“lovely hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

stayed in the bluebay for 2 weeks in june. hotel is very clean and the staff work very hard the food is excellent eventhough im a really fussy eater, they try with vegatarians but this still needs some thought. the hotel is very very noisy not the fault of the hotel but other inconsiderate guests banging doors, talking/shouting loudly. entertainment was ok they try ! animation team are very loud and try to get people to join in, in if your young they will try to drag you off your sun bed which we witnessed. trips by thompsons are very expensive we walked down the road and booked ours they at a fraction of the price which were excellent. we booked scuba dive with thompson which was the worst we have every had its a 'dry' dive ! being held onto by instructors, no food all day (9-6.30) when we complained were told there was food ! and the company was upset about our complaint ! no thought about us being upset and paying £40 per person . this is not a platinum hotel food is only served at certain times of the day, no poolside service, no extra service and no waiters, i have been to serveral platinium and you pay for the extra service at the hotel, you do not get it at this one. the rooms are comfortable and clean but ours had a awful smell from bathroom coming from vent which we covered with a towel to stop it. the hotel is about a hour walk to the center of marmaris but a lovely walk along the front to the harbour. we found hotel mainly russian with many children whom appear to have no regard for anyne else. but yet again this is not a reflection on the hotel itself. beach is walking distance but its shingle we went to iclemer for the day to use the beach but its not much different alothough shops are cheaper there.

We booked a holiday for 2 weeks at the hotel and thank you Thomson it was fantastic and we are well travelled people! Where to start .... We had 2 rooms close by each other, they were modern, clean and big enough with regards to space .... how big do you want a room? Unless you are bigger than the average size there is plenty of space.....the only thing I can moan about is cleaning is done between 9-5 if your room is last on the list it will be in the late afternoon so dont expect to have a nap, use the do not disturb sign and the room does not get cleaned. Weather temp is 40 plus very HOT animation is good and for my grandsons they were entertained with the with the daily activities, its up to you if you want to join in. There was never a problem with the sun beds they have nailed this on the head, this is organized by Ali who controls the pools-and there are 4 to choose from.

Food me and my hubby are fussy eaters but there is plenty of choice, only meat that was not on the menu was Pork and you could hear some guests asking for it, you are in a Muslim country what do you expect.
The snacks ts are very good and my grandsons loved this at lunch time instead of going into the restaurant, and we were shocked to see ice creams and waffles given out in the afternoon along with different drinks to follow. General area was Very clean and the staff work very Hard. I have a walking difficult and use the aid of a crutch but nothing was to much trouble for the lads and lasses!
If you need advise or a shoulder to cry on Nicola she gave me back confidence and she went the extra mile. I was in the town centre and nearly bought some gold £600 only to be told not to put any cream on it as it would turn black? so on asking her advice she advised me to be careful. Hence I never bought it. Nicola you are a 5 star plus rating and I will never forget you. Great location plenty of shops and restaurants cafes on the doorstep. Never saw any trouble in the hotel or outside it .Reception was very helpful but I did hear others talking down to them Why? Big thank you to the general manager for my last day, this hotel really do care for their guests ...........over all I would recommend this hotel for all ages and I will be booking to come back very soon. Thank you Blue Bay Platinum xxx

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel with one of my friends. The entertainment staff were there from ten till late and even went on nightly trips to bar street if you wanted to go with a free mini bus there and back. I have to give a shout out to AJEM not sure if that is spelt right but she was fantastic and deserves a raise. The food was great but only really had the chicken most nights. The waffles from the snack bar are amazing. The Wifi was great to begin with but after two days we could only get this in the lobby. The room was lovely and cool with the air con. If you are travelling to Turkey I recommend that you take your English money as this is just as widely accepted as the Lira. Me and my friend also went scuba diving on this trip as we had a free try in the pool before we went to try this in the sea and for £30.00 this was a bargain and would highly recommend this.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pools

EXCELLENT ! Thank you Blue Bay and all the Magnificent staff.
We were cancelled by GND Hotel as it was unfinished. We rebooked (thankfully) at the Blue Bay Platinum, Marmaris. We were instantly happy with the outside of this 5 Star hotel and it just got better.
My wife, 3 teenage daughters and I were looked after straight away. The happy reception staff and bell boys couldn't do enough. The Manager of the hotel booked our rooms close to each other (there are 4 blocks with 414 rooms) and 'Vahab' made it very easy.
We were shown to our lovely seaview rooms as requested and were amazing. The food was buffet style and plentiful - lots of variety such as salads, breads, fruits, hot meals, soups and a lot of stuff we couldn't label. They label most things but is always worth asking what is what.
There are 5 pools -all nice. The evening entertainment is selectable as you are so close to the beach and main strip that an easy detour isn't far away.
There are very colourful and enthusiastic 'touts' along the main roads selling anything and everything from clothes to trips. My advice is say 'Thank You' as you walk past if you are not interested. They can be pushy and rude if you don't buy!! Be careful of the shopkeepers switching from TL to £ to Euro's as they will try to maximise their profits. Stick to YOUR price.
The water taxis are a must! We went to Icmeler and Turunc to the market. You will find clothing at this market as others will not, due to recent legislation. The water sports are overpriced and the Turkish baths off the resort will always try to add on extra's such as mud baths and facials which are mediocre unfortunately.
That's enough about that - the temperature will challenge you to say the least and its getting hotter so be careful in July and August. The Blue Bay has a nice indoor pool for you to retreat whilst enjoying fresh juice or a coffee from the snack bar and battered fish, chips, pizza and salad - you can ask for a toastie as I did for my lovely wife!!
Blue Bay is top notch
Plus, cocktails start at 10! ;)

