“Good but not 5*”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2012

3 girls stayed from 19.05.12 for 1 week.

Location - Excellent. Beach 2 mins walk away. Icelemar short bus ride away. On the main road so easy access to shops, restaurants, Marmaris centre.

Hotel - Beautiful hotel with contemporary decor. Very clean (it is brand new). There are some major teething problems and it appears that no research as to what a 5* hotel should be was done prior to it opening. We had a triple room - one double bed and one single bed. We asked if this could be changed to 3 single beds but were told they do not have this type of room.

Our air con did not work. We told Reception on 3 occasions over 3 days and they sent someone to our room to fix it. As we were not in we assumed it had been fixed however it was not...they just left it broken and they did not tell us. On the third occasion we stayed in the room until it was fixed. We heard a number of people requesting help for issues (dripping taps, quality of food, shower leaking etc) with their room but recieved a blank response from reception!!!

We wanted to use an iron so requested one. A lady appeared at our door with an iron but told us it cost 5euros. She said she does the ironing so we would have to give her the garment. We declined to pay. We informed Guest Relations and he said an iron is not standard and that this was too much to deal with..walking away from us!!!

The lighting in the room was awful. We could not see ourselves clearly, thus putting make-up on was difficult.

We were very disappointed with the spa facilities. Were told that there was a sauna and steam room. The latter was not there!!! The jacuzzi was not open. Treatments expensive in comparison to other places. There are limited lockers.

Pool - Clean but relatively small for the amount of people and limited sun lounges, meaning that you would have to get up early to secure a lounger. Relaxing, however, when the animation team are around they do not appear to understand the concept of relaxation. Also if your sun lounger is in close proximity to the stage, move away or you may find the animation team trying to involve you in their games. Need a deposit for towels.

Trips - booked at 5M Travel with Jack. He speaks fluent English and we felt we got good deals. Went to Turtle Beach and Pammukale. Although they were good, they were both very long days including long journey times. Approx 12 hours per trip. Had a Turkish bath - The hotel is very expensive so we booked ours with Jack including an oil massage - fab.

Food - Good variety unless you are a vegetarian. There is a lot of salad but lacking vegetarian hot food...the veggie in our party mostly lived off bread and cheese The seating is limited so if you do not got to dinner for 7pm on the dot you will struggle to get a table. The quality excluding the desserts was good. You have to pay for bottle water between 12am and 10am - this is ridiculous for a 5* hotel. Following lunch (2.30pm) no snacks available until 5pm when they have 'cookie time'. This consists of limited poor quality, tasteless biscuits which are not enough for the amount of people.

Staff - This really let the hotel down. Although they were friendly, if they could not assist they just smiled at you and ignored the issue which was frustrating to say the least. The language barrier was also a struggle. The Guest Realtions Manager needs to be more helpful rather than say things are too much to deal with i.e when we asked for an iron!!!

Animation team - Serious work needs to be done. They were annoying and did not allow people to relax with their silly games and requests for people to join in even though they did not want to. That said, they did have good english and were pleasant enough.

Overall, we would recomend this hotel, if they iron out their teething problems and provide a 5* service.

Room Tip: We had a side sea view room (room 1414) and the cockerals were loud and proud...avoid if you want a...

