Tis was our second stay at the Zeybek Hotel, well we did'nt stay. We arrive to be given a room approx 7 x 7 with 2 very small single beds and a wardrobe, We went straight back to reception to requeschange, only to be told we must wait 30mins for the Manager. When he returned he basically said "TOUGH LUCK" its this room or nothing. We said "DO YOU NOT HAVE ANOTHER ROOM" he said yes but you cannot have any of them! We explained that we had book last September and were very unhappy, but he did'nt care. The hotel is under new Ownership this year, and they just did'nt care, so NO HOTEL for us, even though we had paid 50% more this year than last year.

Room Tip: This hotel does have some good rooms overlooking the pool, but even if you book them you probably wo...

Arrived in Turunc about 23.00 after a drive over the mountain from Marmaris small village but what a surprise in the morning. On arrival we were met by a great staff who could not do enough for us and were shown to our room overlooking the sea. Usual room type in Turkey twin beds small bathroom and wc tv and chairs quiet a lot of room and a small balcony with a view to die for.
Shock to system at sunrise! The local Mosque was less than 50 meters away what a welcome after the first day we never noticed it again (When in Rome). Breakfast the usual Turkish one with lots of fruit honey cheese and boiled eggs. Fried if you asked for them too. The restaurant was under a great vine looking out to sea what a fantastic location walking out of the restaurant straight on to the beach with the hotels sun beds etc which you did not have to pay for and have your drinks etc served to you on the beach. The hotel also had a small swimming pool at the side of the restaurant and bar at the far side the staff and management could not do enough for you. We had a free evening meal with our early booking which was a bit basic but edible. All along the front and harbour were some fantastic places to eat and we would recommend Turunc and the hotel to anyone our first visit but not our last.

Room Tip: First floor sea facing .

We stayed at Zaybec for last two weeks in September and can honestly say one of our most relaxing and enjoyable holidays. Hotel was spotlessly clean with fresh linen every second day. We stayed on half board basis and was a bit disappointed with the evening meals so would definetly return on a bed and breakfast basis only. There are so many good restaurants nearby, getting a good meal is not a problem. Room and bathroom basic but very clean with constant hot water.
Turunc lovely, utterly different from Marmaris, would not suit anyone looking for nightlife and clubs. Beach does let the town down, it is a bit scrubby and the sun loungers have had their day, there does not appear to be anyone cleaning the beach, but then again it is the visitors who do not pick up after themselves, so lots of cigarette butts and bits of rubbish around.
So many good restaurants with very friendly staff, we particularly enjoyed the Mermaid and Oba 09.
We found the staff at Zaybec really nice and will definetly return next year.

Room Tip: upper sea facing room for excellent views.

Now I am the worlds fussiest traveller and this was lovely.

I will be as truthful as I can:

The highs.
Quiet, relaxing and great friendly atmosphere. The waiters are LOVELY. On arrival at 1.30am with my mother and 13 year old daughter we were shown to our room (135) which was view of the dustbins and back street,I had specifically asked via e-mail for a sea view room.so was disappointed but after asking the next day they moved us on day 2 to room 136 whcih faces the sea,had a HUGE balcony and could look down into the pool and yell at daughter is she was in there,we were right in the attic. Only downer I would say is shower is a wet room which I didnt like but sure many others will find fine, also toilet tiny lol. Room itself basic but very clean with fresh towels daily. No chest of draws a pain but we lived out of suitcases. Paid £25 for Air con remote. Slept well but did take the pillows from previous room as only had one!! You do get an early wake up call around 6am of the Mosque but you get used to it after a couple of days.

Hotel itself:

Pool is lovely with sun lougers and umbrellas and is so quiet and tranquil. lovely people on holiday had great time chatting to them and waiters...didnt venture to beach much as the cats poo'ing on the beach put me off and its so stony I didnt like it but others do and did.

There are loads of cats about, some fat some not,but they've all been neutered and there is a cat charity shop nearby which provides for them,(I fed them as well).

