“Fantastic Holiday and great Villa”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We have recently returned from staying two weeks in Villa Sophia, and I have to say that we had a fantastic holiday. The house is very spacious with plenty of bedrooms which more than coped with the 12 in our party. The rooms were well appointed, very clean and most have air conditioning.
Whilst we ate out most nights, we did use the built in BBQ a couple of times, eating outside at the large dining table on the veranda. The Gardens and Pool are suberb, with enough shade to get out of the sun when required. There were even Fig, Lemon, Lime and orange fuit growing upon the garden trees.
The villa is situated away from the hussle and bussle of Marmaris centre which suited us better, although for 2tl the small buses would have you in the centre within 10 minutes. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the villa, and we found all of the meals whether traditional turkish meals, or more western European excellent and very cheap. Next to the villa is a medium sized hotel. At certain times of the day we did hear their music but to be honest we hardly noticed it, and they did have a policy of no noise after midnight.
The Villa is owned by Melisa and her family, and she and her brother Bora were so helpful. I cannot say enough how easy she made the whole experience for us. I would definitely recommend this Villa and holiday.

I do have a few tips:
1. Take sterling. All the shops except it as currency, and you can exchange it for Turkish Lira at local banks or even local stores at better rates than we could get in the UK. The small supermarket on the left down the hill from the Villa gave us a great rate for the entire holiday. (3.5tl to 3.6tl per £)
2. There is a tiny bakery 5 minutes walk from the Villa. The fresh bread and cakes were awesome and so cheap. We ended up going every morning.
3. Use the buses. They are 2tl per person and are plentiful.
4. Visit the beach at Icmeler. we received free sunbeds, and waiter service on the beach but it is a 15min taxi ride away.
5. Ask Melisa to organise transers from the airport. Very reasonably priced and punctual.

“Amazing Villa!”
Reviewed July 29, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Melisa one of the holiday owners was very helpful, patient, informative, and had good communication with us. They left us a nice hamper, and Bora was friendly and nice when handing over the keys and picking them up.
The property was clean, spacious, and had many features including the tree house and pool which made the stay more fun. The home is in a great location close to restaurants, shops, supermarkets,Bar street (if you like to party) and excursions.
We went with a group of 11 friends and still had spare rooms, enough bathrooms for everyone. The garden area was big and the pool was perfect after a long day doing activities, jumping in, to cool down or laying in a hammock.
Also close to the house is a beautiful mountain which you can ride up and see an amazing view of the country.
Over all a wonderful stay would recommend to anyone; big families, friends- a wonderful home and a great place to make memories.

“Absolutely fantastic”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Just got back from 11 nights stay with family and friends. Fantastic villa, very clean, spacious and plenty of areas for privacy. Melisa was a great help through the whole of the booking arranging transfers for us too. Bora only a phone call away and quick to respond to our calls. The villa is situated in a quiet village not far from Marmaris which is easily accessible by the dolmus at 2 lira a journey or taxi. Will definitely be booking again in the near future and would highly recommend the villa.

“Great location, spacious accomodation, good outdoor space and facilites”
Reviewed April 28, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Enjoyed our stay at Villa Sophia. Large and spacious for family and friends visiting for our daughters wedding. Plenty room for private time if you wished. Good sized pool. Would recommend this villa to large groups. Not too far out. Walkable to centre of Marmaris, or a few minutes on a dolmus, even taxis not expensive. Owner and her family/staff very helpful for any of requirements we needed. Lovely welcome basket too!

“Spacious, clean and comfortable Villa”
Reviewed January 28, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

I must say that it is an excellent Villa -comfortable, clean, beautiful and very important it is close to the City Center. I was with my family, there was plenty of room for us, we had everything what we needed , the pool and the garden was fantastic. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we would be happy to go back there again.

“... just loved it!”
Reviewed October 25, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Villa Sophia is a spacious luminous villa, with a gorgeous garden a great swimming pool. You'll be swimming under the branches of trees and jasmine, sunbathing on one of the many sunbeds (including an alcove-like hut with plenty of soft cushions) or dozing on a hammock.
Sometimes, you'll simply find it hard to leave to the beach and you'll find yourself idling your day away by the pool. Your kids will love the tree-house.
The kitchen is wide, luminous and fully equipped, the outdoor dining space comfortably accommodates all guests and is shaded by huge sun-umbrellas. Bed-linens and towels are soft and towels are also provided to be used at the pool.
The villa is very clean and - should you ask for mid-stay cleaning - you will want to hire the cleaning lady for your house back home: the place will not just be spotless clean but also absolutely neat and tidy once she's done with it, no matter how many trails of toys, shoes, etc. your kids (or husband!) may have left behind.
Although we did not get the chance to meet Melissa, she provided full support via phone and email. Melissa's family in Marmaris was welcoming and helpful.
Villa Sophia is located in lively Armutalan, with music playing most of the day and until midnight from nearby hotels and clubs, but come midnight everything goes quite and all you'll hear will be the muezzin calling to prayer. Should you wish for some silence before midnight, just shut the windows and switch on the airco: the windows are perfectly soundproof.

To get the best of Marmaris, you should treat yourselves to a couple of boat trips (we did Marmaris bay on one day and çiftlik on another day). We hired to boat only for ourselves (6 adults +6 kids): it was worth every lira and not expensive all and all. Melissa's brother can be of help if you mean to hire a boat but it's easy to just walk along the bay and contract one. I also suggest a daytrip to Dalyan, Iztusu and the mud-baths. The beach we liked more is Kumlubuk. Selimiye is also not to be missed. We also made a day trip (by car) to Oludeniz (must go but be ready to pay everything three time what you'd expect in the lagoon park!) and to Pamukkale (the road is a bit bumpy in a few places, but it's a beautiful drive through mountains an plains. Make sure you allow sometimes time to take a stroll in Mugla on your way back). Should you go to Içmeler, stop at the beginning of the bay (coming from Marmaris). Turunç is nice fo a day. Orhaniye bay is beautiful: hire a pedal-boat to avoid the crowd on the beach.