Like many other people my partner and I took advantage of the cheap offer advertised on an online travel site.
On our arrival we were met with a modern, pretty looking hotel and swiftly queued up to check in. Unfortunately I had not printed off my "voucher" and this was required for the hotel to process my reservation. The chap behind the counter kindly offered the computer within the lobby and all was sorted within a few minutes.
Having obtained our key we were initially given room 1421 on the 4th floor, however on finding the air conditioning was not working, and after a failed repair attempt by the handy man we were moved to room 1221.
The rooms are compact but well designed, the sink is part of the main room as shown in my photos and behind is the large wet room which bizarrely lets you view your travelling companion on the bed or vice versa (albeit a frosted section covering the "essential bits"). The bed was extremely comfortable and with the aircon set we had an excellent nights sleep, something which continued throughout the week.
On exploring the hotel the following day we started at breakfast in the main dining room, this is the usual affair in AI hotels and consisted of a vast buffet of hot and cold fare, and some fresh to order omelettes and little pancakes. The restaurant is clean and well stocked, staff were happy to take drink orders and remove finished plates swiftly, however on a number of occasions many people including us a couple of times were left standing waiting for tables due to there not being enough, particularly at dinner times.
The pool area i felt was the hotel's achilles heal, it is a single pool of a decent size, however due to the outside plot not being the biggest this minimised the amount of sun beds available, and unless you were prepared to get up at the crack of dawn you lost out. The pool area also contains one of the two bars within the hotel in which you could obtain your drinks throughout the day. Whilst i mention the bar this served the following drinks as part of the AI option.
Effe Beer
White/Red wine
Local vodka/Rake/Gin/Brandy
Cocktails made from the above spirits
Coffee
Soft Drinks

Any other drink was extra however this selection seemed to suit even the most hardened drinker, and with the measures given you are guaranteed to be one within your weeks stay!

Back to the pool. As mentioned the number of sun beds were limited, however a 20 second walk down the hill and you were on the beach. For us it was adequate and contained more sun beds and a place for us to read a book and listen to the iPod. However the beach is small, three rows of sun beds and you were at the water's edge. The water was crystal clear, warm and made for very pleasant swimming conditions. The beach seemed to be part of a large cove surrounded by mountains all around, with an opening to allow boats in and out. Very pleasant!

Other facilities included a single a la carte restaurant which we dined in once during our week. This was an extra 8 euro per person and consisted of a 4 course meal which was very tasty, and on checking the daily menu seemed to change every day. There is also a spa in the basement which houses the sauna, 2 x turkish baths and a small gym which are all free of charge. We finally gave in to the spa manager who regularly patrolled the beach and pool area making you aware of the facility and available treatments. We both paid for a full body massage albeit different techniques and both cost £40 each.

All in all we had an enjoyable week, the food was varied and tasty and the drinks were plentiful as and when we required them. Like all hotels the animation teams can be a little tiring, however they have a job to do and the first couple of nights the entertainment was excellent (traditional turkish dancing, local break dancers, and some ballroom dancing).
The wifi finally worked and although I was told it would be chargeable we have managed to log in everyday with no charge (the user name and a password is shown on the log in screen).

The only negatives in my opinion were as follows:

Pool - As mentioned
Safe in room chargeable at 2 euros a day
Reception staff not overly helpful and sometimes rude (answering mobile mid conversation)
Cockerels - Our room was at the front of the hotel and we were awoken daily by the bloody things, sometimes two decided to have a competition to see who could be the loudest!

As mentioned overall we had a great holiday and for the price we can't really complain.

Just returned from this hotel and really loved it. We were a bit worried about going to a hotel which just opened but was very happy when we arrived. Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The bedrooms were lovely and we were lucky enough to be over looking the pool and beach. The only thing I would say about the bedrooms is it needed the lighting to be a bit brighter to get ready at night. They had a jewellery store on site, with some beautiful jewellery, and the owners Tahir and Nesli were vey friendly and helpful for all your needs, and were vey reasonable. We went into Marmaris town on the bus which was about 10 mins away and bought some named hooded tops which were very good copies, but be careful as we paid £28 each for them, but later in the holiday bought the same ones for £12 each so you can easily get ripped off. We also bought some beautiful shoes but again be careful how much you pay for them. All in all we had a great holiday and will definately go back to this hotel again if they don,t put the price up to steeply.

