We went from 7-14th October for my 27th Birthday and my boyfriend proposed out there which was great. we had a trip with Thomas Cook to the Vogue diamonds jewellery which was excellent because we got a ring which would be worth double in the UK. Also They had a shop here in Brighton which gave us peace of mind. Anyway back to the hotel. I was very impressed with the hotel reception, and the room 509 we had was perfect on the top floor with a view of the pool and the sea. It was exceptionally clean and the drinks were good. The beer on tap was Efes pilsner for any blokes like mine who it is very important what beer is on! He thought that was fine although I thought the vodka was a little watered down and I did not get drunk at all while I was there which is weird for me as I am a 'lightweight'. We are from Merseyside and met another couple there who, like us, thought the food was diabolical. I read the mixed reviews on here about the food all year before we went and thought it can't be that bad. I have been on all inclusives with first choice in spain for similar money and thought that the food was poor. Some may say this was because it was Turkey but I don't think so because the food in Marmaris town centre was just fine and we were forced to go out for a meal, like the other couple because we found the food was just reheated from previous meals. I understand when you go away you need to accept changes from English meals but this was just poor quality meat and it did not improve on the A la Carte meal we had one night with salads sitting on the table for hours and then they just seat you down to this and rubbery chicken. We just ended up having the pizza and chips from the snack bar in the day and soup and salad again in the evening. However this is definately not a Turkish problem because restaurants in the area were just fine. Anyone wanting a cheap holiday beware because it costs 10 turkish lira for a pint on bar street in the centre of town which is about £5 so we made up for the drinks in the hotel with our all inclusive but again were disgusted with the food. Also not in Dalaman airport it costs £10 for a burger in the McDonalds so get a butty before you leave the hotel when you return. Also the transfer from the airport to the hotel is about 2 hours. Apart from this we were happy with the accomodation, and drinks but not happy with the food and how the Turkish seem to hassel you constantly to buy stuff.
