Like many other people my partner and I took advantage of the cheap offer advertised on an online travel site.
On our arrival we were met with a modern, pretty looking hotel and swiftly queued up to check in. Unfortunately I had not printed off my "voucher" and this was required for the hotel to process my reservation. The chap behind the counter kindly offered the computer within the lobby and all was sorted within a few minutes.
Having obtained our key we were initially given room 1421 on the 4th floor, however on finding the air conditioning was not working, and after a failed repair attempt by the handy man we were moved to room 1221.
The rooms are compact but well designed, the sink is part of the main room as shown in my photos and behind is the large wet room which bizarrely lets you view your travelling companion on the bed or vice versa (albeit a frosted section covering the "essential bits"). The bed was extremely comfortable and with the aircon set we had an excellent nights sleep, something which continued throughout the week.
On exploring the hotel the following day we started at breakfast in the main dining room, this is the usual affair in AI hotels and consisted of a vast buffet of hot and cold fare, and some fresh to order omelettes and little pancakes. The restaurant is clean and well stocked, staff were happy to take drink orders and remove finished plates swiftly, however on a number of occasions many people including us a couple of times were left standing waiting for tables due to there not being enough, particularly at dinner times.
The pool area i felt was the hotel's achilles heal, it is a single pool of a decent size, however due to the outside plot not being the biggest this minimised the amount of sun beds available, and unless you were prepared to get up at the crack of dawn you lost out. The pool area also contains one of the two bars within the hotel in which you could obtain your drinks throughout the day. Whilst i mention the bar this served the following drinks as part of the AI option.
Cocktails made from the above spirits
Any other drink was extra however this selection seemed to suit even the most hardened drinker, and with the measures given you are guaranteed to be one within your weeks stay!
Back to the pool. As mentioned the number of sun beds were limited, however a 20 second walk down the hill and you were on the beach. For us it was adequate and contained more sun beds and a place for us to read a book and listen to the iPod. However the beach is small, three rows of sun beds and you were at the water's edge. The water was crystal clear, warm and made for very pleasant swimming conditions. The beach seemed to be part of a large cove surrounded by mountains all around, with an opening to allow boats in and out. Very pleasant!
Other facilities included a single a la carte restaurant which we dined in once during our week. This was an extra 8 euro per person and consisted of a 4 course meal which was very tasty, and on checking the daily menu seemed to change every day. There is also a spa in the basement which houses the sauna, 2 x turkish baths and a small gym which are all free of charge. We finally gave in to the spa manager who regularly patrolled the beach and pool area making you aware of the facility and available treatments. We both paid for a full body massage albeit different techniques and both cost £40 each.
All in all we had an enjoyable week, the food was varied and tasty and the drinks were plentiful as and when we required them. Like all hotels the animation teams can be a little tiring, however they have a job to do and the first couple of nights the entertainment was excellent (traditional turkish dancing, local break dancers, and some ballroom dancing).
The wifi finally worked and although I was told it would be chargeable we have managed to log in everyday with no charge (the user name and a password is shown on the log in screen).
The only negatives in my opinion were as follows:
Pool - As mentioned
Safe in room chargeable at 2 euros a day
Reception staff not overly helpful and sometimes rude (answering mobile mid conversation)
Cockerels - Our room was at the front of the hotel and we were awoken daily by the bloody things, sometimes two decided to have a competition to see who could be the loudest!
As mentioned overall we had a great holiday and for the price we can't really complain.
