Clock Tower is located the district called 'Konak'. A historical cloak works since its firs erection in 1901. It was a gift to Ottoman Sutan Abdulhamit II from German Emperor Wilhelm II.

It is 25 meters high and constructed in a plaza. In the past the plaza was larger.. Over time several buildings like municipality was built to squeeze the tower a bit. Also, the monument erected for the journalist Hasan Tahsin, who was the first to open fire on the enemy soldiers that landed in İzmir on May 15, 1919,

Today, there is a ferry terminal nearby to go to all corners of Izmir Bay. The tram, crossing Izmir stops there as well. Also, famous Kemeralti (Bazaar) starts from there.
It is a must to see.

They say pictures can be deceiving and this is true to this attraction. It is a very small town area and clock tower and basically it’s not worth the time.

Saat Kulesi is one of the first things you think of when you think of Izmir. Situated in Konak Square this Ottoman era tower houses a clock which was a gift from the German emperor to the then Ottoman ruler Abdul Hamid II.

It is ornate and in typical late Ottoman style and it is a focal point in Konak. I have many memories of this tower from my youth as a child right through visits to Izmir as an adult. I always make the time to visit it.
