“Very good impression”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

This place is not the cheapest. It's a little dated and for somebody who is used to glitzy shiny boutique hotel this might not sparkle enough. But the hotel made a good impression on us, because of the sleep quality. The bed is amazing. The air quality is wonderful.

There is ample parking and valet services are available.

There is a very English pub onsite that had a live band of some quality playing in the evening.

Overall we would highly recommend this for family visits.

The most friendly and welcoming staff. Facilities well maintained and they really cater for all. Loved that they were going so big on Christmas Music and decorations. The food at the pool bar is very well priced and you really receive value for your money. Really enjoyed the music at the Horse and Jockey Pub. Breakfast at Luce was outstanding. The food catered for all, true English breakfast with pork bacon and sausages and much more.

Its a wonder how they stay in business. Stayed the first time, got a room with free blaring music the entire night. Complained, and got a free one night stay (which I thought was a generous gesture). Visited the hotel last weekend again, no change to blaring music, front staff harassed me because I did not have an original voucher, my stay was breakfast inclusive (part of a package with Al Ain raceway). I was refused breakfast. The staff are not adequately trained to manage situations where customers complain. Very unfortunate, especially for Danat group, which I found excellent at other properties (Al-Raha, Jabal Dhanna)

Room Tip: Ask for a place far from the blaring music to have half a chance of a good nights sleep

Old room, stained walls, unclean glass windows, uncomfortable beds, even the screen on the window was torn. The room and fixtures Definetly need updating. Could be much better with a bit of attention. Staff need more training for sure. Breakfast was good.
Meal at the pool was delicious. Indian restaurant was also good.

Room Tip: Choose higher floor

We stayed here (family with 2 kids) for 2 days weekend. Now firstly this hotel was the classic Intercontinental hotel AlAin for many years until it its name changed to Danat Al Ain. I did not know that until we went there. What I liked about this hotel is: Rooms are spacious, Staff are very friendly, nice pool and good restaurants and open area.

What I liked least was the fact that we had to wait for 2.5 hours to check in because our room was not ready at 3pm. (I understand that the hotel was busy, but its not my fault too and we should have been compensated for wasting our first day). By the time we got the room and settled in with the kids it was too late to use the pool and the day was wasted.
Second thing the breakfast at Luci was Ok but the poor guy making the eggs seemed to be a first timer and always had a long 20 minute queue to get your eggs made.

We will visit again one day.

Room Tip: Taking a high floor room is nice for the view, but you will need to wait long for the lifts. We stay...

We reserved it by phone from Dubai and a helpful miss reserved room for us with good explanations and also helped us for finding the hotel by GPS. Check in was fast and the room was clean with comfortable bed and a tea coffee maker that was very good for us. Other amenities were average. Bathroom was small and looked old and i think it needs a basic renovation. Buffet breakfast was really delicious with wide range of choices. Staff in Luce restaurant were really nice and helpful in all times, especially Somnoth helped us very much. Omellete was yummy thanks to chef. Pool area was clean and very nice with a small pool for kids which was very good for families. Pool side grass area with relaxing beds was very good. Pool side bar had yummy meals and drinks. Mint lemonade was the best i ever tried. I didn't satisfied by massage treatment at all but it worth its cost for one time. I liked this nice and relaxing hotel too much and we will back God wills.

If I'm honest this hotel is difficult to sum up easily. I can see how for some clientele it might be a super luxury resort - especially for local families with young children. On the other hand by world standards it is no better than a 3 star hotel. I don't know when it was built but the design is very very dated and the condition of much of the hotel is screaming for a refurbishment. Could be 1960's or 1970's vintage.

There are some good things about the place. I like the drive up to the hotel, the reception area is light and bright and the check-in all went well. The room was fine without being anything special. Furniture was functional but not attractive (again looked quite old - drawers not fitting properly, old stains or scratches on furniture etc.). We were there for two nights which was fine but wouldn't want to stay for week. Seemed to have been cleaned OK though there was a lingering smoke smell. It was good to sit on balcony and look over the pool/play area through the tops of the trees.

Breakfast was served in Luce, the Italian restaurant, which is a bit dim and dingy and again dated in its design. But it was on the whole pretty good - a good selection with an egg-cooking station. Most expected things were available and service was fine too.

Outside the pool choice was basically a large lap pool (with lane markers) or the smaller leisure pools which were largely the domain of younger children.

On the whole I'd recommend for families who aren't looking for any great sophistication. Romantic couples and teenagers would should probably avoid. We may try the Rotana or the Hilton if we return to Al Ain in the future - just to compare notes. At over AED800 per room per night we might have expected more - so it would be interesting to see if it's available elsewhere.

Room Tip: Go for room overlooking the pools/play area (view of hills in background) - not the car park side.
