“Amazing hidden boutique cave hotel!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

We choose Urgup because we were told there are less tourists here than in Goreme--true. Customer service is their mantra...we were made to feel at home yet pampered with extraordinary food and room comfort. Our room furnishings included antiques and a warm regal feeling.Breakfast was served on the roof-top with a spread of homemade jams (my favorite was the miniature mountain strawberries), sliced tomatoes and cucumber, olives, fresh juice and fruit (Figs the size of a soft ball), local cheeses and some egg dish. The view was unique with a view of cave dwellings on the mountain side yet set back into a quiet neighborhood and quiet street but within walking distance to the town center. Everyone was extremely helpful and they assisted with booking an evening to see the whirling dervishes and the taxi to he airport. Staying here was a treat as we celebrated our 10th wedding anniv. Thank you for the life long memories you have given us. There is no other place to stay in Cappadocia but here in Urgup at the Sacred House.

Room Tip: All the rooms are set back and each is beautiful...just depends on the size you want.

Years have been passed since your last visit... Sacred House expanded and deserves a new visit.

We have 21 rooms now with a stunning restaurant & bar, underground SPA that might take away you breath.

Looking forward to serve you again in near future.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in september. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and breakfast was great. Hotel is quite charming, Rooms are very unique (we stayed in harem and chapel) but expensive compared to other hotels. Only downside to the hotel was the view. There are some cave dwellings in the nearby montains, but if you're looking for a view of the hot air balloons rising over the fairy chimneys, stay in Uchisar. Highly recommend a visit to this area- we would come back but stay in different villages/different hotels next time to experience a cave hotel and enjoy different views and restaurants.

You would never know it is a beautiful boutique cave hotel inside the wooden doors. Part of the hotel was renovated from an old chapel / house. Each room is beautifully decorated with it's own theme. Breakfast is served at the roof top terrace where it over-looks part of the town and also the cave in the hills from afar. Breakfast is superb, very nicely presented.
IT is super cozy and you could easily stay here for a week just relaxing. It is also close to everything, a 5 mins wak down the hill and you are at the town center.
It you cannot live without TV then you might want to reconsider though. There is wifi, but certain rooms could be spotting on the reception due to thickness of the cave.

I think my title sums it up perfectly - wow, what an experience!!!

This place is unlike any hotel I've ever stayed. My wife and I spent our 10-year anniversary in Turkey and this was the second stop on our journey after Istanbul. We spent 4 days at Sacred House and it was truly an amazing stay - from the uniqueness of the property to the fantastic service by the staff.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Deniz, one of the managers of the property. She instantly made us feel welcome and described the property, area, etc. and provided us with drinks. We stayed in the room, Anka's Lair, and it was nothing like we've ever seen and one of their cave rooms. The room is large and tastefully decorated. There were many unique antiques and words cannot describe the room itself other than regal. They also had provided a bottle of wine and Turkish delights for our anniversary. On subsequent nights, we were provided with fresh fruit, figs, etc. The bed is comfortable and the room features a jacuzzi, which is great as well. No detail was missed and it is things like this that make it a 5-star experience.

The property itself is gorgeous, with multiple seating areas and a terrace overlooking Urgup. Breakfast is included in the stay and this was outstanding and served on the terrace. There were fresh tomatoes, olives, break, homemade jams, eggs, pastries, Turkish sausage, freshly squeezed orange juice, tea, coffee, etc. The presentation and food is absolutely delicious and wonderful. Not your normal breakfast!!!

As mentioned earlier, the service is outstanding, with special mention of Deniz, who was wonderful. She assisted with booking our balloon ride - an absolutely must, as well as restaurant recommendations, speaking with taxi drivers to ensure we didn't get lost, etc. She really made us feel welcome. There was also a gentleman that served breakfast and dinner, who unfortunately I do not remember his name (it started with a B) who was outstanding as well.

They serve a private dinner at the hotel as well. I highly recommend doing this! Dinner is served in one of the caves under candlelight and soft music. Being our 10 year anniversary, it was perfect and we couldn't plan anything more romantic. The hotel's chef is absolutely amazing. The food is delicious and presentation such that you want to admire it and take pictures (which we did)! As mentioned above, the gentleman server was outstanding and the private treatment was 5-star!

On our last day, it was just us and another couple at the hotel. Deniz took us and showed us all of the rooms, all unique and amazing.

Near the hotel are two wineries and a number of restaurants and shopping, all in a short walking distance.

In summary, this was truly a 5-star experience from the hotel, room, and steller service. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Cappadocia!

The staff and hotel live up to the exceptional reviews. When you enter all your senses are impacted, the gorgeous decor, the scent of fresh flowers, and the music that puts you in a relaxed mood and makes you feel like you're in a fairy tale. The rooms are all gorgeous with unique decor that's exquisitely put together (we stayed in Bacchus Hideout Room) and snuck a peak in the other rooms. The breakfast is divine - especially the Turkish sundried tomato condiment and all the fresh warm breads, cheeses, olives, figs, eggs/meats. Their house wine was very nice - especially when enjoyed from their rooftop (same place you have breakfast). The hotel at night is really romantic, especially with the candles and lighting throughout. The staff are really warm and friendly and accommodating. Felt like we were saying bye to family when leaving. They helped us with arranging tours and recommendations. Balloon ride is a must. Also enjoyed the red valley tour and whirling dervishes ceremony. If you walk down the hill from the hotel, there's a small garden you enter that is actually a family-run wine house that has delicious wines and you can do tastings. It's right next to the hamam - I think it's called Mahzen Sarap Evi. Also recommend the dried fruit/spice stores in town and Urgup Pide & Kebab for a bite to eat - it's next to the bus station in town and seems popular with locals. There's enough to do in town (Urgup) which is different than other cave hotels in the region. Would love to go back to Sacred House - it's a bit pricy but def worth the splurge!

Sacred house exceeded our already high expectations when we stayed here. The rooms, hotel design and service were all excellent. We were apprehensive initially staying in a cave hotel with no television and ac but our stay was so good that we never missed any of these modern conveniences. Truly exceptional!

Sacred House, in a former Greek mansion, is an utter gem. The public spaces are beautiful and the rooms spectacular, particularly the cave rooms. It's a small hotel, so the staff can make the effort to get everything right, particularly with service. Upon arrival, they immediately upgraded us to a stunning cave room and brought in a platter of Turkish Delight. The manager, Deniz, helped arrange our activities in Cappadocia, including going to see a whirling dervishes show. I stupidly left my camera on a bus in a town an hour away, and Deniz called the bus company and helped me get it back that night. The free breakfast on the terrace was a full-service meal with mezzes up the wazoo, and was probably the best meal we had in all of Turkey during our vacation. To top it all off, we had to leave for the airport at dawn on the last day, which meant we would miss the breakfast, and Deniz had a to-go meal of sandwiches waiting for us when we woke up!

We stayed at some really expensive luxury places on our trip--particularly in Bodrum and Istanbul--but none of those compared with this small boutique and how welcome the staff made us feel. Sacred House was truly a pleasant surprise!
