...dont get me wrong, we love those places too but they are definitely the more touristy side of Dalyan due to the large amount of day trippers visiting.
Most day trips are based around the river and many people we speak to don't realise there is a whole town there aswell!
Dalyan is a lovely, working town with a fantastic selection of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and a weekly market every Saturday...we love wandering through the back streets or chilling at one of the cafes overlooking the river with a cold efes beer in hand!
Dalyan is quite a bit smaller than Marmaris or icmeler but still has plenty going on and there is a great atmosphere in the evenings with quite a few cocktail bars and lots of places playing live music.
Its worth the effort to go yourself rather than on an organised trip and its really easy to get a boat from the harbour to visit the sights (in fact, our party of 8 paid £25 each and got our own private boat and captain for the day including a beautiful lunch served on board while we were anchored up in the stunning koycegiz lake). Dalyan is just under an hour and a halfs drive from Marmaris and is a straight forward drive if your hiring a car, or, alternatively, you can get the dolmus there (changing at ortaca).
Accomodation is reasonable in dalyan and its only half an hour from the airport so many we have spoken to book a.night or two at the end of their holiday and enjoy the best of both worlds.

loved the trip,we went waddling through the mud baths and rubbed it all over, supposed to be good for the skin, helpful staff as always on these trips, well worth a visit.

We loved this trip. We were lucky enough to see a couple of turtles as well which was quite thrilling. We also enjoyed the Tombs of the Kings even though you only see them from the boat. It's a puzzle how they managed to build them on a sheer cliff face and there is a lovely story/legend to go with it. I am disabled but the staff were really helpful as you have to get on a smaller boat. As with every trip we did, the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us.

Visit this along with Cleopatra Beach and the Mud baths for a great day out to remember. Turtles are scarce but the trip is worth the effort turtles or not!
