my mum and dad and 2 friends booked this hotel from 10th-24th september on allinclusive and on arrival they was told that all of the 4th floor had been flooded so they had to be moved to the sun maris central hotel 2 mins round the corner on entering the hotel it looked nice after check in went up to rooms they had room 302 and 307 and was quite suprised on how big the rooms were and nice and clean showers allways hot and bathroom was a good size thats the positive side now on to pool area never ceen a pool so small in all my life and only gets sun around 1400 hrs for about 2 hrs.food well i wouldnt feed it to my dog it was that bad (eat out everday ) and to say its supposed to b an allinclusive hotel only alchol u was allowed was beer vodka gin and soft drinks wat aload of crap.on my mum and dads second week i decided to fly out for a week on arrival i was taken straight to the central hotel as id booked sun city but didnt mind as my mum and was there got checked in really quick as it was 4 am and went to my room and was put in room 303 next door to mum and room was lovley but as i say cant say anything more about except how bad it was on the monday some people told us they had heard the hotel was closing on the weds and we would b moved yet again so we asked and they said yes and we would b moving 10am weds morning so we got all packed and when we went down ready to go we was told we wouldnt b moving untill thursday and all r group would be split in to different hotels so by this time my dad was getting rather mad as u can imagine in the end they agreed to put us all together at the sun maris beach hotel which is a bigger hotel 2 mins from beach and nice pool rooms however are ok for 2 people but would b a struggle with 3 the shower mind u was freezing at alltimes of the day.the food was alot better here and u could find something to eat even if it was soup or salad.only down fall with this hotel is that bars around it dont close till 5 am so its rather loud but if u dont mind that then i would say this hotel is the best in the sun maris group and worth a stay if u are on a budget but wouldnt recommed it to familys with small children.please take note of this report as it truly is a honest one !!!!!

We were unfortunate enough to stay at the Sun Maris City from the 1st-15th August. There was six people in our party, myself and my husband and our four teenage kids, 17,16,14 and 13. We arriived at 5am in the morning only to be told that there was a problem with the water on the fifth floor and we were being trasferred to another hotel for a few days... As I had read thr reveiws on Trip Adviser before leaving the UK , I informed the manager I was not going to the Sunflower Hotel. He was shocked that I knew of the procedure and immediately picked up the telephone and shouted and ranted in Turkish for five minutes and after slamming the phone down told us we were going to the Sun Maris Beach. The first two days there were great and the food was lovely! On the second afternoon they sent a boy to tell us to come out the pool and pack immediately as they needed our rooms ASAP. We managed to get dressed and packed in half an hour. We were told to wait in the hotel foyer and we were still there nearly two hours later! We were eventually taken in two runs to the sun maris city. My husband was then asked for a 10lira tip by the driver for the priveledge! After arriving back we were told our rooms were not ready yet and to wait again for forty minutes in the 45degree heat in the foyer with no air con!! We were eventually shown to our rooms. Our rooms were a good size and totally spotless! Both rooms were cleaned everyday and fresh towels and linen were always available. The maid was lovely and worked very hard as did all staff in the hotel even the ignorant ones! The meals are very basic. They consist of rice, veg, pulses and chicken (mostly thighs or wings). There is soup at lunch and dinner, which is a lifesaver because if your on a budget its basically all you can stomach after two weeks of same old. The food is always presented lovely and there is plenty of it but sadly after 14 days of salad and chicken I think were beginning to cluck!! We spent alot of money eating out as it just didn't feel like a holiday! The tables are in place settings of two and four. On holiday we like to eat as a family (6) of us because its really the only time we are all together for a long time. The pool area is really small, the pictures in brochures and trip adviser are really deceiving. Beleive me th pool is only big enough for about ten people! There are 12 sunbeds for over 300 guests! ts a mad rush in the morning for sunbeds but I wouldn't really bother as there is no sun there until 3.45 every day and the pool closes at 6pm as they put tables round it at night for dinner! The bar is also in this area, there is a sign saying only 1 drink per customer at a time, there was six of us and the staff always gave us six at once so it was not a problem! The biggest problem with the bar are the Russian guests! They are ignorant and always skip, (if you let them) ha ha! they only tried it a few times with us and we let them know in our friendly scottish way it was not on lol. The bar staff all speak fluent Russian and were quite ignorant at the best of times. Staff had to be warned off our daughters only once! My youngest was terrifed from the chef shes 13 he was 25! We let them know the score! The russians offer it on a plate anyway and can be seen with staff in their rooms every night. The Russians fought 10 nights out of 14 during our stay, which certainly make your nights eventful! Omur (Why?) is a true gent and keeps you updated on the latest gossip and events, he was our favourite barman! Most days were spent at the Otel Dost which backs onto the sun maris city. It is less than a minutes walk round the corner. It has a massive beautiful clean blue pool and it is free to use when buying drinks or food. The drinks and food are very resonably priced and Natalies bacon rolls are lush! Natalie is a Liverpool lass who has been in Marmaris for years and makes you very welcome! Please go there if you stay here. The sun maris city is situated nearer the marina end of marmaris in a local housing area. The locals are lovely and so are the shopkeepers. A holiday is what you make it but at the sun maris city you will need alot of extra cash with you to enjoy Marmaris, if you haven't booked yet DON'T!!! and if you have make the most of it, don't let the Russians rule, drink lots of Becks and Raki and beat them at their own games. Safety deposit boxes are £12 a week to hire non-refundable but I wouldn't bother as you will have no cash left to put in them as you will need it all for eating out pmsl!

