to reception the management is beginning to discuss this problem.
10.If you want to enjoy the waves at the sea, you better go to the public beach nearby. The lifeguards (or their supervisors or is it Hiltons lawyers?) are very sensitive to this matter.
11.The reception guy came with ridiculously high prices for transport with the hotel´s taxi to Banyan Tree Al Wadi and when we asked for a local taxi the door guys insisted that we should take the hotel´s car. The discussion that followed was like at the train station in a small town with gypsy cabs, not like with serviceminded personnel at a 5-star hotel.
By the way it cost only around 60 DHr with local taxi to get to the really 5-star hotel Banyan Tree Al Wadi. Every detail at this hotel screams 5-star, you can enjoy a fantastic falcon show, get a really tasty dinner with great service when you watch wild animals at the sunset and you can even check your e-mails without any registration and for free.
But if you enjoy all inclusive, have kids, do not want to leave the pool bar (the pools are fantastic!) and prefer to stay offline during holidays HILTON is for you!
Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to post a personal review here at TripAdvisor following your recent stay in our resort. We truly appreciate any feedback as it is comments from our valued guests that enable us to improve our services and facilities.
Trip Advisor allows guests to write both positive and negative reviews, which encourages the hotel to continually review their service standards. As you can imagine, all guest commentaries are seriously taken and all respective departments are alerted in order to make changes as deemed necessary to maintain our hospitality standards.
I hope I can answer some of your comments below:
Ceasar salad: price is 9 euros and as describe on the menu, the only supplement you have to pay is when you ask for additional toppings such marinated chicken breast or grilled prawns.
Our Life guards are very attentive as the sea can be suddenly very rough and previous experience shows us that we need to keep the same rules to prevent any incident. About your comments of the public beach nearby the resort, you must be informed that there is no life guard on duty.
Meter Taxi or Limousine service: the resort offers both options with different type of cars and services to let you the choice based on your request, expectations and budget. I am sorry to learn that it was not clear with the concierge team.
On a positive note, I am delighted to learn that you have enjoyed your room, the outdoor facilties and particularly the pools and the quality of the food in our Asian restaurant.
I would like to thank you aging for bringing these issues to my attention and do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back. Please do not hesitate to contact me for future assistance in your booking.
We had the pleasure of staying here for 10 days during late February/early March.
Having not previously tried an 'all inclusive' deal we were a little nervous.
I have to say we have been lucky enough to have stayed in many great hotels throughout the World but this was a fantastic experience.
We booked Virgin all inclusive and upgraded to Club - this was definitely a good move.
The food was excellent but what made this such a special occasion was the quality and friendliness of the staff, in particular we would like to mention the following:
Kirabel Moses Lailani Rony Moshey Akrimol and in particular Dirash who looked after us for 10 days and was a complete star.
Would recommend the hotel to anybody looking for a relaxing holiday.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the time you took to send us this message regarding your recent stay in our Resort.
We are pleased to note that you enjoyed your time with us and that we were able to make your stay memorable. Your invaluable feedback is important to ensure that we continually deliver the service Hilton is renowned for and exceed your expectations for future visits. Please rest assured that your comments will be passed on to the relevant departments and team members.
We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa.
Please contact me directly when planning your next visit, I would be delighted to handle your reservation.
We Went as a couple during late April for 6 nights with Virgin holidays all inclusive.
The resort itself is large (over 1.5 km in length) and located outside of Dubai on the beach. (Approx 1hr 30min drive)
You are a bit isolated here but you can get cabs to the local mall etc if you wanted or the hotel does have a free shuttle bus in the afternoon.
All in all it's a very very very nice and well maintained resort. We stayed on the 4th floor with a sea view room.
The room we thought was excellent . We actually got upgraded from a garden view upon arrival not sure why. We did send an email to the hotel the day before departure explaining it was our anniversary. The hotel read it after we arrived but did send up a cake and decorated the bedroom while we were at dinner which was a lovely thought. The food is superb and plentiful. There are a number of restaurants scattered through the resort. I must add that with all inclusive you have a set menu at only 2 of the restaurants (Italian & Asian) and these are a bit limited. I think you get 70 dirhams off your bill at the others but this won't go far. The main restaurant is pleasant and id recommend you eat dinner outside as its a far nicer experience.
Drinks are expensive (we heard water is far more expensive than petrol) in Dubai. For example small bottle of water is 15 dirham (5 dirham = £1 roughly)
Can of beer 27 dirham
Glass of wine 39 dirham
Can of coke 18 dirham
Cocktails 35-40 dirham
If your all inclusive there is a set list of drinks which is pretty good and incs spirits, cocktails, water, beer and wine. Some bars at the hotel have 2 for 1 happy hours.
Not all bars are all inclusive friendly. We noticed the lounge bar above al bahar restaurant didn't take all inclusive (after 6pm, we think) and any drinks purchased were at an extra cost. Shisha is available at this bar for 55 dirham.
However if you fancy a walk, ( or a ride in a buggy ) you can walk to the other end of the resort to the lighthouse bar where they do accept all inclusive customers and shisha is only 35 dirham. (Very nice with nice outdoor surrounding)
Al bahar is recommended for a nice BBQ lunch. We went here most days due to the quality of food and the amazing staff (Sabina and Moshey who were very attentive).
