“A Hotel in a traditional style(at last)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2014

A traditional style hotel in a good town centre position(but early setting up of the weekly market early morning(saturday) could be a bit noisy) An older hotel so smaller rooms and bathrooms, ones at the back especially.but very clean and comfortable. The public areas are nice and of a more intimate and comfortable size;nice bar area and lounge.Dining room (actually two interconnected) well laid out and well staffed with young pleasant waiters.
Meals are usual buffet style of reasonable variety; salads meats etc, more limited range of hot(well warm) dishes.Very good and reasonably priced local wines(one wine maker is just up the road)
I very much enjoyed my stay here, felt it was more hospitable and relaxing of stays on this tour.We were there for three nights and i was quite sorry to leave.Perhaps one may question the four star official rating as the place was not 'glitzy' but felt more like a proper traditional hotel in a local style.I liked it a lot,so 4 stars from me!
I also noticed it was the least expensive place we stayed,so a definate plus if you are making your own arrangements,A single at about £50 a night.

Room Tip: All rooms affected by the early call to prayer, although I slept through it.Early morning noise at th...

Nothing particularly remarkable about this hotel good or bad.

Our room was clean and comfortable enough, but somewhat smaller than at our other hotels on the RSD tour. We were at the back of the hotel and our room was quiet except for the morning call to prayer which did wake us up. The local Mosque is close by.

Food quite good, but Nescafe from the coffee machine. Not my favourite. Other drinks prices reasonable though.

Location was quite good - a brisk 5 minute walk to the centre of town. The Saturday market is just in front of the hotel and there were lots of local products on sale at good prices.

Not sure it really warrants the four star rating but it is not too bad. Our room was fairly spacious and clean. However, the walls are not particularly soundproof. The buffet-style restaurant offered a very large choice of starters, main courses and desserts, but unfortunately most of the "hot meals" were luke-warm at best. The most unpleasant thing about the restaurant is that there are far too many people dining there at one time, so it is very noisy and crowded, not relaxing at all. Probably best to avoid eating dinner between 7 pm and 9 pm. Breakfast choice also good but the same problem with the crowds. No fresh fruit juice only powdered juice, also only instant coffee. We had lunch there one day - organised by our tourguide so there were only a handful of us in the restaurant at that time and they had prepared a special meal for us, which was excellent - so the kitchen is indeed able to prepare tasty, copious and appetising meals when it is just for a small group.

They have good breakfast and dinner buffet but you have to pay for the drinks separately. The room is clean especially the toilet and good wifi connection. Would have been better if they kept the hamam and massage.

This hotel should be out of the catalog! I give the 2 stars only because the location (and I am being generous), because Urgup is a nice and easygoing town, and the hotel is quite well centered, only 10 minutes walking distance to the center, that is it!
It's not clean, personnel is tired and the building needs a serious remodeling. On Friday a local market is set up just across the street, so it is worth a visit, quite fun!

I stayed here four nights on a tour booked through Turkeyvision/Koptur. My sinle room was large and clean, though the bright yellow walls took some getting used to. The hotel is located across the street from an area where a large open market is held every Saturday. It's a fun place to visit, marveling at the huge quantities of produce, spices, clothing, housewares, etc. that are brought in and displayed. It's a fairly short and fairly direct walk to the city center, but watch your step on the uneven sidewalks. On the way you'll see a lot of interesting shops and fast food places. Like other places I've stayed at in Turkey, the Tassaray uses motion detectors in the halls to save on electricity for lighting. In this case it results in a pretty spooky long dark corridor until the lights kick in. Unlike others, I found the food served at the restaurant buffet adequate, but undistinguished.
