“Great place to start a trip to Uganda - wish it could have been longer”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

This is a really nice place; absolutely perfect. We had one of the rooms in the separate annexe; it's really spacious with a huge and very comfortable bed, veranda and a whacky bathroom.
The garden is beautifully maintained.
The staff members are all exceptionally friendly.
Generous and perfectly presented breakfast.
They have a tie up with an excellent local taxi firm that I can highly recommend - Patrick is the owner.
I can't fault this place.

We spent our last night in Uganda after a week safari in this beautiful boutique hotel. Helpful, friendly staff (they made us very karibu), tranquil setting, clean spacious rooms. Great food !! The large avacado tree in the garden is pretty cool too.. :) We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Uganda next year...

We stayed for one night before heading home to europe. The rooms are well maintained and with a wonderful decoration. The shower is rocky and adventorous - like! We also liked the food (even though some plates were quite small) all courses were delicious. The managing british couple and the local staff is extraordinary friendly and helpful and the shuttle to the airport was included in the room rate. We absolutely recommend this place.

We stayed at Karibu for two nights. We were to stay there for three nights but they were fully booked and were kind enough to book us at another hotel, which was just as good.
Karibu was welcoming and felt homely. The staff are very friendly ( especially Jenny! who smiled ALL the time, and was always willing to help).
The rooms are pleasant, clean and spacious.
And they have a five course dinner each night that is quite luxurious and should be tried atleast once.
The downside of Karibu was that they didn't have a menu per se and as such, you dont have a choice of what to eat. I requested the night before if i could have a lunch (next day) of basic chicken and rice and i was told it "wasn't possible".
Also, there was a black out twice during our two day stay and we couldn't have hot showers.

All in all, it was a pleasant stay and i would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away, and have some quiet time. It is ideal for retreats or simply to rest.

Thank you doreefk for your positive review of Karibu! I’m glad you enjoyed our 5-course dinner and I’m sorry we could not accommodate your lunch request for a meal that was not on our menu. While obviously possible, to maintain our high food standards upon which our reputation is built, we do insist that our chefs stick to the large variety of dishes in which they have been trained to prepare by our resident French chef. It was our pleasure however to organise our driver to take you down to one of our favourite Ugandan restaurants in Entebbe.

I am also interested in your comment about black-outs. Karibu is on a permanent inverter system which guarantees lights and fans in the rooms 100% of the time, regardless of whether the mains power is on or off. Our hot showers which are electric are alternately backed up by a generator. I wish you had come to see us if you had difficulty operating the light switches or the hot water in your room as we would have gladly helped you out.

Thank you for staying at Kariibu!

Our stay in Karibu was fantastic and really made our first visit to Uganda a great experience. On Arrival to Entebbe we were met at the airport and taken to the guest house where the staff were very friendly and communicative. After a long haul flight it was a real relief to arrive and find that we had a beautifully set out room that was clean & comfortable.
All the staff were very friendly and communicative, and the owner Kevin was amazing at helping us plan our trip up to Murchison national park with his knowledge & expertise of the area.
Breakfast was superb each morning, and our evening meals we also ate at Karibu having the 5 course meal which was very well priced and excellently cooked.

We enjoyed staying at Karibu so much we decided to stay another 2 nights before we left Uganda. After the long drives to and from the national park it was so nice to go back to the relaxing tranquil quest house with the amazing sunset views of the lake to have a hot shower and rest up before heading on. I would definitely stay at Karibu again when travelling to Uganda as the service we received was by far the best in our time in the country and it made our holiday real a treat!

Room Tip: We stayed in Aqua on arrival and Mango on leaving both were excellent, clean, quiet, comfortable and...

This is a lovely guest house with attentive and pleasant staff, which is extremely clean. My room is well appointed with a large bed, clean linen and a nice little bathroom. The breakfast was amazing with home made bread and everything else you could want. It was filling, without being heavy. Highly recommend this place for a bit of peace and quiet. The views if the lake are gorgeous too, as are the gardens.

What a quaint, phenomenal hotel. Its a bit farther from the airport than what hoped for, but once you're there, what a treat! Tasteful, spacious, clean and functional room and bathroom. Peaceful patio and lovely garden to spend time. Delicious homemade food, a scrumptious 3 course menu. They hand washed our laundry in a short amount of time for a cheap price. The best thing is the service: gentle, friendly, extremely helpful, super professional.
Would definitely go back if i were to stay in Entebbe again.
