“Fantastic Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2011

My partner and I stayed here for 12 nights and have had an amazing holiday. It was our 1st time to turkey and we couldn't have picked a better hotel. The staff at the hotel are brilliant, always very helpful and friendly. Special thanks go to Melda and of course Oktay - say what!!!!who made our holiday the fantastic experience it was. The hotels location is ideal very close to the beach and the wonderful restaurants, where we ate some lovely food, special mention goes out to Serkul 1 and Calis Beach restaurant where we had some lovely nights with great food and great staff. We went on a 12 island boat trip which was a lovely day out, with lunch included and we also went into fethiye for a turkish bath, which is a must for anyone, quite an experience. This is more a resort for those of you wanting a relaxing holiday, but you only have to walk along the front for 10 minutes to find a few livelier bars if that is what you are looking for. All in all a fantastic holiday, the only downside was having to come home. Oktay, who looks after the pool bar definitely made our holiday the experience it was, a very lovely man who keeps you smiling from dawn until dusk.We will definitely be returning next year and hopefully for some years to come.

Nice location on Calis Plaji. I'm not going to complain about the buffet. I usually ate the starters, which was good enough for me. I will complain about the sullen staff waiting on the tables. A smile once in a while would've been nice.
Roomy and clean. Could use some art work on the walls to relieve the dormitory feel. Nice pool. One friendly person at the front desk. I don't know her name, but she had long dark hair and spoke good English. We really enjoyed Fethiye and would've liked to have stayed longer than 5 days. We only spent 1 day at the beach there because we did so many outings. Lots of British vacationing there, so lots of 'English' food to be found.
We got there on a Saturday and there was a tattoo convention all weekend across the street. Very loud, terrible death metal going on all Saturday, but music more mellow on the next day. Earplugs helped, but if people are noisy in the hallway, you can definitely hear it. My friend was woken up, by an inconsiderate person pounding on the next door, so loudly that we thought he was banging on ours. Hopefully, will be back and would consider staying at Seketur again, but probably not half board since there seems to be so many nice places to eat along the beach and in town.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview.

The rooms are basic but clean. Some of the linen is a bit shabby but again is clean. Breakfast is the usual cold meats and cheese with cereal and fruit which was perfectly ok.
We went on a bed and breakfast basis and having seen one of the half board meals I would not recommend doing more than that.
The pool is lovely with a superb location. Bar prices are a bit more expensive than in the bars but if you only drink beer then it is about 10p more. The staff are friendly, but look out for spray time if you are sunbathing around the pool!
This hotel has everything you want as long as you don't want a posh bedroom or a Spa and Gym.
Only downside was that the air conditioning was a bit hit and miss. Some rooms were ok but ours just blew like a fan and did not cool the room but other than that it was a great holiday.

This rating is a bit harsh and is more a reponse to the general area than the hotel.

This is a classic package holiday hotel. It is amazingly cheap for what you get. We went the half board option for 4 and it was 84 euro. The food was OK although on the first nifgt the only meat was kidney! Unfortunately on the last morning we had to get a ferry and leave by 8am. We tried to get breakfast at 10 minutes to 8am and they would not let us because it would create a precedent!

The rooms were small but the kids had a seperate sleeping area to us and airconditioning worked well. The bathroom looked new. We had a view of the pebble beach.

Although the sunsets were nice I did not like the area. It is what it is- a place for predominately English to escape the cold. I am not sure it had much to do with the real Turkey. The beach was ordinary and the water was not clear.

There is a nice boat trip into the town.

We went late june to early July with Jewel in the Crown Holiday who are Fantasic. For some time now we have said that it need a upgrade, Well one half is now done and very nice it is to. The other half is due to be done this winter. They have a new Manager Melba She is very nice and very customer focused. Most of the room's have a sea view and what a view, the sunset in Calis just has to be seen. The Fantastic Oktay is still behind the pool bar and I must say that the Sim bar has become a lot more in line price wise to the other bar's and the music has been turned down and stops around 12ish with some act's on this year. If you want a nice relaxing holiday this is the place if you want a banging party this is not the place. Most of the bar's do fantasic food and a good range the Sunset being our favored one if you want to push the boat out go to the Sat Club very nice . For trips the best we found was Hamish McTurk just outside the hotel the diving was fantastic. Calis is not for parties of young lad's/girls it's more for couples. Top tip go to the istanbul silver Market in Fethyie bought my wife a new diamond for her engagment ring cost £350 got home had it valued at £850 plus some real nice gear.

Room Tip: ask for the new room's with sea view

On arrival, after a swift transfer from Jewel in the Crown, we arrived at the hotel reception where staff members were already waiting to take us to our room.

I had previously e-mailed the hotel to request a sea view. After we were taken to our room by a porter we found we did get this & we were very happy.