By the pool we often visited the sunset bar where lakmal kept us entertained and refreshed with cocktails etc
We chilled by the pool most days and did two excursions booked through the Virgin rep.
Virgin have there own office and a permanent rep at the hotel (jimmy)
The office has books to borrow and two apple computers for your use to check emails etc. jimmy is very professional, knowledgable and more than helpful
The Dessert safari (alpha tours) is very good and a lot of fun. We very much enjoyed the time in the camp where you enjoy a camel ride, henna tattoo, smoke shisha and get to dress up like the locals.
There is no additional charge for this apart from the dressing up which was 10 dirham each .
you also enjoy a bbq and watch some belly dancing in the evening.
city tour - we did an afternoon/evening tour which was very worth while. We combined this tour with a trip to the burj khalifa at an extra cost.
The trip consists of a visit to the spice souk and gold souk.
Crossing the river on an old style dhow, a beach visit where you can see the burj al Arab followed by a trip to Atlantis the palm hotel. You get to go inside and capture the view of the city and one of its many aquariums. From there you visit
The mall which is one of the largest in the world, here you can see the dubai fountain show every half an hour. The view from the burj khalifa is spectacular from the top. We got back just in time for some dinner or you can eat at the mall. Dubai reminded us of Vegas quite a lot.
the resort is child friendly with lots of young family's. There are several pools including children's pools which are away from the main pool. there are also fresh water pools and salt pools. There is a gym (quite well equipped) and spa within the resort but we found the spa was a little pricey for us. Virgin customers do get 20% off I do have to add.
We were worried about dress code etc here and when out and about.
The resort is very relaxed about this. Shorts and vests/sleeveless dresses are more than acceptable in the hotel but when out and about t -shirts covering shoulders and bottoms covering knees are recommended. PDAs are a not advised in the mall or in public places.
All in all a great resort and highly recommended just think about the distance from Dubai and the benefits of going half board or all inclusive
We certainly appreciate you taking your time to let us know what a great holiday you had here with us.
As we read, you virtually enjoyed each and every amenity we offer. In order to provide this atmosphere it is most important to have your constructive feedback which is very valuable for us to know.
Your comments are so detailed and I thank you again for taking your time to give your feedback to us. I have already conveyed your review to the team who will be glad to know that his efforts contributed to your enjoyable stay. Certainly we can see some areas of improvement and your valued feedback will help us to make it even better.
My team and myself are looking forward to welcome you back in the not so distant future.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any assistance in the future.
I stayed in the hotel for 8 nights. Breakfast and Dinner was included in our stay. The food was great and the rooms were clean and quiet. My bed was extremely comfortable The hotel just needs a slight facelift. The furntiture in the guest rooms are old. They do not have wifi in the rooms (you have to go down to the loby) and it costs a lot for wifi. That would be the case in any motel in that area. Guests are allowed to use the facilities at the Hilton Resort which is a 10 minute ride away. The Resort is beautiful and a great way to unwind on the weekend. I highly recommend this hotel if you are okay with staying in a less than "state of art" hotel.
Thank you so much for your time writing your feedback which is helping us a lot to achieve the highest standard of service, we are happy t o know that you have enjoyed your time with us and looking forward welcoming you back.
We agree with you the hotel furniture will need refurbishment which we are planning to do in the near future, however we can assure the cleanliness of the rooms, the bathrooms, the furniture, and all outlets, Definitely Wi-Fi will be part of the plan to provide our customer better experience.
Again, thank you for your constructive feedback, looking forward welcoming you back.
Listen, this place is fine, if your expectations are set appropriately. My mistake is that I was expecting something very nice...and it really didn't happen. Look, this is a massive hotel, and as such, checking in and checking out were pretty hellish experiences, you know, waiting in interminable lines. That is my personal pet peeve. The hotel itself is fine; old but not run-down or unclean...just old. We stayed at a chalet, which costs more, and, sure, allows for a bit more privacy, but again, it wasn't anything very special, but happily, we were away from the riot of the hotel, which seems to be a favourite of the charter flights. It may be the best, or among the best, in RAK, but just know what you've signed up for. We intended to spend 2 nights, but cut it short by one, and hightailed it back to home.
Thank you for your sharing your feedback on Tripadvisor. I regret to read that your recent stay was not up to expectations and therefore, please accept my apologies.
Our Resort is not so old, 6 years for the villa on the beach and 4 years for the main building, both location offering different experiences depending on what you are looking for.
Despite being disappointed that your experience with us was less than satisfactory, we are always grateful for honest comments that we can learn and improve from. Indeed, TripAdvisor allows guests to write both positive and negative reviews, which encourages the hotel to continually review their service standards.
I am sorry to learn that you finally left before your initial check out date, very unusual to learn for us particularly with a family as our Resort offers 1.5kms private beach, 6 pools including 2 for children and 1 only for adult, water sport and diving centre, 6 restaurants, 7 bars, a spa, fitness centre open 24 hours, kids paradize, a beach club....
We are very sorry again about your disappointment and would like to wish you the best in your future travels.
