After a 2 hr transfer from Dalaman, we arrived in the lobby and were very pleased with what we saw. The hotel is very modern, very clean. It has a fantastic location right on the beach with it's own private jetty. This has sunbeds, mattresses and huge cushions. Also platforms at various depths to swim off. There's waiter service as well. The hotel has two pools. Smaller one at front, with pool bar, music, entertainment at night. The beach is right in front. The other pool is at the back, it's a large pool with a hugh waterfall, pool bar and games. There is also a kids pool. Plenty of sunbeds when we went, sometimes we were the only ones there (and there were 9 of us)! We had a junior suite which was two spacious rooms, TV sofa, table and chairs, air conditioning (temperamental). The bathroom had a great power shower. The room was quite warm at times and we had a leak from under the bath, which after 4 attempts at getting fixed, we gave up, it wasn't that bad. I would definately go back to this hotel, staff were nice. Breakfast was a buffet, it was good, plenty of selection. We stayed half board, we only ate once in evening, it was good, but next night nothing really for kids. They have a great spa, had a thai massage. Great hotel.

Just returned from a very dissapointing two weeks at the Elegance.
It appears that they have lost their way and if you are not an all inclusive guest you are treated as a second class guest.
The room that we had was allright although not a sea view, spaceious enough but with a leaking bath/shower that seeped into the carpet, so each time we entered the room we were greeted with a damp smell. The bin would go un-emptied for 3 days at a time and often we had to ask for hand towels and bath mat that seemed to get forgotten, cleaning of the room was non exisistant during the two weeks other than changing the sheets and towels. Mini bar was very expensive and to be avoided. On the second night the air conditioning went off and when we enquired at reception we were told that it was too cold to have it on and that it was controlled automatically. When it was on it was set at 22 degrees c, however the following day it came back on set at 20 degreesc. despite the evening temperatures being much cooler, it was needed as inside the hotel and rooms it was quite stuffy.
The staff with the exception of Kamel in the dinning room were un-helpfull and generally could not care less, we found this to be very strange as we have holidayed in Turkey for many years and have always found the people to be nothing other than very friendly and helpful, Not the case at the Elegance.
The food was a disgrace never hot and at times cold the choice was limited and as the days went on it was very obvious that it was recycled from day to day, the last straw for us was the Saturday night dinner, the two meat choices were Doner meat dried out and looking very unappertising and the second choice was chicken meat balls (processed meat) at this point we gave up eating at the hotel and eat all the rest of our meals in very good local restaurant's. Strangly being on half board we were not allowed to have anything to drink with the evening meal the watery juice, water and coffee was only for the all inclusive guests.
We went to the evening entertainment at the pool and from the bar asked for two Gin and Tonics , only local Gin and Tonic and was asked for 30 YTL almost £15 at which point I said you can keep them and we never had a drink at the hotel for the rest of the holiday.
We have eaten at the hotel some 10 years ago when friends were staying there and had a good experience which lead to us booking this hotel, it however has declined beyond recognition.

The look of this hotel from the front entrance was lovely and the lobby and bars are lovely looking.
We specifically chose this hotel for the 5* as I am 4 months pregnant and we wanted comfort and relaxation.
This was our 3rd time to Marmaris and we HAD enjoyed it throughly.
First night we moved rooms at 11pm as the noise from the front bar and the side bars was so loud it was like being at a fairground. We moved to a garden room, but it was alot smaller.
Second and third night we were in so much pain from the ROCK hard beds. My shoulder still feels pain now. I took a big pillow from the pool to try get comfortable.
Nothing the hotel can do but other holiday makers put the TV on at all hours of the early morning.
Third day I asked for a more comfortable bed or to get a flight home as I was so sick of the beds, food and noise. I cant beleive people think the rott they feed you can be 5*. Its same old cucumber, tomatoes, eggs for breakfast, every day. We went half board and dinner was made up of a nice salad. You had a choice of pasta and usually turkey or lamb every night. We had to eat out cos the smell of the resturant was off putting enough for us both.
Outside near the pool and on the pier they sold beautiful food but the half boarders got bogg standard rubbish. You did not even get a discount to eat in the other resturants.
On top of that, we all know mini bars are very expensive but they put things in Euro so to confuse you and said you would get charged for anything you brought into your room.
Cost of water outside was .55 TYL to 1 YTL. (20p - 50p) They charge 6TYL (2.50) at dinner! Complete rob, to go with your pig food.
We spoke to customer relations and they put a extra duvet on the bed, that was a centirmetre thick! made no difference whats so ever. I advised them that the drinks were to expensive and the food was poor. They did nothing just said they would pass on comments.
Marmaris has changed over the years too. Everything thing you do they want to charge you. One of them even asked for money cos you were putting rubbish in a bin! Things have gone up in price and they hassle to much. The time we were there every bar had old music on, more focused on older people than young. It used to be fun and cheap. Its no cheaper than England now.
Best thing about Marmaris in the lovely sea, mountain and Taj Mahal, who originates from Bradford!.