Room - The room was in the newly refurbished block and we were on the 2nd floor, room 203. We had two single beds, bedside table, wardrobe, dressing table, big mirror & TV. On enquiry at the reception the next morning we found that the air con was free. Again, this was fantastic as you do normally have to pay, plus it was nearly 50 degree's a day so you DEFINTLEY needed it. The bathroom was clean and was also brand new, corner shower, toilet & sink, plus a hairdryer and shaver point. Our room was cleaned daily & towels/sheets changed about three times a week. It was perfect & everyday we came back to towel art on the bed. Alot of credit should go to the cleaners. My only slight critisism is that you can hear alot that is going on the corridor/hallway. This was due to the fact that the family next door kept banging the doors/knocking on the doors/crying/having a domestic in the hallway so I think we just were unlucky with that. Also a warning the foreign families did like to rearrange the bedroom furniture about twice a day aswell?! This is not the hotels fault just some inconsiderate travellers.

Hotel Facilities/Amentities - The hotel has a brilliant clean pool with plenty of Sunbeds. Oktay(Are you sure?!), the pool bar manager was very attentitive and was always on hand when you needed a cool drink & also a ''spray''. Look after him & he will look after you.
The hotel also has free wifi if you REALLY want to use it. We didn't as we did not have smart phones or laptop, however this is not what we look for when we holiday.

Food/Drink - At the hotel there is the restaraunt where we took our breakfast and evening meals. It is very reasonable to add half board to your holiday, however alot of people complained about the food but we always found it plentiful ie. pastas/salads/cous cous etc & the chef was very kind, although he spoke little english he was a very good laugh. It is true, there is only one main course, some nights the food was lovely, however one night they served Liver, much to our dissapointment. The local dogs/cats got a good meal that night! Most night desert was backalava (yum!) and melon.
Breakfasts again were continental and simple. Hams, cheeses, salad, toast, jams, honey, boiled eggs etc. Plenty to go around!
The Sim Bar was brilliant and a special thanks go to, Peri, Hassan, Sanchez & Hamza who run a tight ship and also make a very mean cocktail! Prices reasonable, slightly more expensive than other bars but better standard of drinks. We met some lovely people by the bar which made our stay really enjoyable. Everyone moans on here about the music being too loud and late. Even when we had ''earlyish'' nights the music rarely went on past half midnight. The case is though, that when the last person leaves they close. But the music is turned down if it is requested.

Local area/info - The beach was directly opposit the hotel, we rarely spent time there as it was shingle and shelved very quickly into the sea. Also for two sunbeds and an umberella it cost 15 lira a day.
Plenty of bars/restaraunts are in the area along the promenade and also across the bridge in Calis. Very reasonable and good quality food. Serkul 1 & Rose were our favourite restaraunts.
For those who are looking for a lively night there are quite a few lively bars and clubs that are open till the early hours. We were taken by our wonderful Sim Bar hosts and we didnt get back till 6am in the morning. So for those who say it is mainly for elderly people are very wrong!!! Although naturally with this resort being very flat you will find a mature client however we saw plenty of couples/groups/families at the resort. It was a lot busier than we were expecting but it was nice.
You can take local dolmuses to places like Fethiye, Hisaronu, Ovacik, Olu Deniz for a few lira, but we opted to take the water taxi to Fethiye. We had a look round and found the heat too much. The people there, are much pushier than in Calis & we just did not want to be bothered in the hot heat. Having been to Turkey before we did know to expect this.

Overall - This holiday was a real bargain & we thoroughly enjoyed it and would have no hesitation in staying at the Seketur hotel again. We really do miss it already!

Back again at Seketur this year discovering why we have missed this nice Hotel and the entire team of very friendly and very service minded people who's honest intention is to give you a really good time while at Seketur Hotel, and what a pleasure it is. (we may have a concern writing how great this place is - if many others find their way to this Heaven, Seketur may be overbooked next year, but maybe Melda still can find a room for us 'regulars').
This year it was nice to see the rooms in the adjoining building to the reception have been completely redecorated with Aysha's excellent supervision. Everything looks so nice - Tamom Ayşha, teşekkür ederim.
Dear Melda, thank you for being a wonderful hostess offering your services even before we get a chance to ask. The house cleaning team leaves us with so pleasant rooms and beautiful decorations on the bed with beautiful flowers and swans made of the towels. Oktay Bey - you're the Man, the best Pool Manager and Pool Bartender we have ever met and ever will meet. Your always in good mood and with a smile and joke.
Unforgettable is Perri's beautiful Garden with lovely music and your team of joyful Bartenders & Waiters. You make the evenings/nights never ending. Perri I'm impressed by the great collection of good music, always a pleasure to listen to.
Finally we have to express our outmost thanks to the Chef and his team at the wonderful Seaside restaurant, you have developed our taste for Turkish meal more than we could have dreamed of. We are impressed over your creative and very well tasted display of exiting dishes. On top of that you always have time for a smile and a talk with us and your team of Waiters are always up for a good laugh.
Thank you all at Seketur Hotel, it is a long time having to wait a whole year before coming back again, but it is worth the wait for sure. All the best from Marianne and Soren, looking forward to seeing you all again.
