Sheraton Cesme Hotel Resort & Spa
Ranked #28 of 137 Hotels in Cesme
Reviewed September 2, 2013

The Cesme region is the place to be at the Turkish Aegean and the Sheraton is long established there. The beach is amazing, very bright and soft sand, turqouise water, nice temparature and a great little pier with bar and deck chairs. Also the SPA is one of the best ones inTurkey. The copacobana outdoor restaurant has a very nice setting on top of a pool.

Unfortunately there are also considerable downsides:
- the rooms are very aged and need renovation (esp. baths and carpets)
- the rooms are not really clean
- the food gets boring very fast and has by now means 5-star level
- no a la carte restaurant for the evenings
- service at the restaurants and at the beach needs dramatic improvement
- kids club is lacking real passion

alltogether you can still have a nice vacation there and esp. in the summer the beach compensates a lot. Apparently a renovation is due in 2015, after that and with a bit more passion by the management this has the potential to be great spot.

Room Tip: take a room with sea view ideally on the wing with evening sun (better view) the suites a really sp...

I am 42 and from Izmir, and I did not have any summer without at least one Cesme visit all my life, so location (Cesme) for me is the best in the world - I cannot say I am hundred percent objective about that. Sheraton is probably the best resort hotel in Cesme with the comfort of an international chain. There are a lot of so called boutique hotels around, but Sheraton has the best beach and is close to Ilica, one of the nicest and quitest neigbourhoods in the Cesme Peninsula.

I recommend you to stay in a room with a sea view and a balcony, and even in your room you can feel the summer. We have never closed the balcony door during all our stay, and never needed the air conditioner because of famous see breezes in Cesme. The rooms are a bit old, but in very good condition.

Food is really good in the hotel, even the dinner buffet. The only problem about that, you have to pay for half board, as there is not an option to stay only with breakfast included. It is a shame, because Cesme is very famous with its seafood restaurants, and we have only used the hotel restaurant for dinner once, although we have paid for it.

Spa is really exceptional, all the advertisment in the hotel website is true. The cost is high, but I think this should be expected based on the quality.

If you like your vacation quiet, do not go there when the schools are off, or just after Ramadan as we did. all families who did not prefer their vacation earlier were there and the kids were running and screaming like a force of the nature. We did not have too much quite time on the beach or in the restaurants. If you can, go there just before or after the season, so you can enjoy the hotel and Cesme much better.

We stayed in July and returned later in August to visit Sheraton Cesme. The hotel is well managed, good facilities, e.g. the SPA - one of the best, fitness room - decent equipment, rooms with flat screen tv. It also has a quite nice pool with areas for shade (if needed) under a cave-like structure. The pool does not seem to be much used, it seems people prefer the beach. The beach is one of the best @ Cesme with a blue flag.

The breakfasts are very well organized with lots of choice. The dinner: the salads and desserts are quite good. The main courses are not bad, but the taste is severely impacted because many courses do not perserve their heat, so they end up somewhat lukewarm or cold on your plate. I personally don't like it when the food is not warm enough.

To end, they have very well managed staff that provide good service.

A few attention points-
1/ the in-room wifi is crap. they have even an IT manager specifically for this, apparently he can use some advise in setting this up...
never upgrade to their so-called 'high-speed' internet for which you have to pay extra. It simply is not faster, maybe even slower. They do not quantify 'high-speed', but in my expecation I expect a broadband connection when someone uses this term.
2/ the swimming pool is 1.53 meters, may not be safe for children at all times. The pool does not seem to have a lifeguard... They do have one at the beach, but not at the pool. So be aware of this.
3/ although the hotel is based on a half-pension concept, which is sufficient, be aware of certain things that may cost extra (that is sometimes otherwise free in other luxury hotels): fresh orange juice requires additional costs, the tea time is a rip-off for the price you pay
4/ worn down/old airconditioning system. sometimes it does not seem to provide sufficient cold, and sometimes it does. I could not fully grasp this system...
5/ bath room still uses curtains. In my view this is not up-to-standard anymore, as it is not hygienic.

Room Tip: For lunch go outside and eat at Dost Pizza (instead of paying 35TL for doner @ Sheraton). Quite crow...

If you have a small child, it is great. There is a day-care, a Mini Disco at night and an arcade. Rooms are very clean and the food is great. But the rooms are tiny, the sea is very dirty and most importantly it is very, very expensive. If you are able to spend a lot of money, then you could get a suite and rent a car to go to different beaches every day. But if you want a reasonable priced holiday and if you don't have a small kid (I'm not saying cheap because that's not possible in Cesme) don't stay at Sheraton Cesme.

The hotel and surroundings are absolutely gorgeous and have amazing potential but the clientele and their offspring are intolerable. İ have never seen so many uncivilised people, void of any basic manners in one place. The pool and dinner areas are packed with out of control screaming children! The pool area is especially outrageous with children jumping in non-stop, screaming, crying, and to top it there are many taking private swimming lessons! This is supposed to be a place to relax and chill, if this is what you have in mind you are in for a shock. Definitely not a couples hotel!! The food is great, fresh and plentiful, drinks which you must pay for at meal times are outrageously expensive, the spa so-so, the beach crystal clear but very wavy, service poor ... overall of 5 star quality? Not even close ... Would İ come here again? Absolutely not, never again!
