Shambala; Definitely one of the most beautiful spots in the world!!!

I am quite well travelled and stayed and lived in so many resorts over the years due to the nature of my job, so when I say that the Shambala is one of the most beautiful places in the world, I speak from the heart and with plenty of experience. Everything about the Shambala and a stay there is beyond one's best expectations: From excellent food, beautifully designed rooms, to the most wonderful people you will ever meet ...and then to top it all, the fantastic view!! Warmest Regards and the biggest thank you to the owners Emine and Hulki and Yuri the manager!

This was the best part of our vacation in Turkey simply because of the location of the hotel, the view and the nature that surrounds you. The prices for drinks are expensive but you are in the middle of no where and the liquor in Turkey is expensive no matter where you are. Other than that the service was excellent and the open buffet breakfast and dinner was amazing, it offsets the price of the liquor by far.

You are in another world when you come to Shambala and we will be back.

The style of the houses are very artistic and beautıful. the interior design is very colourful and nothing like in other places i have ever seen before. It looks and is a very comfortable place to stay in.

I think the rooms are very clean and full of artistic details. Strongly recomend this place to everyone.

We stayed at the Shambala based on positive reviews from friends, the NY times, and the Lonely Planet guide. Yes, the setting is spectacular and food good, however, the room was not clean. Our room reeked of mothballs and had dirty sheets and dirty pillows. We slept with our clothes and hats on to avoid contact with the bed linens. We were in one of the R series rooms and it cost 90 TL per person including dinner and breakfast.

Staff was solid and helpful.

This is a spectacular setting in a great location that provides easy access to hiking and swimming, however, the dirty room was a big turn off. We'd opt for a different place in the valley if we return.

Thank you for sharing your experience, but this is the first time we have got a complain about the dirtiness of the rooms. We really felt very embarrassed and we investigated immediately this situation and found out that this unpleasant case was caused by an oversight of the cleaning staff. As we have a

about our taste of our dishes, we pay the same attention for the cleanliness of our bungalows.

We apologize for the inattention of our cleaning staff.

Best Regards..

This place has an incredible position overlooking the sea, mountains and the beach. It's one of the best locations for accommodation that I've ever seen. Having read the other reviews we brought lots of water with us and we didn't have too many of the TL8 cans of beer. As it's still April we only paid TL70 each which included a fantastic dinner and breakfast. This was great value but the prices do shoot up from May onwards. The rooms are very basic but are fine. Be very careful if you try to take your rental car down the access road as you might not be able to get it back up again! Some of the other places in the village seem to have similar views and are much cheaper, but at April prices this place is fantastic.

My fiance and I stayed here for one night in April 2011 and we had a wondeful, relaxing time in this peaceful spot. We would definitely come back.

We drove our hire car halfway down the dirt track from the main road, and then walked the rest of the way to Shambala (we would never have got the car back up again!) This only took about ten minutes. As it was out of season, the pool had not been cleaned, the yoga teacher/masseur was away, some work was being done to the paving, and there was a quite loud, continuous drilling noise on the hill behind Shambala, so we didn't see it at its best. However this also mean that the prices were much cheaper than in high season; staying in one of the nicer cabins was 70 lira each, including breakfast and dinner. Initially I thought this was expensive but in fact it worked out to be very good value overall.

Dinner and breakfast (vegetarian) were absoloutely delicious, using fresh seasonal ingredients. Dinner was not typically Turkish and while I love Turkish food this made a welcome change. We brought our own water so the only extra charge was for beers; these were quite expensive but perfectly chilled. Our cabin had an amazing terrace with a stunning view over the sea, and was very comfortable although the shower wasn't particularly warm in the morning. In the height of summer this wouldn't matter much. There's a flexible range of accommodation available for different budgets, all situated at various points down the hillside, and all characterful. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed. The setting is lovely and only a five minute walk down to a small, quiet beach which is quite pebbly rather than sandy, but secluded.

Shambala is a great change from the usual kind of accommodation available and is a complete break in itself. Get here early, relax, and enjoy yourself!

Room Tip: We stayed in 'R3'.

We were travelling around a lot with friends and we heard something about some nice place near Fethiye...and we found it in internet...
as we arrived (by hitch-hiking) it was already dark and we couldn't see anything...but as the morning came...the wiev from our bangalow was amazing...we wanted to stay there (unfortunately we had school in two days)...the food is soooooo delicious. I usually don't like turkish food, but this one...i can't describe it...
we found many friends from Shambala, the workers are so friendly and helpful and the speak english! Boat trip in the night was amazing aswell =o)
It is a very nice hippie place. It is a bit far away from everything, but this is positive, couse only those who are really interested in this place, go there. And it costs only 5 YTL (~2,5 euros) from Fethiye to Shambala crossroad, from there it is only 15-20 minutes walk downhill.
I will never regret visiting it.
Actually, I took one another friend there with me next time, to show the place and he was amazed from it, too.
I can never say anything bad about this place!
I really advise this place for everyone that loves nature and wants to get away from the crowded cities. And Butterfly valley is not far away from it =o)
I am sure, I will visit this place again!
See you there!
