“Great hotel”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Right in the middle of Cesme, one street away from the port, this hotel may be a little expensive but is really beautifull, It was, in it’s prime, a place where travellers stopped to rest their animals and themselves. There were stables and stores. In this hotel, pictures are on the walls taking us back to those days. The rooms are around the central place where the pool is but on the second story. Around the pool are tables and lounging chairs. This is a very comfortable hotel. It is right beside the castle that protected the port.

Room Tip: There are rooms with a view only on the pool area. Try and get a room with a view on the port.

This review might be slightly skewed because we were there off-season and got a great deal. But the history of this place and the location--right near the harbor and next to the castle--was wonderful. There is a pool, but no one went in it (it's just very public, right in the middle as you walk in), and there aren't a ton of amenities. But that should be expected, as it's a renovated caravansary--a 250-year-old inn. The decor is a sort of minimal modern that fits the old building very well. The staff were friendly and helpful when asked, but this is not a 5-star hotel service, or spectacular breakfast buffet or amenities, but then it also wasn't priced that way. It's priced for the area as a 3-star. And this was a wonderful place to lay our heads. We rented a scooter and took it all over the island--using it to visit the white sand beaches in the area, and walked down the harbor to hop a ferry to Chios. (The hotel is not walking distance to any decent beaches, but is right in a great little town. If beaches are your thing, you will take a bus, scooter, or car.) But with those caveats, I would highly recommend this place. I'd stay there again.

Im not sure what the previous reviewers were expecting from this hotel. Firstly cesme is a functioning busy Turkish town and this hotel is smack bang in the town centre so there is no beach and it is not a resort and the pool is more ornamental than something to really swim in. Imagine a 3 star city hotel and this is what to expect as far as services and facilities. The actual building is as you see in the photo's and really is an extraordinary place to stay. The rooms are a little on the small side but well equipped and perfectly adequate and quite frankly after reading the reviews on here a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was a Turkish breakfast, fresh and healthy and exactly the same fayre as all the restaurants around were serving, don't expect a full English. We were the only Brits in the hotel the week we stayed here so why would they build the buffet breakfast for us?! The staff were all really friendly and helpful if you needed anything. No they didn't speak flawless English but enough to get by and more than most in cesme. So it's not a resort, there's not really a pool and the rooms are on the small side...so why stay here and why is it not cheap??? Location, location, location!!! A beautiful building in the shadow of the castle right opposite the brand new marina development with its restaurants, bars and upmarket shops, right next to the bus stop to get to altinkum beach (golden beach - which is better than any beach we found in Koh Samui , Thailand and the main reason we came to cesme this time around.) 2 minutes to the promenade around the harbour, 2 minutes to the cobbled high street packed with culture, shops, restaurants, bakeries, bars, etc.

The one real negative for us was Saturday night where the hotel was hosting a wedding and hadn't warned us there would be unbearably loud music booming through the walls of our hotel room until midnight, however, most nights you would probably be out until midnight so they were reasonable in turning the music off at midnight and also when approached the guy on reception just looked at us and put his fingers in his ears suggesting he wasn't over the moon about it himself, so we just went out for a walk

In conclusion if you want to combine a city break with a beach holiday with unlimited things to do day or night in 'the prime position in cesme' a lovely, real, Turkish spa town and don't need children's clubs, animation teams and full English breakfasts I urge you to stay in this hotel.

all in all we had a fantastic holiday

Room Tip: We had the cheapest room and it is cheap if you want slightly better rooms the price jumps up a lot...

Where do start?!
The pool was more ornimental than useable. There were only two sunlounges ,which made us believe that it was not used as a swimming and sun area.We chose this hotel because it had a pool but we were very dissapointed. The hotel staff stared at you if you were sat beside the pool.
Breakfast was average , the head waiter was very rude and unhelpful .If you asked him for anything he grunted or answered back.
There was a lift ,which seemed to be not very solid and shook in the wind. The steps upto the rooms were far to deep for anybody above 50 years of age to use.The noise from underneath our room and from around the hotel was unbelievable ,which we did not get much sleep .All in all,it turned out to be a very bad and expensive experience.
The internet connection only works by the pool and the connection was very poor.Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Not a family friendly hotel.

Room Tip: If you are planning on staying at this hotel,I would choose a room facing the castle. So as you walk...

This hotel could easily have gotten a one star from us, but a combination of the following factors saved it:

a) We found the air con, as we were going downstairs to ask for a fan. Actually, we found the remote, and pointed it around the room until a picture slid forward off the wall, and that was the aircon. Brilliantly disguised, sure, but the couple in the room next to us didn't find it at all in three days.

b) While the hotel is quiet an peaceful during the day, there is live music on the roof until at least midnight. We had ear plugs, if we hadn't, no sleep - it was really loud in the rooms. Without earplugs, you will not sleep before midnight.

Rooms are nice enough, a bit small as others have said, but adequate. Food at the restaurant upstairs is good.

Very small rooms and unacceptable service. And at this price??? I stayed for this price at better hotels in Monaco. Cesme becomes more expensive every year, as people think trying to become part of EU is adjusting the prices sky high so that the Turkish coast becomes more expensive than Spain, Greece and Italy. This is a ridiculous. This was a booking I have done to make a surprise to my parents. It turned out to be an embarrassment.
