“Amazing People”

Without question, the Fresco is an amazing hotel. My wife and I stayed in suite 110. Neither of us have ever slept on a more comfortable bed in any hotel stay. Plush, and inviting are the best words we can use to describe that bed. We had to pinch ourselves because the whole experience seemed surreal. Not just from staying in a cave that is how old, but the hotel itself, situated against the hillside, looks like a picture from a romantic getaway. Steping into the bathroom was like walking into a spa. Full enclosed glass shower, seperate two person tub, turkish cotton bathrobes, and incredibly soft linens greet you. The room has an old world feel with the wood plank floor and real wood furniture. Staff is exceptional. We really felt at home with friends during our two night stay. Burak and his kitchen/wait staff are friendly and eager to make you feel right at home as well. Buffet style breakfast with traditional, and regional foods, as well as eggs cooked to order. Would highly recommend staying at the Fresco.

We spent two nights on our honeymoon in one of the suite rooms. The room was lovely; simple but very clean, beautiful, and cozy. The roof decks are charming and the staff was gracious and helpful. We arrived late and hungry one night and the owner of the Fresco phoned a nearby restaurant to ask them to stay open to feed us! The hotel is in a great location to do many things. We highly recommend Fresco.

We stayed at Fresco for 3 nights in their Superior Room. The rooms were value for money for the sheer size of the room and bathroom. The superior rooms come with their own private sitout which is a good touch. Room 304 and 305 are connected rooms with a door in between. The private sitout in 305 is very nice with a small patch of a garden overlooking the valley!

The breakfast spread is very nice with omelettes to order. The hotel doesn't really serve lunch and for dinner an advance reservation is required. The hotel is happy to order in local food from a nearby restraint which is very good. For dinner there are good options within walking distance. Han Ciragan and Ziggis are recommended. There are no other fine dining options in the vicinity!

The lovely owner of the hotel, Gamze and her beautiful dog Jervis make your stay even more pleasant and hassle free. Gamze is very helpful in arranging local tours and balloon rides and does drive a good bargain for you if you ask.

The only thing previous reviewers did not mention was the close proximity of a mosque. Without in any manner hurting any religious sentiments, the 4am prayers offered at the mosque may be a disturbance for light sleepers but that did serve as a brilliant wake up call for us when we had to leave for the hot air balloon ride in the morning :)

Overall: Highly recommended no fuss boutique hotel with great views, good location and friendly staff!

I stayed there on 10th and 11th June,2013. That was first time for I and my familly visit to Turkey, thus my wife a bit worried about quality of accomodation also because my daughter was just 9 months old infant. As a result, as you are seeing my score for this hotel, our stay at Fresco is exellent!!! Firstly, the room was so romantic and useful, stayed in the cave but has perfect air conditioner and big bathtub. Secondly, the breakfast is awesome!!!! Many kind of handmade cheese and fresh juice were more than delicious!!! Third, all clerks are very professional and familly like, so I was easily able to consult with my trip plan even for place of dinner or lunch, I really would like to stay there again!!!

I arrived on the 9th of June with 20 people for 2 weeks tour of Turkey. Cappadoccia is a must stopover for most tour group and among many other towns in the area like Goreme,Avanos i decided to put up at Urgup just simply because of this wonderful , gorgeous Fresco Cave Mansion

Anyone will fall in love with the architecture, the location, the awesome view from the roof top garden or the restaurant. This place is far above my budget but i just like to give them a real treat and experience the unique atmosphere.

Built by the first Mayor of Urgup, Yesari Bey, it has unique frescos decorating the walls mostly floral patterns indicating that the mansions were owned by devout muslims. The present owner Mr Mehmet Toybiyik is an engineer by profession and he has restored and renovated the place with great passion. Currently there are only 17 rooms and each is of different shape and size . The rooms are large with modern fittings and i swear you, my bathroom was bigger than my kitchen at home.

We were welcomed on arrival by Mr Mehmet and her daughter Gamze , who is the manager at the property and she handed the room keys personally. The staff too were so polite, they speak good English and checking in was a breeze.

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was just superb. Typical home cook food prepared lovingly by their pretty chef aptly named Jamilah which is beautiful in Arabic . Her pudding with honey, cinnamon and nuts was out of this world. I even secretly asked the waiter to hide and save one for my breakfast the following day before we checked out.

Every group member grumbled that we should have 2 nights in Urgup just because they wanted to have another day spent at this lovely place. I befriended 2 sisters from Brazil and they loved the hotel too. As for me, it will be a permanent choice every time i have a group to Turkey.

Fresco Cave & Mansion is highly recommended for honeymooners, or even group of friends or families. You will have no regrets whether rooms, services, food and the awesome view .

Room Tip: Room 210 has a great view of the town and 203 has a good view of the mosque & the streets

Fresco Cave Suites and Mansions was the best hotel I stayed at in Turkey - and among the best anywhere in the world. It was wonderfully located - close to the picturesque town square, but not too close that one felt crowded, just adjacent to a hidden gem, a UNESCO world heritage site, which used to be part of the "old district" and isn't yet on the tourist trail, so is free to roam, and next to an old mosque (the only downside was the azaan at 4am that would wake us up, but it was musical enough to lull us back to sleep!)
The staff were super helpful, willing and very eager to please - right from giving us an early check-in, to arranging tours for us (and we double-checked their prices - very reasonable) without hustling us, and accomodating other small requests we had.
The owner, who speaks little English, was always around, but never intrusive. He appeared to be a very hands-on owner, keeping an eye on things, which may possibly be why the hotel works with clockwork precision.
The buffet breakfast was simply outstanding - from the freshly-squeezed orange juice, to the walnuts, other dried fruits, halvas, fresh array of local cheeses, the crisp salad leaves, the fresh-cut fruit, yummy cakes and croissants, every sort of olive you can imagine to the made-to-order eggs. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water - it was that good. The dining room staff was even more exceptional - always smiling as they buzzed around helping all the guests,
The entire hotel was spik and span, even for very picky guests like us.
The rooms were spacious, airy and tastefully done in local style. Ours overlooked the sit-out area that overlooked the park next to the mosque and it was peaceful and beautiful. Our kids enjoyed the huge hammock and with the flowers in full bloom, that place was picture-perfect.
Our room also had a huge bathroom, with a separate shower area and a tub with a jacuzzi. We were planning to go to the local Turkish hamam, but after reading the reviews (and more importantly, after walking down to check it out ourselves) we chose to have our own family hamam bath in that cave-style bathroom! It was totally unforgettable!
I'm so glad my 12-year old found this hotel for us to stay at, and we changed our reservations at the last minute. Thank you Fresco, for making Urugup special for us!!
