Blue Lagoon Hotel Marmaris
Ranked #162 of 234 Hotels in Marmaris
Reviewed October 11, 2013

Me and my partner have just arrived home from a week's stay. It was our first time to Turkey and there are some things you should be aware of before looking to book this hotel.
- when checking in - you will be asked if you want a safe. (As we had money and passports to keep safe we said yes) - this is charged at £10 per week - the safe isn't in your room - it's a free standing locker found in the lobby of the hotel... Not exactly the most private or secure...
- all inclusive - I really wouldn't bother... We soon found on arriving a big list of exclusions to the all inclusive... And the meals...
8-10 - breakfast (hot dog sausages in a questionable red sauce, squid, baked potato skins, unknown bowls of coloured ? - bread and jam...) tea and coffee
10.30-22.00 - bar open for soft drinks, Turkish beer, Turkish vodka, Turkish wine...
12.30-14.30 - lunchtime... If you like carbs... - potatoes, rice, bread, dried or baked fish, some sort of vegetable (the most used whilst we stayed was brussel sprouts...)
19.30-21.00 - tea time.... (Much of the above included, sometimes there would be bbq'd meatballs which were awful, or a medley of weird carbs - on our first night it was chips, potatoes in sauce, rice, bread and chicken nuggets and sprouts with sweet corn...)
Now, the exclusions to all inclusive - wifi, (£10 a week per person)
- ice creams (they don't sell them even though there was a massive ice cream freezer by the pool)
- safe (as mentioned)
- any imported drinks or spirits
- entertainment (none)
Also - if your transfer picks you up later than 12 - you will be asked to pay £10 per person to have use of a room/food/drinks (including water) - we sat by the pool and waited but our transfer was 4.30pm, (not a late one like some that had 2am transfers) - particularly with children around lunchtime - families were being charged to the max to get some little bits just to feed their children...
'Sea view' - don't bother - the hotel isn't close enough to the beach for one of those, (it's about a 20 minute walk away) -not the 50 metres we were told on booking...
If you have or your family have mobility issues - no lift.
Now, all of the for mentioned doesn't spoil a holiday. We found that eating out was very affordable (the cennet apartments around the corner have a fab menu of bacon butties, burgers and breakfasts for no more than about 10tl (about £3.50). And various other restaurants and bars...
For us the worse part of out stay at the blue lagoon was the staff. On our second night we requested some blankets - we were told that they would bring us some - they didn't... On the 2nd night we arrived back at the hotel to find the receptionist and the 4 bar staff sitting at the bar drinking - we asked if we could have the blankets as requested - we we're told we would have to wait until the next day (that got pushed back to that evening) as they weren't working and weren't willing to get us any...
The attitude of staff stank,
We met plenty of lovely people on our stay and we will return to Turkey, but certainly not to the blue lagoon and the unwelcoming and money grabbing staff...

We arrived early hours which was a nightmare but got checked in pretty quick so all good. Rooms were standard but ok. Food was terrible all disgusting not much choice. I had 2 kids with me who love ice cream but that wasn't all included n over priced. On our check out date our flight wasn't till early hours next morning yet when we checked out at midday we still needed to use hotel facilities but they wouldn't even let us have a drink soft nor alcoholic which I think is disgusting. Overall it wasn't bad but they do need toake some alterations to the way they run the place

modern, clean and a good pool area. Rooms - fairly large and cleaned daily with sheets/towels also changed regularly ,airconis not included. Staff - very friendly and helpful with any issues. Location - the hotel is ideal being about 5 minutes walk from the beach.we had an all inclusive stay, the food was similar every night however that is not to say it was very satisfying and well cooked.

The Blue Lagoon was very clean & staff are helpful & friendly. Excellent location for shops / restaurants / marina ( 10 mins walk )We were on 4th floor ( roof ) in a studio apartment which would not be suitable for elderly or young families with pushchairs etc as no lifts.

