I left the Rota Samoy 7th July after a 2 week stay with my Nana.
We had first booked to go somewhere else but had read on here so many negative reviews about that place so changed the hotel to this one as there were loads of positive ones at the time of booking. I'm pleased we did.
Rooms- On arrival, we were put over the road and into a teeny room. My Nana wasn't happy with this and after speaking to Kaan, on our 2nd day, we were moved over to the RS into a lovely room with a corner balcony, great as it got the sun in the morning on one side and in the afternoon on the other and pleased my nana as she could keep an eye on what was going on! Haha!
The room was cleaned a few times during our stay, but if we ran out of loo roll or wanted clean towels, we just asked and the staff replaced them there and then. Couldn't wish for more considering the price paid.
Food & Mealtimes- When we fist arrived, I have to admit, I was a little worried and was wondering how much of my spending money was going to be used on eating out!! Then after a couple of days into our holiday it began improving and we were told there was a new chef. It just kept getting better and better every day.
At mealtimes, it was so busy, in such a small dining area serving guests that are staying in the RS and also in the other 2 hotels. My suggestion would be that maybe lunch and dinner could be done in 2 sittings and guests should choose which sitting they want to be on on arrival and stick to it.
The Pool- The pool is a pool, nothing more nothing less. It's great for dipping into and having a quick swim to cool down when it's just too hot!
The sunbathing area as someone has already mentioned is a fab sun trap. There aren't enough sun loungers for everyone in the hotel but you can use the pool over the road and again, the beach isn't far.
Staff- The staff were all wonderful. Anything you want at any time of day or night and they would do their best to accommodate. They all work such long hours and 7 days a week too. We were there 2 weeks and don't think any of them had a day off! All of them were friendly, happy, pleasant and jovial all of the time. We British aren't like that-Monday morning just arrived at work, grumpy is what we are, but no, all of them were always smiling-despite whatever was going on! (Like guests being awful to them!!)
Location- We felt that this was in just the right place, as it's not on the main road but not far from the main road. It wasn't far to walk to places and was quiet enough when you close your door on a night time to get some sleep.
Hotel Overall- A lot of people were moaning and complaining whilst we were staying at the RS about such stupid things. I just don't get it! If you look at the breakdown of your holiday, your stay at the hotel is only costing about £10 a night all inc! That's less than a bottle of Smirnoff for goodness sake and you reckon you could pay that and find any better!! I really do not think so!
I feel so sorry for Oz when he only just took over this place earlier this year and people are not giving him a chance and expecting it to be like some 5star plus hotel.
I enjoyed my stay here and would stay again....as long as I got to stay in the same room again! :)
