this is not a 4 star hotel..no elevator, minimal furnishings, tv did not work in 1 of our 2 rooms. it was clean. biggest problem was that they refused to honor refund when we informed them at 7:30 am 3 days prior to our next reservation there that we needed to cancel and could not contact the booking agency til later that day as we were traveling the whole day. they claimed that the refund is up to the agency who told us that all charges & refunds go through the hotel.

The hotel is very cosy, with nicely decorated and spacious rooms, a large and modern bathroom, comfortable and large beds. Everything is very well taken care of. The hotel is close to the beach (200m) and to the city center. Hotel is both at a quiet location, but not far from bars and restaurants. There are sufficient varieties at breakfast. The manager deals with and takes care of everything. Although there's nobody at reception after 11pm and the gate to the hotel is locked after that time, the manager gives a key to the gate by which you can enter the hotel at ay time of the night, and also you feel secure inside.

Large rooms that need a bit of sound-proofing. There is extremely loud music every night until 1am at the local bars, so if you're planning to go to be before that, this is not the place for you. Most hotels in the area will share this same problem, but that's the nature of a place like Marmaris. Recent renovations definitely did not include any sound-proofing.

The hostess was very nice. She speaks virtually no english, which was a bit odd in a hotel catering mostly to British tourists.

Wifi does not work. It was advertised on as working in the rooms, but it doesn't even work in the lobby. Fortunately the hostess let me plug a 25ft cable into the router at reception to use the internet for work.

Breakfast was above average and exceeded our expectations.

At first appearances, the hotel appears welcoming and the staff are friendly. However, appearances are deceiving - for four stars, read two stars. Once you check in, the worm turns. You feel like the landlady is a character from Bill Bryson's novel "Notes on a small island". Her friendliness is superficial and she is watching everything like a hawk. If you fancy an early evening dip in the hotel pool, forget it. If you fancy a lazy day sunning yourself by the pool, forget it. There are only five or six sun loungers, three of which are taken up by her friends and the other three are broken. To add insult to injury, there is a charge to use them per day - even if you put your towel on them while taking a 5 minute swim, you will get charged for a full day! While sitting in reception, reading one evening, the landlady switched the lights off without warning and only some time later came to explain that the reception area was closed for the night. Bottom line - spend a little more time researching where you're going to spend your holiday (we wish we had!).
