We had a wonderful time at Melrose house hotel. Selami was a fantastic host. He gave us lots of helpful information on the travertines and Hieropolis, and then we had a great night watching the world cup basketball with him and his cousin with a very nice dinner. My husband and I are vegetarian and it was no trouble to get a vegetarian dinner.

The stone suite room was beautiful with a round bed and a small balcony. It was nicely furnished and clean. Free wifi was fast and reliable. We left early the next morning before breakfast and we were given some bread rolls to take with us. It is about a 10-15min walk from the centre of town but that wasn't an issue at all. The value for money was the best of our 5 week trip. Highly recommended.

We were intending to stay at the Melrose for one or two nights while we visited Pamukkale, but the hotel was so good and the owners so welcoming that we extended our stay to 3 nights. The room was very good and comfortable with a nice view from the balcony. We ate in the hotel every night because the food was so good and reasonably priced. It is in a quiet location, excellently situated for visiting Pamukalle. The owners, Mehmet and Ummi, were wonderful, really welcoming and helpful. We would certainly stay at the Melrose again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Only stayed one night but cannot say enough about the warm welcome we received. The room was very nice, with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Not really walking distance to the sites, but we had a car, so this was no problem. Ate dinner in the courtyard; very good. Breakfast was a wonderful buffet. Owner was very helpful when we tried to plan our drive from Pamukkale to Kas.

We read great reviews and after staying here we understand why the reviews were so good - Melrose House is one of those perfect combinations of friendly helpfulness and professional service. We stayed here three nights and felt comfortable and relaxed throughout. This is a family run business that understands the needs of travelers and willing to help out in ways beyond our expectations. We had originally planned to stay in their hostel but since it was closed during the slow season, Mehmet agreed to let us have a room in the hotel for the same price. The breakfasts were plentiful, varied and delicious. The beds were the most comfortable we have slept in our 3 months of travels so far.

In a place not exactly overrun with excellent hotels Melrose House Hotel provides exceptionally good value for money with very friendly and helpful owners and a pleasant family atmosphere. Staying in one of the 'stone suite' rooms we had a lot of space, an enormous bed, an adequate bathroom and a balcony all at a very reasonable price. The home cooking at the hotel provided some of the best meals we had in our Turkish holiday.

Mehmet & Ummu Gulec have converted a house in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood into a pleasant hotel. Assisted by their eldest daughter when she is back from school, service is cheerful and attentive.

Mehmet carried our bags and Ummu immediately showed us all the available rooms so that we could make an informed selection. The rooms are clean, comfortable, well-lit and come in a variety of sizes, usually with multiple beds; three of us occupied two rooms with a total of six beds between us. Some rooms come with minibar-sized refrigeratror, electronic safe and balcony. However, our rooms did not have enough electricity outlets to cater to all our charging needs for cameras and other electronic paraphernalia. Ensuite bathrooms are well-lit and reminiscent of staying at a friend's home.

Dinner menus comprise hearty homecooked dishes. The buffet breakfast is well-stocked. Seating for meals is available among tables located indoors or in the outdoor patio, beneath a relaxing canopy of climbing vines next to the small swimming pool.

The sprawling Hierapolis-Pamukkale UNESCO World Heritage Site is a short drive away.
