Reviewed August 24, 2009

My wife, myself, sis.in law and partner,Arrived at the Intermar hotel at 4-00pm on Sun.16th Aug. were given our rooms on the 4th floor,2 lifts serviced the 5 floors so all was well.
Rooms were basic but clean, bathroom had shower, hand basin and toilet ( a tight squeeze to sit on the toilet if you are tall or a large person) hairdryer.
Sheets,Towels were changed twice a week but cleaned and beds made daily.
Walls, ceilings paper thin and everyword / television can be heard.any loud music or partying after midnight was soon dealt with by reception.
Rooms also have a fridge to keep your drinks cool, and free air conditioning.
Food was nice, breakfast served from 8-00am until 9-30. evening meal from 8-00pm until 9-30pm
The pool wasn't large but sufficient to cool off. sunbeds were provided around the pool but the best ones that had the sun all day were covered with towels from very early morning.
Tables and chairs were available in the sun or shade close to the pool/pool bar where staff, especially Michelle from Glasgow would be onhand to take your order and give advice on any questions.( a really nice, friendly person)
Should you wish to eat out,i can recommend the serenad bar/restraunt just around the corner where Alex will see to your every need,if he doesn't have it,he will try his best to get it. (good food)
The rooms overlooking the pool get loudish music from other hotels until around midnight, but if your balcony door is closed it isn't too bad.
The intermar is only a two minute walk from the beach front and approx 15 mins walk to the harbour.
The Intermar hotel is in a convenient spot for everything.

when me, my partner and two year old arrived here at 530 in the morning it seemed like it might be a good hotel. we went upto out rooms to find out double bed and cot was twon beds and a baby death trap.. the cot was metal and broken (child ended up sleeping with me and my partner on pushed together beds for two weeks!)
when we woke up the next morning the air con was not working and the smell of sewage was very strong.
we went downstairs to check the hotel out and found that the pool and beds were full, but as we had woken up late we accepted this... until this was the same everyday for two weeks.. if you want to sit around the pool you need to get up really early and put your towels out.
The food in the hotel was good, yet did not vary very much. The same menu was rotated every three to four days. The breakfast was rather bland, we only managed to catch breaksfast once.. that was the last day of our holiday because we were flying early.
The location of the hotel was very good. Only one block away from the beach and we could see the beach from our hotel balcony. The hotel is also near bars, shops and restaurants. The pool is also one of the best in size in marmaris.
The cleaners in the hotel do not speak one word of English and they do not change the sheets often enough.
i was ill one evening and had to go down to reception (as the telephone didnt work) to ask for the nearest paramacy only to be told the receptionist didnt know what i was referring to and sent me upstairs with warm water and asked me to bring the cup back in the morning!!!
I would go back to marmaris but probably not stay in the Intermar.. it was a good hotel for what we paid for it but to fully enjoy Marmaris i would want to stay in a bit of luxury next time!

when we arrived thought better than i had read about, but that only lasted for the first day, the attitude of the staff was appalling as they were not child friendly didn't know how to deal with them either. basically they con you i travelled with 3 young children who got ink on bedsheets and i was charged 50 lira( £22) to replace them even though they were if threadbare and had small holes in them and i wasn't the only one !! its good if your a girl in a group or single as your free game and they'll joke around with you and you get to do what you want. No food allowed in hotel you have to buy there but triple the price therefore further con. could go on and on but woulkd not recommend it to a family

We went half board in July 2009 for 3 nights.

Its a 2 hour transfer from Dalaman airport to the hotel, not so good if you have a late night flight!

Excellent for location!!!! 2 minute walk to the beach from the side entrance and the main entrance is the centre of everything! Bars, restaurants, supermarkets, souvenir shops, jewellery shops, and many excursion selling places!!! You don't need to hire a car as everything's in walking distance! Very lively place! You don't need to change any money as they accept pound sterling. If you do change any, you get a better rate in turkey than here (2.33TL - £1)

Good: size of double room, cleaned daily, good size pool (2 pools, one baby pool, one family pool max 1.40m deep). Lots of sun loungers, heaven for sunbathers! Hairdryer. Nice evening food, first night was a barbeque, second night was turkey and third night was roast chicken (not good for vegetarians!). Usually all food was served with chips or rice and a variety of salads. Watermelon was served for desert every night! Friendly waiters and a friendly receptionist.

Bad: Poor air conditioning which is really needed at this time of year as it was 44 degrees!!!! Dark bathroom with a dirty yellow mark in the bath! No hot water early morning! Drinks prices were similar or more expensive than over here, 6 turkish lira (£3) coke, beer £2.50. No mini fridge in our room (think most other rooms have them, we were room 422). Very hard beds and pillows! No balcony. Noisy at night as there was a hotel playing music until 2am. If you like you're english breakfast, this is not the hotel for you, although there are so many restaurants offering english breakfast.

There are lots of excursions to do. We done a jeep safari, horse safari, visited a turkish bath, experienced a smelly but fun mudbath and went to 2 beaches (turtle island beach and jesus beach). Had the best holiday ever because of these excursions! 3 days is just not enough, we will be going back, just not to the same hotel!

Just back from our holiday in Marmaris, this was our 10th time staying at Intermar. Having read some of the other reviews, which are quite old, I have decided to give some up to date info on the hotel. The hotel is a family run business with long term members of staff and they really work hard to try and make your stay as good as possible. The rooms are either twin, double or family sized and are well equipped with wardrobes etc. and have free air conditioning. All have showers and thanks to some extra solar panels being fitted, the water is always hot. The cleaner calls daily and sheets and towels are changed regularly.
Intermar has a large swimming pool and childrens pool, a water slide is an added feature this year. The pool area has all been re-tiled and is kept spotless. There is a bar at the pool which sells drinks and meals and this is also where breakfast is served.
Also refurbished this year is the hotels Turkish Bath where you can also be pampered by a variety of treatments.
On the corner of the hotel is a great restraurant called The Junction, this is run by Vehbi, Kenny and most important - Alex !! They are so friendly and helpful and the food is of a very high quality, their chips are the best in Marmaris !! and also try their steaks. Meals are reasonably priced, and the service is 2nd to none.
I have noticed that some of the problems that have occurred at Intermar, have not been caused by the hotel staff, but simply the bad attitude that some guests display whilst on holiday. I have never encountered any problems during the last 5 years I have been staying at this hotel (we go twice a year) which is why I titled this review "our 2nd home" as thats how we feel abut Intermar !! Roll on our next holiday!!

The staff were helpful to us but were very stressed and seemede to be overworked. This was mainly because at the time we stayed there, the hotel was full of Bulgarian students who dominated everything. They were also noisy, rowdy etc. For instance, playing soccer in the corridor outside our room. Teenage girls ferrying hair appliances and product from room to room for the evening glamour parade. In the evening, getting to the restaurant was for the quick and the dead. Once occupied by marauding teenagers it was impossible to be adequately seated until they had finished. This provided a headache for the staff, who did try to help when asked. It was a difficult situation for them. The kitchen staff seemed embarassed and bent over backwards to be helpful to us,

We have no real complaints about the food here.

With the overcrowding situation at the hotel, inevitably there was a problem with the hot water system. Mainly I prefer to shower in the mornings. Here I experienced only cold water in the two days that we unfortunately stayed here. The teenage holiday makers used up all the hot water from the solar system, and with no sun overnight, the water was very cold in the morings for showering. The situation is somewhat different if you choose to shower in the afternoon or evening.

We only stayed her, and not by choice, as a bas for visiting archaelogical sites with a tour group.