We arrived on opening week so expected there to be few minor hiccups. We enjoyed our stay but the hotel is definitely not 5*.
The rooms were nice, although the cockerel’s just outside, the flashing light from the card holder and the fire alarm most mornings drove me insane! I would recommend paying the bit extra for a sea facing room.
The food was nice but on a few occasions cold, often had to hunt around for plates and cutlery. We struggled to get a table most nights. This did get better as the week progressed and the staff became more experienced.
The pool was good but not enough sun beds and by the end of the week we were having to pay a £20 deposit per towel!
From a 5* all inclusive hotel I would not have expected this, in addition there was a 2 euro daily charge to use the safe in our room, plus additional payments for the a la carte restaurant. I would have expected there to some kind of snack bar, especially free ice creams for the kids.
The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome, the management and reception staff were not so helpful and quite aggressive in their attitude. One receptionist stopped me mid conversation to answer her mobile phone!!
The location of the hotel is brilliant, the scenery is beautiful and you can take a pleasant stroll along the beach into the town or catch the bus which goes every 5 minutes for only 2 lira.
Overall, we did enjoy our stay. I expect in a few months time the hotel will be lovely. It definitely has the potential but I really think more time should have been spent on training staff making sure that all areas of the hotel ran as smoothly as possible.

We were also among the foolhardy/brave who booked this hotel as part of the opening offer and were among the first guests to arrive on the opening day, to be welcomed with a glass of champagne and a handshake from the hotel manageress and the 'Guest Relations Manager' Izzet (more of him later). Both gave us some good information about the hotel and made it clear that some facilities were not yet available. As I was concerned I may be sitting next a cement mixer while eating my lunch this was not a problem - in fact apart from a few teething troubles which could be laughed off (like the lift lottery!) I was impressed with how together things were.
The gym, spa, shops, barbers and a la carte restaurant all opened up during the opening week and seemed to offer excellent facilities. So, what to make of this 5-star establishment in it's opening week?

Good:
Food - outstanding choice and some wonderful dishes, definite high point
Rooms - comfy, good air con, wet room, balcony, minibar, safe, TV etc
Service - really friendly, bar staff a bit inexperienced but so pleasant, waiting staff started to get a bit stretched as the week got busier but again lovely people
Pool - very well kept, with pool bar and sunbeds

Not so Good:
Izzet - for a 'Guest Relations Manager' I found him very brusque and not particularly helpful or knowledgeable; hopefully this will improve as he is the blot on the landscape of the other staff
Beach - hotel has loungers etc on the beach but the beach itself is not very good - go to Icmeler instead and use one of the bars
Entertainment - Alf (!) and his colleague persisted in trying to provide entertainment during the week which wasn't really in keeping with the clientele, more suited to a place with young families or the 18-30 crowd - music also very loud and invasive when trying to relax by the pool.
Information - no folders in the room and only some in reception, none of which were in English - a small point but one which should have been sorted out before opening.
Chickens! - there are some VERY loud cockerels residing across the road, so I would suggest if you are on that side of the hotel you take earplugs. I got warned off taking things into my own hands and purchasing one of the high power catapults at Icmeler market but was sorely tempted!

Overall, I wouldn't be put off by these minor gripes, hopefully things will iron out as this has the potential to be an outstanding hotel.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the side of the hotel above the reception, unless you like a cockerel dawn chorus that...

Just returned from the Casa De Maris. What a lovely hotel! Like everyone else we were very apprehensive as we arrived on the first day of opening. We needn't have worried,it was lovely. There were a few teething problems for a couple of days but nothing major. When we left on th 21st the Internet still wasn't up and running nor the Pay as You Go TV and the Spa didn't have the music connected which would have made it more relaxing as when you had treatments you could hear people talking outside.Apart from this minor problem we had a wonderful head massage and the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent,so much so that we have both put on a few pounds!!The pool area is lovely and the general decor of the hotel is very nice. The staff were all very nice and couldn't do enough for you.The hotel is situated in a lovely position with gorgeous views of the sea and mountains. It is inbetween Icmeler and the centre of Marmaris and we would stroll to either each day (45mins) which was perfect. It cost 20 lira by taxi. All in all we had a fabulous holiday and will definitely return! Just a warning to anyone that is booking a transfer don't use A2B transfers.!!! When we arrived at the airport to get our transfer at 11pm they told us we were booked on the 11am transfer so it took ages to get another transfer and then coming home we had to get a taxi because they were supposed to pick us up at 6.25pm and apparently they came at 11am.(so they said) This happened to another couple so luckily we could share a taxi to the airport This cost about £60!!!!