Hotel food is basic but expected that, plenty of restaurants to eat in though and cheap enough with most expensive thing being a steak at 30 liras (£12) so thats great,I thought. drinks in hotel are dearer a coke is 4 lira and spirit with soda 14 lira same as home really but cheaper on main streets away from sea front.

Turunc is a gorgeous place and will be going back when can return with younger children as the transfer is 3 hours drive and a little long just yet for them but whatcan i say tarunc is beautiful and the views from the mountains are amazing!!!

If you want a quiet relaxing holiday then this is for you! Any q's please do ask......

The food me and my friend had in this restaurant was horrible. The a la carte menu was there for nothing. So if you are not staying in the hotel and just went there for the restaurant, you will be surprised to see that they don't have fresh and good food! I realised that when I ordered but then I didn't want to be rude to walk away and cancel my order when I realised that it was gonna be really horrible food.

How can people cook bad and non-fresh fish and meat? This Zeybek restaurant in Turunç can.

I am ashamed to have taken my friend there for the last night of our holiday.

Stayed at Zeybek a number of times and have always enjoyed it. However this years stay was marred by two issues, beach sun loungers, and the attitude of the management team toward some guests, namely westerners, as opposed to Turkish guests.

The management team (3) just blank, totally ignore westerners, no smiles good morning, nothing, it's as if we don't exist, this exludes the waiters (2) who are friendly and appreciate a tip at the end of your stay, same goes for the two cleaning ladies who do an excellent job.

This attitude toward westerners is in sharp contrast to the smiles, good morning and friendliness shown to the Turkish guests staying at Zeybek. It's not good enough to say management lacks good English skills (I believe they know more than they let on) a Tukish good morming would be very acceptable, and lets face it, a smile is universal.

The owner of the hotel reportedly will Not allow Bacon or Pork on the premises, within this fact may lay the answer as to why the poor attitude toward westerners,

If you have back problems, beware, the sun loungers on the beach are knackered out and will surely aggrevate your back problems. The sun loungers comprise a rigid plastic frame, with a polyproperlene top stetched over the frame and laced underneath. Four years ago they were fine, now either end of the poly top just sags over a central support bar that will dig into your back, there is no proper support whatsover

If you arrive without back problems there is a very good chance you will go home with some, 90% of all sun loungers on the beach are the same, but all rigid plastic sun loungers can be found at some establishments along the beach.

The hotel itself is fine, basic but clean with excellent maid service and friendly waiters

If the hotel management has issues regarding westerners they should perhaps Not advertise in western countries, avdertising instead in Turkey and like minded countries.

This review is difficult because we had a great time at the Zeybek and really enjoyed Turunc but the hotel is fairly basic, the rooms are small and the breakfasts are a bit monotonous - bread, cheese, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, sliced meat, boiled eggs, tea and coffee.

The big plus for the hotel is its postion right next to the beach. The sea facing rooms have small balconies with wonderful views out to sea and across to the harbour or along the beach. They also get morning sun so it's quite pleasant to sit on them in the evening. The rooms were clean with frequent changes of towels and bed linen. A fridge would have been great but the rooms aren't big enough to take one. The television was handy to keep up with things.

We all want to pay Travelodge prices but get Ritz service levels. Well, the pricing for this hotel is quite good but there sure aren't Ritzy service levels. We found that we had to have aircon and that was an extra £30 per week. That's fine until we found that others had paid different amounts and all of them less!

The hotel is convenient for all the lovely restaurants in Turunc but the Zeybek restaurant was only open from 7.30pm until 9pm and was the quietest along the seafront. They don't seem to try very hard with that part of the business.

If you want a prestige hotel and a room with luxury features, look elsewhere (and pay more!) but if you're happy with the sentiment that you don't spend too much time in the hotel room but want clean, basic accommodation in a great position, the Zeybek could be a good choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a first/second floor sea facing room
