We took a day coach trip to pamukkale from fethiye and it cost 80TL each or (£25ish) depending on exchange rate at time. We stopped for breakfast at a very shabby and not very nice place after and hour. Then 2 hours later we arrived and what an amazing sight. You are not allowed to wear shoes to walk around the pools as it is slippery. The water in the pools is not deep. Cleopatras pool cost an extra 32TL which we did not pay but looks lovely but crowded. The food and dink are reasonably priced. There are lockers, toilets and changing rooms but they are all crowded as so many other coach loads of people turn up. We didnt have time to look at the ruins or go to the museum as we enoyed our day going down all the calcim pools. Over all we had a fantastic time.

We went to Pamukkale as an overnight stop on our trip by car through Turkey. I am soooo happy that we only booked one night there. What a complete waste of time! The hotel we stayed at was nice, beautiful pool (Hotel Hal-Tur) but I would not recommend to anyone to go to Pamukkale. The site is so contrived, with pools at the top created by concrete around the real pools, none of which have much water to speak of in them. Nothing like the pictures. Even the ruins are nothing special that you'd miss. The "mineral pool" is like a giant hot tub with flowers around it and full of people. The only highlight of our visit there was our stop at Aphrodisias along the way to Pamukkale. That is a beautiful, untouristy, well-preserved site.

Did this on a Thomsen "excursion" mainly as I couldn't be bothered getting organised. £44 for the day, 06.00 start and a couple of hours snoozing on the bus with a coffee and rest stop before arrival.
Got there before most of the tour buses, and the guide recommended getting into the "Cleopatra Pool" before the crowds. This is 32TRY extra but pretty good, they have lockers, loos and showers. Pool is 35C and has fallen columns and marble in it. Bit slippy. You can leave your stuff in the locker and explore the ruined city of Heliopolis which adds the slightly odd site of people in bikinis wandering through the ruins.
Then raced down to the Necropolis, which is pretty big, about a 25 min walk. Impressive, especially the tumulous round tombs.
The theatre has a beautiful stage, haven't seen anything like it, and there are ruins of the Agora and Basilica. The little museum has some nice reliefs especially one of gladiators.
Overall a cracking find, soured somewhat by the obligatory visit to an onxy factory/ shop. Chance to get an icecream at least.
If you plan on walking the city ruins take water although as a reviewer says, there is a tap en route.
Walked out on the Travertines at the top, still good photos.
Knew little about it before going and well satisfied with the visit.

Lets face it, the trip is boring. BUT worth every second and no visit to Pamukale would be complete without a trip to the thermal pools. Breathtaking beauty and a great day of fun for only 20tl ($10 U.S.) entry fee. Skip ALL the tours & hawkers, and simply take a bus or taxi to the top to enjoy the travertine pools and a cold drink. Beer, soda, snacks, and ice cream are available at the top at reasonable prices. Bring your camera and a zip lock to carry it in when not shooting. Also bring your sunscreen and a hat or umbrella as the sun is Super intense in the summer. Plan on spending at least 4 hours or more touring the surrounding ancient ruins and burial areas. Lots of extra activities (Cleopatras Pools, Museum, etc) if you like but not necessary.

I did the 2 day trip to pammukkale and to be honest it was poo, I went with my girlfriend and we were really looking forward to it but it was a massive let down.
we travelled for nearly 8 hours on a coach to get here and on the way stopped of numerouse times so they could try to sell something to us, it was a discrace, this whole trip ppl were continuasly trying to get you to get your money out. don't get me wrong pamukkale is amazing and is beautiful but the hotel they put you in for the night is shockingly bad, they charge you for EVERYTHING and consistently ask you to buy things.
