“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

I stayed here in the annex part of the club and it was an absolutely brilliant hotel. The entertainment every day and night was fantastic and great for children. my 8yr daughter loved it. They are very friendly people and you didn't even have to get up to go to the bar to purchase drinks as the waiters came to your tables as soon as u needed a refill. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and so was the towels and bedding changed too. Out of all the holidays I've had (and I've had many) this is the best by far!! It has 4 swimming pools, (plus kids pool) all with slides and all had a poolside bar. I didn't try the Turkish bath they have too but I was told this was great too. Everything is very cheap and the food was lovely. Great value for money. They have happy hour every night where drinks are BOGOF and cocktails BOGOF (Including soft drinks). The only one criticism I have is that the mugs in the apartment wasn't big enough!! What a fantastic holiday and I can't wait to go back again next year. Well done to club excelsior ;-)
I would rather stay here than a five star hotel and that's saying something!!

Arrived at 4 pm, was checked in quickly. We were given the keys to the room but not shown where our room's were. Got to the room, we were very disappointed!!! We were not expecting anything special, but as soon as we got in we lay down on the bed and all we could feel were metal bars!!! The view from the balcony was rubbish, and i mean that literally, it was like a dumping ground. We asked to move rooms after 2 night's as there were people screaming, fighting and banging until 5 in the morning!!! The second room was much better, we had a pool view, but the bed was no better. The middle section of our sofa bed was higher so it was like sleeping on a camel! The noise was a little better, but not much. The maids were lovely , and always smiling :)
We were a mixed group of half board and self catering (2 families), and the staff were quite rude to us, we were half board, but they were lovely to the one's who were paying. Even though we ate together their food came out a lot faster, and they were spoken to politely, but they couldn't wait to get rid of us. The food was poor, and I heard a lot of people complaining and more food was being sent back than eaten!!! I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but there were hundreds of cats!!! They would climb onto the table and try to eat your food. They also server chip's with everything.
The pool was fantastic and my children really enjoyed it, and the entertainment was brilliant. The atmosphere at night was fantastic, and kind of made me forget about the bad points. On the whole I really did enjoy the holiday but the rooms need upgrading and the staff need to be a lot more polite to the half board guest's, after all they have paid

Good food, good spacious rooms, friendly bar/restaurant staff and also friendly hotel staff and a great entertainment team.We stayed for a week, the weather was great as was the hotel. One of my favourite hotels that I have ever stayed in. My first experience of Turkey and enjoyed it. We stayed in the club excelsior jr. and the staff was excellent. The staff in all three hotels were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment at night was excellent especially at the barbecue night which included break dancers, belly dancers and folk dancers. The food was excellent included turkish dishes and english food . Overall it was a great hotel and a fantastic holiday.

Have just returned from the club exelsior on the 15th Oct. We were there in May and enjoyed it so much we went back. Stayed for 11 nights this time instead of 7 nights, As other reviews state, the rooms are a bit dated but have everything you would need, Kettle, Toaster, etc. I suffer from a bad back and on both occasions have found the beds to be extremely comfortable. We have stayed in the main building and also the junior, both receptions fine. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the maid leaves a little note on your last day(nice touch). IIf anyones looking to get a tattoo then i hightly recommend the shop in the exelsior. The tattooist doesn't speak much english, but Michelle is Scottish and is very pleasant and helpful. I got one in May and got another when i reurned this time, also my boyfriend got his first one and is very pleased with it. The food is ok, nothing special but edible. For other good places to eat nearby i would recommend Trotters, Anfi Bar and Club Dante, all reasonably priced and with 5 min walk from exelsior. Further afield if you're looking for chinese or indian wist the Taj Mahal and Mandarin down near the point approx 25 min walk. All in all we will def go back next year. Rumour has it that the exelsior will be revamped by next year, so looking forward to seeing this.

Room Tip: Rooms without pool view are quiter

Just arrived back home shattered after 2nd visit to Club Excelsior. After speaking to other people we meet in Turkey Club Excelsior is the place to holiday with excellent facilities compared to other hotels in Marmaris. The hotel also has 3 other hotels you can use all next to each other Excelsior Annex, Excesior Junior and Club Ilayda. Facilities are fantastic the pool is cleaned everyday and is spotless there are 4 to choose from with slides and children pools, there are shops on sight which include groceries, clothes, hairdressers and beauty and tattooist, the Turkish Bath Spa is to die for, the children club is run by trained carers and Tom the manager and the entertainment staff are superb and always give you the time of day. There is a full schedual of entertainment from midday to midnight. Cannot wait to go back :-)
The hotel is situated near a residential area but in saying that you can have a quiet holiday to relax or you can walk 100 yards to a main strip where there are bars, restaurants and shops, across the green is John who does excellent cheap trips.
I have to recommend eating at SummerBreeze nearby there is no hastle from Cemal and his staff as in the other bars and the food is delicious.
To get to the beach and Marmaris Harbour just follow the storm drains which run from outside the hotel a 10 minute walk away.
The only place to avoid is Marmaris Market where we saw Police, Army both with guns and the Navy all amongst the vehicles outside which made it look like a war zone very scary.
Highlight of our holiday Turtle Beach where we did see Turtles :-)

Room Tip: Ask for pool view so you have the sun rises and falls in view otherwise you face the mountain and no...

