The location of Samakmak is within the large Waldorf Astoria complex in Ras Al Khaimah. It is a little run down and is of a quirky design but this doesn't really detract from the ambience of the place.
For entree I had the local 'clams'. The reality is that they were mini me sized pipis that were so small that there was simply no taste available. The sauce accompanying them 'clams' was very good and was soaked up and consumed in some bread. My wife had the smoked salmon and received a very good sized serve.
For mains I had Lobster Thermidor which was really very good and unlike so many versions of this dish, the beautiful sauces did not dominate the lobster flavour. My wife had the Jumbo Prawns (shrimps) and they were tastefully done. We were the only people in the restaurant so the service was fabulous.
The dal wasn't cheap but it is in a resort setting.
Enjoyed our meal and the experience and I'm drawn to the words quaint and quirky to some up the meal
