Interesting to see where the royals lived before oil. The palace is nice and it gives you a pretty good idea of how things were laid out, but not a lot of descriptions of things.

Sheikh Zayed Palace is one of the best examples we can currently find in the oasis. Built in 1937, it was home to the former UAE President H.H Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan until 1966. Many years later, in 1998 it was converted in to a museum and definitely open to the public in 2001.
The Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum is a much recommended stop for all of those who want to know more about the local traditions and lifestyle. Walking through the different rooms of the palace we can understand very well what the life of the ruler and his family was like.
The residence is divided into different buildings that hosted not only the family but numerous employees and occasional visitors. Sheikh Zayed great hospitality sense led him to create different majlis or meeting rooms that he would use depending on the visitor. For example, the meeting room where he received delegates from western countries was decorated with western inspired furniture, very different from the local style seen in other meeting rooms. A tent located in the Palace’s main court was the chosen place to hold meetings with local Bedouins whenever they visited him in Al Ain.
Wonderful place to visit to gain better understanding of Sheikh Zayed and what he meant to the UAE. Also better understanding of life as a royal family. Well worth visiting. All of Al Ain is great
We had a nice visit to the palace. There are lots of rooms to have a look in and check out. It's free as well.
Lots of history and cultural information, quite pretty and worth a visit. Hard to comprehend that such green gardens could be cultivated in the middle of a desert. I am fascinated by older buildings, so well constructed. People do still reside in parts of the palace so you won't have access to all of it.
Absolutely worth of visiting! Interesting and historical Sheik Zayed's old palace. Free entrance. Parking is easy.
