“Old Location was better”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

AKOYA has still best Shushi and Nice staffs.
We recently had visited for a group dinner and was well organised and went very good.
I only do not like the new location. As it has no view comparing the last location.
But I will still come back.

“New location”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Akoya has moved to RAK Hotel, which makes the whole experience a lot less enjoyable. The location was their main selling point and now it is gone!
The outdoor seating is not appropriate for a restaurant but just for a drink. The 4 of us were crammed around a small round table that barely fit our plates. The hotel itself is a little shabby, 90's looking setting. The cleaners were dragging heavy sun-chairs around the pool making an awful noise while we were trying to have a conversation.
The service is poor. My husband asked for a portion of oysters and the waiter warned him that they were not fresh but "burnt" and couldn't explain better why, so in the end he decided to go for something different. Go figure what she meant. We asked for suggestions for the kids and they only gave us a choice of chicken nuggets or chicken fingers so we thought they had stopped the kids bentos. At the end of the meal we found them at the back of the menu when we ordered our desserts!
As for drinks, no diet coke available at all...as if it were an odd request.
At least the sushi is reasonably good but next time we will try elsewhere.

“Nice Location Humble staffs”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

I am not fond of Japanese food. I was invited by few friends of mine to have dinner in Akoya.
Table were decorated in a very beautiful way with Shells stones , Paper made birds.
We were having a farewell of one of our team member , so the Hostess was so kind to offer us a shushi cake. It was nice to see Philipino Staffs who is really welcoming and Humble, which was my first experience in UAE from past 4 years .
Overall very nice .