Room Tip: Speak to Vahab - he will sort it out

My boyfriend and I stayed here from 3 - 10 July and had a lovely time. We had a late flight and so arrived at the hotel in the early hours of the morning - the reception staff were very efficient and got us checked in quickly. We then had our bags taken up to our room by the bell boy - this was a nice bonus seeing as we were absolutely shattered from travelling.

Room - lovely and clean and we had a pool view which was great - I had emailed the hotel previous to our stay to ask for this so do this if you can - I had read reviews before saying that you definitely do not want a road view.

Food - really good selection and always hot which is rare in these big hotels. You have a choice of either the main restaurant or the pool bar for lunch time. We ate at the pool bar once and it was OK. Burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza, chips etc. We preffered to eat in the main restaurant at lunch.

You will certainly never go hungry at this hotel! Food served pretty much all the time and there is ice cream and waffles avaliable about 3pm which are yummy.

The waiters and waitressers are excellent and at hand the whole time.

There is a good variety of pools. My boyfriend and I always went to the 'relax pool' which is round at the back of the hotel. MUCH nicer than the other pools without the loud music and there is a bar around there where you can get your drinks. We never struggled to get a sunbed and we didn't rush down at the crack of dawn.

The hotel is located on the main road although you don't notice this when inside the hotel. It takes about 40 minutes to walk into the centre of Marmirus down by the beach or you can get a bus which costs 2.50 TL (very reasonable!). The buses stop outside the hotel every 10 minutes.

The hotel beach is not great..... they pack as many people as they can on to it. We took a bus (again 2.50 TL and stops outside hotel every 10 mins) to Icmeler which has a very pretty beach and it is much more relaxing.

I would just like to say how lovely and helpful Paula and Nicola were - Paula is the thomson rep for the hotel and as it is her only hotel she really takes care of her guests to ensure they have a great holiday. Nicola is the guest relations manager and will do anything to again, ensure you are having a great time. Thank you both of you - you certainly added that little bit extra to our holiday to make it special.

As we had a late flight back we booked ourselves onto the 'Dalyan check out' excursion which was great and costs £45. You get picked up at 8am by a coach which takes you to Dalyan where you get onto a boat which goes down the river and go and have fun in the mud bathes and sulpher pools - you then have lunch and go and see the tombs/relax on a beautiful sandy beach which they call 'turtle beach'.You then get taken to another hotel near to the airport where you can freshen up and have a few hours sleep etc. Please be advised though that the food on this excursion is not great and the hotel that you get taken to is definitely nothing compared to the Blue Bay Platinum!

We were told that our pick up time for the airport would be 11.10pm so we waited and we waited.....until the bus finally came at 12.30am!! The bus driver did not apologise and he drove at about 100mph to the airport - terrifying and he definitely isn't showing a good face for thomson. The trip is well worth it though if you have a late flight.

Spa - very good. Antonio is great and advises you on all the spa have to offer. We had a hamman which was lovely and relaxing followed by a face mask and a fish pedicure.

Altogether, we had a lovely holiday and have definitely re-charged our batteries. Thank you to all the staff at the Blue Bay Platinum.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool are much better. We were on 3rd floor and had no problems at all.

Stayed at Bluebay Platinum on the 23rd June - 3rd July.

From the moment we had stepped in the hotel we had great service.

Rooms were immaculate and very spacious - cleaned on daily basis.

Choice of food for breakfast was great and dinner you could either eat out by the pool (chicken nuggets, fish, pizza, chips) or eat inside - range of food varied everyday. around 4pm by the pool, waffles and ice cream was on offer.

Food for evening meal on the other hand was great and a big variety of food but it seemed like there was not a full set meal to eat - bits and bobs - so would of been nice to have a range of actual meals.

La Carte is on offer & you can have 1 visit per stay - food was lovely! one of the best meals I had eaten over in Turkey.

Would also recommend Mr Cooks restaurant down by the harbour.

Entertainment staff were lovely and very friendly - always trying to get you involved. Lots of pool games from 11 in the morning & later on in the afternoon there was belly dancing and also some adult drinking games too which was very funny to watch.

Would highly recommend the turkish bath - Antonio who may i add was lovely & always signing (hellooo is it me your looking for) sold this to us & deff one of the best bits the hotel had to offer.

All staff was pleasant and always willing to help - nothing was too much trouble for them.

beach is a 5 min walk from the back of the hotel and is very clean.

would stay here again 100% and would highly recommend this to anyone.