My wife and I have travelled the world and have been the guest of many 5 star hotels and have gained some idea of the standards involved and what we have come to expect. We took a last minute weeks break at this hotel despite being a little concerned at previous reviews on this hotel. Our experience however was totally different in so far as we had one of the most pleasant holidays we have had in a long time. In our opinion this is a true 5 star hotel with excellent service. All staff were friendly and true professionals. In particular Oznur Yekjan at the office of Guest Relations was most helpful and while she was just doing her job in helping guests it was the manner in which she went about it always helpful and smiling which reflected the standard of service throughout the hotel. Our room was very quiet overlooking the 'quiet' pool and the food was excellent in the buffet restaurant (we went half board) and plentiful We have tried hard to think of something negative to say about the Elegance and can't find anything. It goes without saying we will be back!

We booked this 5* hotel as we had heard that the lower star hotels were pretty poor - this proved to be wrong. Yes the hotel looked plush and expensive, had nice bars, restaurants, shops, pools, etc. but the staff have obviously been trained not to be too familiar with the guests as they hardly spoke to you, did not smile or say hello unless you did first and were rather stand offish. Basically there was no atmosphere or life in the hotel and considering how much life and atmosphere there was in the rest of Marmaris this was quite surprising. Also, with it being a 5* hotel the prices of drinks, internet connection, etc. were a rip off.

Luckily we only booked bed and breakfast so were able to eat out at other restaurants which were all really good even the local Turkish kebab takeaways! We used the sunbeds on the beach next to the hotel (these were free you just had to buy a drink) as we didn't like being on the pier that belonged to the Elegance hotel.

All in all it is a lovely looking hotel with nice rooms, etc. and in a good location but the unfriendly staff and lack of atmosphere let it down badly. If I were to return to Marmaris I would not go back to this hotel I would probably look for a 3 or 4* like the Yuvam Hotel next door which is more basic but extremely friendly and helpful.

Elegance was a decent hotel in Marmaris -- a town which ranks as one of the trashiest places i've been.

On first glance, you get there and think that it is a very nice hotel with some great amenities. The pool is very nice, as is the lobby, and the long pier with comfortable seats seems like a great place to lounge and take in the beautiful scenery.

However, upon further inspection you will find that the perfectly acceptable looking gym has very little functioning equipment and was so hot you couldn't work out. The spa is nice, but the hot tub was cold and wouldn't warm.

One word of mention, the place is EXTREMELY LOUD both during the day and at night, and you can't sit anywhere except the back pool without loud techno music giving you a headache. When asking the owner to turn it down a bit, he gawked and said "this is our image" and kept playing it quite loud. This poses an overall problem at night, especially in May, as the rooms get quite hot but according to the management "we can't turn on the air conditioning until it gets REALLY hot". Thus at night you have 2 options: 1. Sleep in a hot, stuffy room with no vent. 2. Open your windows/sliding door but not sleep because Marmaris has an affinity for blasting loud music until 4am.

I'm not much of a cynic, but for an acclaimed hotel I was expecting much more, and was thoroughly disappointed with Elegance and Marmaris in general. The food was terrible as were the smattering of overweight tourists looking for a deal.

Sue and Jane,
Yeovil, Somerset.
Stayed 5th to 12th May,
On a positive note this hotel is as described 5 star and in an excellent location, but we encountered a few problems. As ardent travellers when visiting countries with no tea or coffee making facilities in the room we always take our own travel kettle. On our first morning we stocked up on water and milk for our tea and coffee and coke for our duty free vodka, on entering the hotel we were stopped by the security guard who told us that he would have to take the goods from us as they were not allowed in the rooms due to health and hygiene reasons, and that if we wanted drinks we could get them from room service. Which shoots down the health and hygiene ploy because they send food and drinks to the room. Beware the mini bar is well stocked but you will pay 2 pounds for a can of coke. We did not hand over our goods and they never bothered us again. Another problem was they had not got the air conditioning on as they claimed it was not hot enough, but the only way we could sleep was to leave open the doors at night, as a result we got eaten alive. We enquired at other hotels and found that they had their air conditioning on. We found they had no interest in us as guests. There was little choice of food at meal times, and the only fruit available was an apple and a orange that looked like it had seen better days, not what you would expect of 5 star. The entertainment was very amateurish.
