“Great place”

We actually did not stay in the hotel so I am not able to comment on the rooms (however our family did and we spent most days there). We were made to feel totally welcome by all and found this hotel provided a friendly atmosphere for our holiday.

The hotel is located in town but you do not hear any noise from the restaurants and bars.

The staff at the hotel worked not stop to ensure that everyone had a great time and each day was fun. The staff worked constantly to ensure the pool area was kept clean and safe.

The food and drink here was very reasonably priced and was nice. We also stayed for a couple of evening events including the weekly BBQ which was great.

Thank you to Jimmy, Sal, John, Mehmet, Ozzie and all other staff for a great time.

There are some really bad reviews about this hotel. so in my view lets get it right, THIS IS 2 STAR if you want 5 STAR get your wallet out and go some where else. Yes the rooms could do with a lick of paint and some new bits and bobs. But for a cheap holiday its fine. The staff SAL,JIMM, and Memmit (Kettle) work very hard to make your holiday ,nothing is to much trouble. So hey lads a big Thanks from Degsey, Donna and Jodie. The maids clean your room change the bedding fresh towels every other day or every day if you ask. Location is great 2 min walk to the strip. some great people there WIn and Rollo, Carol and Billy and many more loverly people.Ail in All, A good holiday for what we paid. so if You write a review on this hotel Judge it on what it is 2 STAR....

Lovely cheap and cheerful hotel
A very short walk to the main high street
But far enough to not have all the noise keeping you awake if your in bed early.

Great service to the beach, bus came every morning at 10am to take us to the lagoon part of the beach. And we used to walk back mid afternoon and catch a dolmus.
Lovely pool at the hotel. Big and clean!!!
Staff were ok. Were more interested about messing about, rather than the service side of things. But I guess it depends what you want...
Rooms were lovely and clean. Quite small. But plenty of space for sleeping and showering.

Lovely restaurant at the hotel. But like I said service isn't amazing.

Before we travelled to the Carmina we were extremely worried - having been keeping a close eye on the reviews we considered cancelling, some of the reviews were truly awful. However, the extortionate price of changing to different accomodation meant we just crossed our fingers and hoped for the best. Firstly, let me point out that if we had paid 'Thomas Cook' or 'Manos' prices, yes we would have been very disappointed at the level of accomodation. However, we got an excellent deal with 'Holidays4u' and we got what we paid for - a basic (but spotlessly clean - thank you Beehan!) apartment on the first floor. The kitchen consisted of a fridge, a 2 ring hotplate and a kettle - yes, not quite enough cutlery and the crockery didn't match but so what? for keeping drinks cold, making coffees and the old omlette or bowl of soup, it was absolutely fine. The bar snacks were so reasonable it wasn't worth shoppping for anything else. The local 'Azda' (yes. I have spelt it correctly!) is a 5 minute walk away and it's worth purchasing an 'Azda' card (1 lira) to get discounts on many items.
The guys around the pool were young and fun and great with the children, they did joke around but nothing over the top (they only pushed you in the pool if you were already wet!). We never had a problem getting sunbeds - and there were seven of us. The guy in charge (Mehmet) was a little older and kept everything running smoothly - he was very helpful with local information too. We tried the set menus at the Carmina several times - they were good value. The chef is no Jamie Oliver but 3 courses for less than £8 - you couldn't go far wrong. We would recommend the Piano bar or the Suntrap for traditional Turkish, or the Shanghai Blues above Azda for Chinese (try the set menu for 18 lira). Cheers was good for a set lunch (£2.50 for a meal and drink).
The Carmina runs a free bus service to Billys beach, very shallow and no waves. We preferred to get the Dolmus or a taxi (if there are 6 of you it works out the same) to the main beach at Olu Deniz - great waves and very clear, deep water. You can pay to go to the lagoon side which is shallower but it gets very crowded with young children.
If I had to make a complaint about the Carmina it would be the noise from the bar on some nights. We found that they played to their audience - if we were there the music was gentler and turned off at midnight. If however, the bar was full of those who liked loud music, it was kept very loud until very late, fine for my husband and I who slept on the opposite side from the bar but our daughter's bed was on the side of the pool and bar and she was kept awake until we purchased some earplugs! The 'call to prayer' from the Mosque happens at 5am and wakes everyone anyway.
In conclusion I would say the Carmina is good value for money (depending of course on who you booked with!), conveniently located, it provides everything you need for a beach holiday and the staff were never less than helpful.
If we could offer anyone going a little tip - learn a few words in Turkish, 'Hello' is 'Mer-ha-ba' and 'Good morning' is 'Gun-ay-din'. The Turkish loved the fact that we made the effort and we found that this was repaid in extra attention, discounts, free garlic bread and so on.
I would recommend this hotel for a budget holiday.

On arrival first impressions were that it was a bit shabby, however at the price paid we did not expect 5*
What we did expect however was clean and functional rooms and a safe enviroment for our teenage daughter and her friend(both 15 years old.)
What we got however was 2 rooms in what could only be described as the basement both of which smelled strongly of damp and on further inspection had damp mould all over the lower walls. To totally compound this by the time bedtime arrived the bed sheets were wet with damp and very uncomfortable, the furniture sparse and some broken.
The view from the tiny balcony was straight at a brick wall and the smell of sewage so strong as to make the balcony unusable on many occasions.
The food was disgusting and badly cooked and the breakfast devoid of variety and covered in flies.
As if this was not bad enough it soon became clear that 15yr old girls were fair game for the extremely predetory bar and pool staff, even to the extent of finding out their room number and after we had gone to bed phoning them and asking them to go out with them down to town.Had they not been sensible and refused then i dread to think what would have happened.
We could not tolerate staying at this hotel and got a move out after 4 truly appalling nights.
Put simply if you like even basic cleanliness and comfort,or more importantly have teenage daughters then this hotel should be avoided at all costs.
TRULY THE MOST APPALLING AND DISGUSTING HOTEL IN THE AREA AND PROBABLY THE WHOLE OF TURKEY

The hotel rooms were very basic and on arrival I was a bit dissapointed. We were placed on the second floor but requested ground floor. The staff were extremely helpful and moved us to a more suitable room on the ground floor. The food was excellent and all the staff were friendly and accomodating. They were excellent with the children and did their upmost to ensure that we they were entertained. Most of the staff waited for our bus to collect us on the last night which was supposed to be at 1.30am but did not arrive until 2.30am. They all waited with us and wished us well on our journey. I would go back to this hotel because of the friendly atmosphere and the good food!