My boyfriend and I have just returned from our "holiday" at the Club Exelsior. This is an honest review of what we encountered- the few pros and unfortunately the numerous cons..
To put this in context, we have been to Turkey before, myself several times, and it is a great country and fantastic place to visit. This was our first visit to Marmaris and our first self catering holiday.
We arrived very early in the morning, and the receptionist was friendly and check in very brief. We were not shown to our room however, we had to find this for ourselves and lumber our own luggage up 4 flights of stairs at 4 o clock in the morning (there was no lift). Obviously this was a fairly cheap holiday and we certainly didn't expect 5 star service but someone to show us to our room after a tiring excursion would have been appreciated.
Once we had settled and had a few hours of sleep we got up to explore our accommodation. It was disappointing to say the least, the curtains were hanging off the rails, plug sockets hanging out the wall, wires exposed, dust pan and brush left in the room and an old smelly sock in the wardrobe just to set the tone.
We went to the welcome meeting, which we felt lacked enthusiasm and was focused more around booking excursions and extra luggage rather than any useful information.
On our first night we decided to stay in the hotel bar and watch the football, we had a couple of reasonably priced drinks and then decided to order some food. What greeted us was a dry crusty old thing that was apparently supposed to represent a pizza. It was absolutely inedible and we didn't eat another morsel in the hotel again.
The local shop was handy to have, just across the road. Some of the goods were reasonably priced, but a can of spaghetti hoops for 8.50 lira?! Ridiculous.
Marmaris itself was nice and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. We spent most days walking down to the marina, which is very charming, but the harassment from the restaurant and bar owners trying to coax you into their establishment wears thin after a while and you start to tire of politely declining. They have a business to run after all, but it would be nice to be able to look at the menu at least without being pounced on.
We found a few nice cafes and restaurants which we frequented, and if you look around long enough you can find food that is good quality and value for money, the luxury mariner offers the best choices for a slightly higher price, but it is worth the difference, if you don't want to risk getting ill.
Back to the hotel, the evening entertainment left a lot to be desired. We didn't stick around after the first night, as tossing toilet rolls to one another and catching them in between your legs, isn't
really to our taste. Bingo seemed to be a 3 times daily highlight for most if the hotel clientele and was accompanied by the most annoying jingle I've ever heard.
The hotel swimming pools are small and dirty, the sunbeds lined up in regimented rows right up against one another allowing you zero personal space. We preferred the small rectangular pool by the annex as this was the one least favoured by children. I know this is a family resort so obviously there were lot of children around which we wouldn't mind even if it was term time(?) but the children at this hotel, were in the majority quite badly behaved, screaming and swearing and running around at all hours. Laser pens were supposed to be banned, but were everywhere, and on on night we witnessed fire works being thrown around like toys.
The housekeeping standards were fairly abysmal, our sheets were not changed once during a 7 night stay, you only get half a toilet roll to last a week, (toilet rolls seem to be prioritised as props for the evening entertainment?!) and the room was full of long black hairs that did not belong to us! One night I got so fed up of them getting stuck to me I just cleaned the place from top to bottom myself!
I would recommend Marmaris, it was cheap and cheerful and ample for a week in the sun. The weather was great and we have no complaints with the hospitality and friendliness of the locals, just perhaps they should allow you a little more breathing space when you walk by their establishments.
But unless you like being kept up all night by screaming kids, arguing drunken couples and chavy teenagers then stay away from Exelsior, i wouldn't return there if someone paid me.

this is the first time we have stayed in the Club Exelsior, although we have been in marmaris many times before. There was a party of 9 travelling, 3 families, age range from 10 years to 46 years. We were expecting to stay at the main building, however, on arrival we were shown the the Junior building, this would turn out to be the best experience for us all. the rooms are indeed in need of some upgrade, but the apartments were clean, and there was enough space for us all. We had a pool view, which was perfect. The junior building was less busy, so there was no problem trying to get a sunbed. We only ate lunch and had a few drinks at the Junior, so couldnt comment on the food in the evening. We went to the BBQ/Turkish night, which was pretty poor, the food was good, however the entertainment was not as we have experienced before. the Belly Dancer was a bit offensive and was not really for a family audience. We went on a boat trip and booked with Uncle John's at the foot of the road, who was very helpful and also changed money there, as we were ripped off at one of the change offices in Marmaris!!! So be very careful of these, in all the years we have been going to Turkey this is the first time this has happened to us. We ate at the Portofino, trotters and September Bar and the Steak house in Armutalan. The weather was amazing.
