Hera Boutique Hotel
Ranked #1 of 15 Bergama B&B and Inns

This is a great place to stay in Bergama.

Probably the best thing about the hotel were the owners. Once we were settled in they spent quite a while outlining the best attractions in town, how to get there, good areas to eat at different times of the day and how to experience a little bit of Turkish life. While we were there they were very helpful with any questions.

Well located in the old town and walking distance to the major attractions.

The hotel itself is interesting and the owners showed us around and gave us a little bit of the history of the place.

What a gem of a boutique hotel! It was perfect for our group of 5 friends from Canada.
The wine cellar was a nice touch in this renovated house from the former Greek Old Town. The owners are very welcoming and sociable and we enjoyed their conversation while sipping Turkish wines - which are very good. The rooms are very well appointed, quiet and comfortable with great shower pressure. The breakfast is extensive to say the least!
This is a great location to use as a base or a stop over while visiting the impressive ruins on the hill.

Room Tip: The Poseidon and Hera rooms are alone together on the upper floor of the main building with a beauti...

I regret that we only had one night to spend at the Hotel Hera. It is a beautiful restoration of two old stones houses into a small charming hotel with courtyard and terrace providing wonderful views. The owners could not have been more welcoming and gracious. The hotel is well located for walking to the town center and for exploring Pergamon.

We had visited Bergama before but Hera Boutique Hotel really had an added value for us, especially the beautifuly renovated Greek house and the conversations with the owners Iskender and Mevhibe (+ Mevhibe's 2 sisters and cousin, this really feels like home!) about life in Turkey, their childhood in Bergama and experiences with tourists and archaeologists.
We had the Zeus room which was clean and spacious, same for the bathroom. Breakfast on the terrace was a great experience, with plenty of fresh Turkish products, we especially enjoyed the warm simit from the nearby bakery and the farm butter and eggs.
Don't hesitate to ask the owners where you should eat, you will not regret it!
We came by car and found the hotel quite easily from the town centre (follow the boards very carefully!) but for the rest of our stay we used our feet, the hotel being 5' from the centre over the small bridge and 10' walk to the cable car to the acropolis.
Unfortunately we forgot to visit the wine cellar, we reserve this for our next visit to Bergama and hera Hotel!

This hotel was wonderful, clean, and friendly owners. The sister of the owner walked us down to the gondola going up to Pergamon. They showed us on a map but it would have been difficult to find as not all streets are named. Owner even gave me a parting gift of olive spa soap with an evil eye for good luck. Breakfast was great. Don't rent the Cleopatra room as it's too noisy with street noise. Other than that it was great.

This is an excellent small hotel. The house is superbly decorated. It is 150 m from the center of the old Bergama and only at 750 from the cable to Pergamon. There is a very nice view from the breakfast terrace. The breakfast was very good and the Wi-Fi worked very well.

We loved Bergama, its a small town at the foot of imposing Pergamon. The little cobbled back streets are charming - when you're not trying to drive on them which is what you do need to do if you drive to Hera Hotel. Not that this is a problem if you arrive from the right end - of course we decided to take 'the hard way' and drove up the narrower lane leading to Hera. It was wet, and getting dark and our lovely hosts were standing outstide as we drove up - "We were worried about you" they said. It was lovely to be welcomed with warmth and sincerity. It was late and most restaurants had closed. But they had anticpated our need for dinner and had kindly called a restaurant a little way up the hill who opened for us. That was a life saver! Hera Hotel (although its more like a large B&B) totally surpassed our expectations. The accommodation itself was a beautifully renovated 200 year-old- building, comfortable, tasteful and with access to a great, atmospheric courtyard. Up stairs is the balcony where breakfast is served and from where you can view the castle walls. Our hosts - who are absolutely lovely - tell stories of when they played on the mountain and among the ruins as children. Hotel Hera is in a great position as you can walk to town or easily up to Pergamon. On our first outing our hosts walked us around some of the back streets to make sure we went the right way - chatting as we went to my teenage daughter about all mannger of things. We just didn't want to leave - we feel like we made friends. They even invited our daughter to come to stay with them in Bergama or Istanbul at any time. I ranked this as a great place for a family to stay but it would be equally as good for friends, couples and as a a person travelling alone. Hopefully we will return one day.
