“Worth a look.”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

You can see the Lycian rock tombs (and ruined castle) from the town of Fethiye, but it is worth a small climb up the roads to get a closer look.

Going from standing on the road right in front of them, up to the main one for a detailed looksee, will cost 5TL, but if you don't want to, or can't be bothered, the cafe there is lovely, and the guys who look after it all, very friendly.

“Pretty cool up close view, not as intact as Dalyan's”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

If you want to see Lycian ruins up close, the ruins here in Fethiye are for you. Not far from the main road along the southern hills of the city near the coast, you'll see the ruins. You can drive to the top of the hill area and try to find parking or just before you get to a steep stretch of the road you'll see a small parking lot on the right. You can take pictures from the road or hike up to them. There's been a lot of erosion and a bit of vandalism, but interesting and unique thing to see.

To see more intact ruins, go north to Dalyan. You won't get as close, but they are gorgeous and have far less erosion.

“Enjoy the view”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We think that Turkey has several of these rock tombs (Dalyan's are great) but it's the view looking back from the tombs over Fethiye and the bay and the mountains rising out from the sea that make this hike spectacular.

“THE TOMBS”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

visited these on a couple of occasions over the years by making our own way to them on a hired scooter as they are to the rear of a small vllage area just outside the centre of Fethiye. The tombs are worth a visit and when you realise the enormity of the task involved to carve these out of the rock it is quite awe inspiring especially in the times they were done