We paid £333 for 10 nights all inc, it's not gonna be the Ritz is it? What a fantastic little hotel. Rooms small but immaculate (if you want your room cleaning just hang the sign on the door). Not that we were planning on spending much time in the room, we were on holiday! A bed and a bathroom was all we needed. Yes, there was restrictions on the drink, just stock pile it under your table (it's not hard is it?!). Food was nice but yes, basic. But look at the price. There's some great restaurants including the one at the end of the road (the one with the monkey), what an amazing meal we had there and a top breckie too. Only a couple of mins walk to the beach and Long Beach nightlife has something for everyone, Bella Beserk the drag artist is a must. Had a few brilliant nights in Santana, Karaoke bar. The whole of Long Beach is nowhere near as pricey as Bar Street and much cleaner.
The staff are great and work really hard and long hours. If you spend a bit of time getting to know them you'll see how lovely they are will do a lot for you. The socialising areas are small but this creates a nice atmosphere and if you're a friendly person who likes a chat and a laugh you'll get along great.
I would say the people disappointed with this hotel were probably expecting something with nice gardens and a large pool. But what it lacks in gardens and pool it makes up for in atmosphere.
We met such a lot of fantastic people of all ages while we were there and feel we probably wouldn't of if we'd been in a large complex.
Overall, do not read too much into the negative reviews, if you're looking for a cheap cheerful but clean hotel then this is the one.
It's got so much character, we're going back again next year for our honeymoon and taking all our mates with us.

First holiday with all the 6 grandchildren. Had booked the Sun Maris Central but was taken to the Sun Maris City and told this is our hotel.( The Company has 6 in Marmaris). Both hotel's seemed to be very similar. The rooms very basic. The food was doable for the week and Local drink free to 10:30. The kids loved the Pool but it was cramped for the amount of people there. The beach is just a short walk. My daughter and partner stayed in Sun Beach Right on the beach 8 Nights for just £160 they seemed to get the better deal.Holiday is what you make it and the Children loved it.

hey everyone, Me and my friends booked this hotel AI back in november 2010, we had fully paid months in advance but when we arrived at the hotel we were told there was no room without any explanation and was told to go to other hotel....I didnt have a clue what he was on about but luckily the transfer guy was still with us and took us to the "other" hotel.....luckily for us we were moved to the sun princess and had a brilliant holiday.....it would have be nice to have been informed of the move, and treated a little nicer, we could of paid much less for a holiday that had allocation on arrival which seemed to be what happened to us!
(we met about 5 other groups whao had exactly the same problem from the sun maris)

first time in turkey! and found the hotel just fine! food was ok, although we were all inclusive we were out quite alot as there is lots day trips to do, but when we wanted food we got it. always something you can eat, even if rice, chips and chicken everynight , slept in most days or out to early skipped breakfast but one day we had pancakes and scrabbled eggs. which was soo nice! lol.

drinks were from 10.am -10.30 althought all inclusive, imported drinks are not free! smirn off, red bull, cocktails etc! so we drunk there vodka and coke which waas fine. and then got fish bowl after 10.30 which are 30L small! which is like 12 quid, so cheap! they are like 70L in barstreet same size! but you can haggle buyonegetonefree like we did :)

also bugers snacks etc. arent free! but tells you this when you get there! but we just ate free food considering we did pay for it! and our deal was 345 each! for week all inclusive,

our room was for 3 girls. on the 5th floor. so lift everyday! lift was small but we fit in 3 people lol. our room was ok size, as all inclusive its just really for sleeping in and getting ready which was fine! cleaned regulary if sign was left on door. new towels etc. room average size, bathroom ok size, shower water temp just fine. lots of toliet roll regulary ,soap. and a hairdryer. only downfall to our room was only 2 plug sockets! and one of them was the tellys one. not that we ever watched telly! but with 3 girls just had to take turns on straightners etc!

weather was lush! always hot. although the pool is quite small. not many people go init. as the beach is 5min walk if that!. but you can get sun later in day! when sun is higher! if you can get a sunbed. but we prefered going out and about. we heard. theres a local pool thats free to use if you buy a drink run by a liverpool lady, but we never found it lol.

theres so much to do out there! so enjoy! perfect hotel for what we paid for..
staff friendly. and entertainment most nites. would go back! x oh and you get a free bus like everywhere lol it is true there are alot of russians but there are some english! and most turkish speak quite good english! we did the jeep safari, dalaman boat and lazy boat trip! would recommend. altought one the boat trip days was soo long! x

Booked a weeks stay at sun maris city arrived 1.00am got told there was a problem with the rooms so got transferred to sun maris beach got to reception they told us that we would be staying there, but we would be in there other block ,this is a load of bull because we where sent across the street to the sunflower hotel when we needed food and drink we where supposed to cross over to the sun maris beach to be fed and watered how very inconvienient for us,in the morning we met other people by the pool all been through the same as us so beware stay away go self catering it will cost less money. Also if you like to sleep this area is a no sleep zone music on till 4.00am and the sunflower hotel is filthy they dont put on clean bedding will not change your towels u have to leave them soaken wet if you wanted fresh ones, the shower is so small you cant even bend down for shampoo etc,the pool is nice area they only had 1 umberella which was all torn then it disappeared so we had none, asked where it went but no explanation they dont want to be bothered. Also reported the balcony door would not lock we are still waiting for them to come and see it,the toilet door would not close so beware of these places you do not get what you pay for im not a fussy person. this place has got an award from trip advisor 2011 i would like to know how they got it.
