John, Paul, Shane and Ali are the most amazing staff you can find - friendly, helpful, attentive. I could go on. They're such lovely people and do not hassle you into spending money on anything (where as staff at every other bar/restaurant/shop/hotel you so much as walk past will not leave you alone and pressure you into coming in). You will feel at home at Blue Palace straight away. But be warned - John will not hesitate to pour a bucket of ice water over you whilst you are sitting by/in the pool!

The cleaning staff (two women - mother and daughter) are also very lovely. Rooms were cleaned every day. Don't pay attention to the horror stories about Blue Palace unless you have very high expectations. For the price you're paying here, you can't afford to be fussy. Having said that, Blue Palace exceeded my (low) expectations. The rooms are spacious - bedroom (with air con), bathroom (with bath and shower head) and a joint living room and kitchen. The balcony is also very spacious with two plastic chairs and a table. The only down side is that the air con is in the bedroom - but it doesn't take long AT ALL to cool the bedroom down which allows the rest of the hotel room to quickly become cooler too. I would recommend bringing your own hair dryer if drying your hair is important to you (it is to me when I'm getting ready in the evenings!) as the one provided in the bathroom will take absolutely ages to dry your hair properly and you'll want to be in the bedroom nearer the air con when drying your hair!

The food is amazing. We ate lunch at the hotel everyday - the cheeseburgers are DIVINE. You can choose to pay straight away or to keep a tab.

In terms of location, Blue Palace is a 2 minute walk from the high street (clothes/gifts shops galore, plenty of restaurants, a supermarket etc) and a 5-7 minute walk from the sea front where you'll find more restaurants and lots of bars and clubs. Most places completely water down alcoholic drinks and some don't put any alcohol in at all (they won't admit this of course). My boyfriend and I chose to instead drink the local beer, Efes, which is really nice and very cheap (5-9 lira depending where you go). Many restaurants offer a 5 course meal for between 13 and 15 lira (less than a fiver!) which I would really recommend. The 5 courses are a large naan-type bread and mezze to share which can be topped up if needed, soup, a main meal, dessert (which is usually just ice cream) and then tea, coffee or a shot. Drinks are not included in the price. By the way - the tea in Turkey isn't very nice but drinkable.

You can also get a dolmus (bus) from the high street to other areas such as Bar Street or Icmeler (nicer beach) which takes 10minutes tops and is only 1 or 2 lira which is really good! The dolmus will stop wherever you want it to and there also bus stands to wait at.

You can call home from the hotel. It costs about 4/5 lira for a 5 minute conversation or about 12 lira to call mobile phones. I would recommend getting a phone card for about 5 lira which gives you 10 minutes talk time. I topped up £20 on my phone and it was gone after about 2-3 days! The phone card is brilliant.

The hotel pool is quite deep. Well then again I'm only 5ft so I'd say it's about 5"10-6" deep. However there is a little pool next to it for small children or for those of us who can't swim and just want to sit in it to cool down! There's never a shortage of sun beds but the pool side ones get snapped up in the early morning.

Anyway I'll wrap this up. All in all - I couldn't recommend Blue Palace enough. Best hotel EVER!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the 4th floor! The rooms are a little bit bigger (I had a room on the first flo...

we stayed at blue palace 30-8-12 for 2 weeks.. ive been to marmaris 5 times worst place ive stayed in
the room we were given was in the basement.. were they dumped all the old chairs and matresses. but the kittens slept on top of that most of the day..which wasnt nice
the whole place needed a good clean.
the bathroom had mold, and my clothes smelt of damp. we spoke to an old scottish fella he said the room we had was never used.. nee wonder the draws fell apart lol
the hotel staff were ok. if you spent your lira at the small pool bar you were ok if you didnt spend they never spoke.. the meals were cheaper down the road drinks were too didnt bother with air con as it was only in bedroom hired a big fan for 10 pounds a week carried it everywhere much better lol only a 5 min walk to beach 10 mins walk to the bars which are fantastic.. apparently the blue palace is having a make over for next season just a pity it wasnt when we were there.pool is tiny if you like swimming!!!!!!!!! another tip turn right out of the appartments then left, then right up a wee bank then right again see a bar called cousin buy one get one free all day and night do an english breakfast for a pound lol i love marmaris would go back in a flash apartment were a let down cleaners did work hard bless ...

Room Tip: dont get basement apartments there horrible

The hotel itself is very small with the need of a lot of TLC,the games room above the pool bar is run down with a pool table that has damaged balls and cues, the rooms are small i was in 506 which is on the top floor they are also very hot the air conditioning is worth while £50 for 2 weeks but is only in the bedroom, the pool is very small and not a lot of space to sit around it.The best thing about the hotel is the staff that work there (John, Ringo,Paul and george) they actual go out their way to make your stay that bit special and are always willing to help, the maids are also good at their job rooms were clean and tidy everyday when we went back to our room.Food at the hotel is average and is a resonable price, just don't go for the half chicken as they order that in from a local takeway and when i had it i had to wait nearly 2 hours.Overall the staff are the best about the hotel john ringo paul and george would always speak to you and make sure you are looked after. If you are after a cheap self catering hotel then this is the place to go if however you want to be near the night life and have entertainment all day long then this hotel is not the place to go.

Well I am surprised to see a few bad reviews for blue palace! Obviously some ppl are never happy. I have stayed here july 11, october 2011 and july 2012 and can honestly say I don't have a single complaint(exvept maybe that we need sexy george and chef george back) location perfect, walking distance to beach. Cleanliness fantastic, maids are great, food great, value fab! But the best part is its such a small hotel that u are forced to meet people and omg some fantastic ppl I have met...yes we r the rowdy ones who sit by the baby pool(shoot us now) I have met friends for life here and what more can you ask for in a holiday! The staff are fantastic especially yavuz(paul) who works so hard to make everyone welcome. Please anyone reading reviews who havnt been before don't listen to the couple of untrue ones, listen to the hundreds of good ones! Blue palace all the way :)
