“Amazing”
Reviewed June 21, 2014 via mobile

Had the pleasure of staying here for four nights. Couldn't fault it. Breakfast is outstanding and the staff our wonderful.
Amazing setting overlooking the valley to Goreme.
The rooms are a little dark but that is part of the experience. Dined two nights in the restaurant and the service was outstanding. Food was good but not great.
We stayed in the lazy hunter room. Bed was very comfortable and even got a pillow menu. Wine, Turkish delight and nibbles on arrival in the room

We loved staying at the Museum-Hotel in Cappadocia. This serene and sophisticated cave hotel is a treasure. We spent 4 days here, which gave us time to not only see the sights but to relax at this beautiful and unique hotel.

My favorite experience was joining Chef Mustafa on a trip to the market. Along with Melissa, a lovely young woman who translated for us, we drove about 20 minutes to a small market to choose the fruits and vegetables we would need to cook our own lunch. On the way back we stopped to view the amazing site known as "the three sisters."

We headed into the kitchen where my husband joined us. Chef showed us how to prepare stuffed aubergines, stuffed grape leaves, a lovely spring salad, stuffed apples, and a rich crepe-like dessert. Side-by-side with the chef and his staff was so much fun. I have taken some cooking classes in the states but never experienced anything like this.

Room Tip: Each room is unique. Do not worry about the cave rooms being too dark -- we stayed in Kandilli (lit...

How would you like to sleep in a cave - maybe not - but what if it was a large cave, with great creature comforts, decorated with antiques, offering a spectacular view over the Cappadocian landscape, had a friendly and very efficient staff, an infinity pool, outdoor dining and lovely furnishings. Well that pretty well sums up the Museum Hotel.

We were here for four nights and this stay ranks among the most pleasant and exciting stays we've had. If we go back to Cappadocia we'll stay here again. I does come at a pretty price, but it is still an excellent value.

Room Tip: Ask for a view - if for nothing else to see about 100 hot air balloons taking off each morning. Som...

The Museum Hotel is aptly named, for it does in fact contain a large number of beautiful Turkish artefacts and antiques spread throughout the hotel in both the public areas and the extremely spacious rooms. Bathrooms are also very generous and superbly equipped. Rooms are situated on multiple levels winding the way down the hillside. Flower gardens with peacocks, turtles etc. pop up around hidden corners. Each room is distinctive and ours overlooked the broad valley for a stunning view. Service is first rate. We only ate breakfast at the hotel during our four night stay and it was excellent. For those so inclined, you can get an early morning shave by a Turkish barber on the terrace overlooking the valley. All in all, a stunning property.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view since some rooms really are caves and thus without a view.

The Museum Hotel is just that, a beautiful "cave" hotel set into the mountain. The picturesque views and magnificent sunsets, the rooms, which, much to our surprise had white and red wine spigots and the most modern design, despite being built out of original caves-- all of it was dwarfed by a level of service that continues to make you feel pampered, special, even loved. I am convinced that Arzu, the dining manager, will some day run the place, as she is efficient, sweet, and entirely competent! If you are traveling to Cappadoccia (Kapedoke in Turkish), the Museum Hotel is a must. Tell Arzu I send love!

Room Tip: Ours was magnificent, and the few I peaked into were as well! There is a room facing the "view...

I can't imagine having visited Cappidocia and not stayed at the Museum Hotel. My husband and I were there for 4 wonderful nights in the Lazy Hunter room. This is a cave hotel with 5 star ammenities and service. The property and the views are outstanding, the staff are very engaging and completely service oriented and the breakfast was over the top. Everything is organic, homemade and local. We were skeptical whether we would enjoy the food (our first visit to Turkey) and we could not have been happier with the variety of fruits, meats, vegetables, jams and local Turkish specialties. The service was outstanding, with a special note to the chef and the woman who runs the dining room. She was sweet, hospitable and genuine. The young man who is studying tourism and very interested in wine (a hobby of ours) was also very nice. We discussed the local wines and were shown the suite which has its own wine cellar - what fun! Also, I was afraid it would be cool in the early morning of my balloon ride and they provided me with a warm wrap just in case. I didn't need it but how thoughtful is that? I didn't realize it but I had left an earring in the room after checking out and while we were still there, the maid ran up to the front desk to give it to me....so sweet and greatly appreciated. I have no reservations recommending this hotel to anyone. This was our first stop on a trip where we would stay at 8 other 5 star hotels and this one set the bar very high for the others and was our favorite out of them all.

Room Tip: The window in our room was small but I could watch the hot air balloons pass by every morning and re...

We spent 2 nights at the hotel and what stood out was the helpful attitude of the staff and not the hotel's facilities. The rooms were very pretty but were poorly lit. The bed and pillows left a lot to desire - not very comfortable. The ambience a the hotel is great as well. Just wish they offered a few more choices at breakfast.
Overall, I'd stay here again if the price were a bit lower.