Worst holiday ive had yet!!!
When we booked the holiday for 13 of us we booked to go to the lydia hotel,as we know ot was bad because of the reviews it was too late to change it anyway we had gotteb of the flight and ready to be taken, before getting on the bus a turkiish man explained that lydia club hotel was shut down so we diddnt know what to do,they referred us to a different hotel called"hotel princess" when we arived the buss went straight away without sorting anything out we asked tge desk man and explained what had happened and he told us there was no room in his hotel so even though we had kids 2 Years upwards we had to sleep on there chairs ans seats it was awfull,we had no were to go strandered in the middle of nowhere we was in a complete mess, everyone just wanted to cry and go home it was a disaster,in the morning we had to wait a axact time to see the owner and finely after 24 hours of wasting a day of our holiday, they took us to another hotel "blue lagoon" wich was alright I suppose untill I saw the food,it was rice all the time or salad,or wich something that looked like dog food, the rooms,at first we had the.top floor room and wanted to change, wich we did a couple days after,my siater in law wich had a 2 year old was also on the top floor and at that age the baby could climb so they had to move.too, they was just n more need than us:/,
Anyway most of the time we went out for dinner as my youngest girl age 12 couldnt even eat the discusting food there was itt was the same everytime,no entertainment pool okay but there rules at the side "caats must not be near pool" well.... cats were drinking the pool water wich I saw was never cleaned out, there seemed to be the same man working at the bar if you callex it that runned out of drinks for kids there juice even made the youngest sick!
honestly after the two weeks we stopped in this dump we couldnt wait to go home.. the day we was suppost to go home we was suppost to be picked up at 12 we had to get a taxi wich cost us money we diddnt want to spend on a taxi wich was suppost to ve free with the transfers we just got to the airport in time not one minuite did we spent in there straight on the flight and home, just trust me sont book this holiday bigg mastake!!!!

weeks before we arrived I emailed the hotel requesting a lower floor room as my wife has Arthritis to make sure before we arrived I phoned the hotel to be told we were on the THIRD floor as there were no ground floor available ,OK
We arrived 6 adults and I child and sure enough we were on the third floor what fun carrying the cases to the room ,the room looked ok with a rusty but functioning fridge, and the hardest beds we had ever experienced, we brought our own kettles coffee and tea so even though there was nothing in the room we were ok ,we had a Balcony which was right at the front of the hotel and the weather was lovely and hot so we thought great lets go for breakfast .
There was the usual Turkish breakfast cheese Spam boiled eggs numerous dishes of olives and cut up small sausages in a sort of Sweet and sour sauce lovely bread and when we asked for it butter ,BUT the only toaster there was a domestic 2 slice one ,we decided we would go 100 yards to the café on the corner for a full English at 7 Lira £2.10 bargain and so we ate there for breakfast every day of the holiday,(our Choice) we asked the reception man if we could change rooms and sure enough the following day we were moved to the dingiest darkest ground floor room with a view of nothing ,BUT only two beds and there was three of us ,the shower fitting was broken and hanging off but we could still use the hand set ,the next day we moved 5 paces away into our ground floor room no 108 with a balcony overlooking the pool we were happy even though the fridge was rusty the shower rail was placed alongside the toilet and the toilet was loose ,but it was ok we paid £359 for 10 nights all inclusive so we didn't expect the Ritz ,The staff from Ali the barman to and all the staff were friendly and eager to help in any way even the Elderly Ladies who cleaned the place and changed the towels and beds (they were about 70 ) and I am being respectful were great very hard working and helpful.
Lunches we never had,but I heard many guests slating the lunch menu but I cant comment on it ,The Evening Meal well it was like the breakfast all the time we were there I ate one evening meal Steak Boiled potatoes and carrots not bad but one in 10 days was not good the rest of the time we ate out the food was indeed of a quality that made me think the budget must have been very small (school Dinners was better) the chips were cold the soup well, one day I had Cabbage soup another day there was Potato soup I believe this is where the leftovers went.
The Bar ok all drinks in small plastic cups (like other places) Beer very weak Vodka Weak and Rakki if you wanted Brandy Whiskey Baileys Malibu you had to pay ,free Pepsi Fanta and Sprite ,as I said we went out every night except 1 I was watching the football and half time arrived ,I went to the bar and asked for a Pepsi and was told All inclusive finished at 10PM yes 10PM ridiculous
To sum up the blue Lagoon It was a Hotel that needed a Kiss of life it has a great location good staff but appears to be run on a shoestring
There are problems with all the rooms they all need renovating all the fitments especially showers need replacing and it is such a shame
We realised we paid a cheap price but we will not be returning there indeed we have already rebooked to Turkey for September 2014
The Cockerels start crowing at 5.30am and the dogs start barking just after what a din ,also if you have a front of hotel room the café at the end of the road have startling loud music until midnight ,and don't forget the hardest beds we have ever slept on and I mean HARD rock hard

Don't blame the staff its not their fault but someone needs to breath life into this hotel of course I forgot to mention there was NO ENTERTAINMENT AT THIS HOTEL

Room Tip: Room 108 was good overlooking the pool sun on the balcony in the afternoon
