we as a group of 3 families visited Bugala Island (ssese island beach hotel). The location is wonderful, just 5 mins walk from the ferry site. We took the MV Earthwise from Port bell and returned after two days in MV Kalangala to Entebbe. Earhwise upperclass ticket @50000ugandan shillings was well worth the money. two complimentary drinks and a glass of wine. MV Kalangala, being a government ferry is cheaper but more crowded (ticket charges @14000 shillings per adult).
We spent one night watching the sunset and enjoying the sunset and location, On the next day we hired motorcycles and drove around the Island. A tiring but exciting ride. What was dampening was that the Palm Oil factory was not open to visitors nor photography which became a bit disappointing after a 1 hour ride across the Island. The people are warm and friendly.
we were also taken to a so called Bat Cave, which I personally do not recommend for anyone. our guide recommended that we pay some money to the 3 guys who were sitting in and around the Cave, No bats seen; only a dog and 3 drugged guys.
The fuel filling part during bike hire needs to be tied up before hand as I feel that our guide made some quick bucks in that too.
Overall. a good location for recharging yourself and getting close to Mother Nature. A wonderful place for photographers, artists and novelists who want some peace and good shots...

we liked the lovely beach view cottages of the ssese islands beach resort, the excellent staff who were very friendly and the white-soft beaches. the lake itself is an enchanting place with a large number of avi fauna all around. my wife loved the sun setting on the clear waters and was very happy that we came here. we however didn have enough time to go exploring the islands or take a jungle walk or fishing or many other things that one could do there.

We enjoyed every moment. The beach was fine with clear water, The rooms was okay, the food and service was nice. The village around was relaxed and good for long walk.
