“Disappointing....”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

We stayed the Gately Inn before setting off to QENP.
First impressions were very good but sadly not to last!
The room was very comfortable. The sunken shower unusual and hot!
It took some time to get some coffee and slightly stale cake.
Later, as there appeared to be no staff, we went to the bar to order some drinks.
Then we sat down and ordered dinner at 7pm and when we had still not been served at 8.30pm we went to bed.
In the morning, we had an early start but we were given delicious coffee and were offered a fruit plate as the kitchen had not opened yet. This was appreciated as we had not eaten the night before!!
We were staying with friends from Uganda who had stayed before and thoroughly enjoyed The Gately - sadly neither of us will be back!

“Nice setting, food ok, coffee great!”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

This is a nice place to sit and relax. It has been well designed and the gift shop has some good quality products.
I had the 'signature dish' - fried talapia (local fish) but it was very bland. My wife had a vegetarian pasta dish (because her first choice was not there (a common issue in Uganda)), this was also quite bland.
The coffee was very good though.
In my opinion the coffee at the end is almost the most important part of the meal - that's the taste experience you leave with - that's why I gave 4 points rather than 3.

“Nice”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

not a bad place. the beds are a bit old and saggy (room 1). The thai food is great - had laksa and pad thai - both were beautiful. The room decor is nice and has a good natural feel about it. I would stay again. Can be a bit noisy around the rooms close to the fence.

“Disappointing service”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

Having had a drink here at lunchtime on my partner's birthday and seeing how pleasant the setting and ambiance were, we booked a table for evening dinner.

When we arrived and selected from the menu they were not at all busy, yet we seemed to be waiting rather a long time for our 2-person variety starter. We were really looking forward to it but eventually what arrived was our main courses. We were quite disappointed and were told in a very matter-of-fact manner by our server that he had forgotten about it! The main courses were acceptable in standard, although what had been described as served with a "side salad" was in fact one spoonful.

I asked for sherry but when it came it was full of very obvious sediment so I asked for it to be replaced with red wine, which was immediately done.

The prices were on the high side (eg 5000 shillings for a beer which is 3000 at other places, main courses around 22,000) and we found better quality and service at the same price in Entebbe eg at Faze 3.

We asked for help in arranging a taxi back to the accommodation and this was done very efficiently and at a reasonable price.

We came here for lunch a few times during our stay in Entebbe, It has a very pleasant atmosphere (bouganvillias, birds, etc.) and the food, service and prices were all excellent.
